Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Ffedit. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Schott AG, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
- instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Your coming from an account named 'Schott-PR' leads me to believe that you may have a conflict of interest related to that company! crh23 (talk) 09:30, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
Hello there. I've been very busy, so please accept my apologies for not replying to your message on my talk page sooner. I did see that you reverted my revert, and your reasoning for doing so is fair enough. I'm happy to discuss my edits with you if you feel they are inappropriate. I've just gone through the article and cleaned up content that I feel is non-NPOV and also removed some copy/paste content from the US Schott subsidiary's website. I've also fixed a number of the references to be full citations, rather than plain links. I've also made the capitalization of Schott mostly consistent through-out the article. Per WP:MOS, we don't use stylized capitalizations of company names on Wikipedia, so I used proper case in the name. I've also added some inline tags to areas of the article that require proper citations. Specifically, quantities and other things that make the company look large or special cannot be sourced to the company's own websites or reports, these need to be sourced from completely independent reputable publishers. I also note that the sourcing in the article really barely meets the minimum standards for notability with the number of reliable sources, I would recommend you attempt to add encyclopedic content from other reliable source to balance out the entirely primary sourced history section and other sections. Also, as you appear to work for Schott AG, English Wikipedia guidelines require that you declare your conflict of interest on your userpage and on the article's talk page. There's a template for the talk page which I can provide later, but on your user page you only need to state that you work for Schott AG. Thanks for your time.
