Discussion of This Is Me Trying Deletion

Hello. I created the original version of This Is Me Trying, which you have redirected with the point that it fails WP:NSONG. I have read the guidelines and understand that the article does not meet the guidelines. I am thinking of re-userfying the article and making improvements so that it would meet the guidlines. Would you be alright with that happening, considering you deleted the article? TheCartoonEditor (talk) (contribs) 14:38, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

@TheCartoonEditor: Hi, just want to note that I didn't delete the article, but redirected, so if you can find ways to improve the article you can always create it again. Make sure that it meets the guideline though, and all should be set :) Ippantekina (talk) 01:16, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

GOCE copyedit request

Changing chart publishers

Hello. Can you please not make this kind of edit where you change publisher= to, for example, ARIA Charts, Official New Zealand Music Chart and Irish Singles Chart? How do you think a chart is a publisher itself? Those charts are the published works, not the publishers themselves. The publishers are, respectively: Australian Recording Industry Association; Recorded Music NZ; and the Irish Recorded Music Association in cooperation with the Official Charts Company. You have to seem a misunderstanding or some sort of different conception around what a publisher= is, but this is entirely incorrect. A chart cannot publish itself; they are just the names of the charts, so please stop making this mistaken edit (website= is entirely sufficient for Hung Medien sites republishing this data), and please correct instances where you have made it (seemingly on discography's like Rihanna's and Taylor Swift's). You don't have to change back to website=, but please look to see who the charts are published by and change them to that. It would be appreciated. I understand you've simply used the publisher= parameter to name the chart the data pertains to, but using this parameter for this purpose is somewhat misleading. Anyway, if you need future help identifying which organisation publishes which chart, I will help you out. Thanks. Ss112 17:24, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Other edits

Sorry for going through your other edits, but this edit speaks to a lack of knowledge of what other charted songs sections are for. They are not for singles ("Paris in the Rain" is listed in the singles section) that charted in other countries that are not listed as a column in the singles section. They are only for songs that weren't singles that charted. That's their entire purpose. The singles section already has 10 columns Lauv performed the best in, so unfortunately, that is at its recommended limit. Ss112 17:50, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Also, please see WP:USCHARTS. It appears you have gone through a number of Rihanna's singles and albums articles and added the R&B Songs or R&B Albums chart when the album or song already charted on the overall R&B/Hip-Hop Songs or R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. These should not both be present for entries after 2013. Please remove them where you have added them for albums and songs released after this period. Thanks. Ss112 18:00, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Taylor Swift

regarding this revert - MOS:PERTINENCE states that editors should "Strive for variety [...] If an article on a military officer already shows its subject in uniform, then two more formal in-uniform portraits would add little interest or information". therefore, it makes little sense to have three pictures of Swift doing the same action, as it is repetitive for the reader; her musical ability is more than sufficiently represented by two photographs as well as the descriptions of her knowledge of instruments in the existing text.--Bettydaisies (talk) 16:35, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

@Bettydaisies: Hello, thank you for the message. 3/11 of the images show Swift on her instrument (the Speak Now World Tour image shows her on a banjo), so I'd say that number is not overwhelming to diminish variety. There are pictures of her at galas, awards shows, etc. Plus a photo of her performing is better than a photo of her standing and smiling, no? Ippantekina (talk) 02:49, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
I'm specifically referring to the images in the "Life and career" portion of the text. In that case, three of the seven images of Swift are of her playing an instrument, with two of them in succession of each other, which does appear to be repetitive to me. If the rhetoric is that a photograph of her with an instrument is better then one "standing and smiling", then most of the images have the capability to be replaced by Swift doing so - however, they aren't, for the benefit of variety, if that makes sense.--Bettydaisies (talk) 04:16, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
@Bettydaisies: It seems repetitive to you, but I don't see it that way personally. 3/7 is not overwhelming--it is barely simple majority. Alas, is this really a grave issue to the article's quality? Ippantekina (talk) 08:49, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
I don't think it's a "grave issue to the article's quality", but I have sought to explain "what's wrong with three photos of guitar strumming" within that section of the body before attempting any further reverts. If you believe that it is a grave issue to the article's quality, then a simple change of one of the images to avoid quite a few images in the row of Swift doing the same thing while performing shouldn't be that significant.--Bettydaisies (talk) 00:48, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
@Bettydaisies: Considering 3/7 is barely simple majority, I disagree with your assessment. Swapping the current image (Swift strumming a guitar) with your alternative (Swift standing and smiling) does not enhance "variety". Your interpretation of MOS:PERTINENCE is twisted because you omit the following part: but a map of an important battle and an image of its aftermath would be more informative. In this context, your alternative is not "more informative" in any way. Ippantekina (talk) 01:56, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
It does enhance variety because it is, simply, not a picture of her strumming an instrument that directly follows another photograph of her strumming an instrument. I omitted that part because a picture of Swift standing and smiling and another picture of Swift playing the guitar both have the same informative value of absolutely nothing.--Bettydaisies (talk) 20:02, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

I Knew You Were Trouble

Hello again. I just wanted to say that you had a great attitude about the "I Knew You Were Trouble" FAC. I agree with your decision to withdraw the FAC based on the recent comments, and I wish you the best with the peer review. You have done a great job taking on the constructive criticism and reacting respectfully. That is not as easy as it may sound for some users (as I have reacted way too poorly to opposes and constructive criticism in the past). Apologies for leaving this rather random message, but I just wanted to let you know that you handled this very well. Have a great weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 18:34, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

  • I was going to say the same thing! My first few FACs were rough and I didn't react to stuff the best. I have a bit more time now (but not really lol) so I will try to leave some comments at the peer review. Heartfox (talk) 20:54, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your comments. I too was not in the good mood when the oppose came, but I found appropriate ways to vent and managed to not take on fellow editors. Either way, I look forward to your comments at the PR. It's always good to learn from experienced ones :) Ippantekina (talk) 01:58, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Taylor Swift Italian Certs

Hi Ippantekina. I noticed you removed my certs for Italy from the Taylor Swift discography. Please check the source for the italian certs again. You need to type "Taylor Swift" in the search bar and set the year (anno) to "Tutti gli anni" to find the certs. Unfortunately, there's no better link for the Italian certs.YGO24895 (talk) 13:37, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

@YGO24895: I know. The problem is we need Italian chart positions to include Italian certifications per WP:DISCOGSTYLE#Per-release number 8. Ippantekina (talk) 13:40, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Ippantekina. I din't know that. Thanks for letting me know. I'll only add them in the future, if the corresponding charts are also included.YGO24895 (talk) 13:43, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Glad I could help. Happy editing-- Ippantekina (talk) 13:46, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

--Jorgemguillen (talk) 20:35, 22 February 2022 (UTC)== Changes in Taylor Swift Singles Discography countries ==

Hello Ippantekina, I realised that you usually update this page (Taylor Swift Single Discography) so I would like to consult with you. I think it would be an improvement to change Austria and Switzerland for Denmark and Norway. Denmark is already in albums´page so it would match better and I noticed that a lot of artists have Norway in their discography pages. Also these two countries update with more frecuency Taylor´s certifications there so they reflect better her comercial success. For example Switzerland hasn´t updated her certs since 2015... Regards and I hope hearing your answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jorgemguillen (talkcontribs) 20:32, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Taylor re-recordings

Hello! I have cited my sources that state that the songs on Taylor Swift's re-recorded albums were recorded no earlier than November 2020 by Taylor Swift herself. I am going to revert your reverts again. If you revert them AGAIN then I will start a new discussion on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. To quote Taylor Swift "STARTING November 2020 I can re-record albums one through five all over again." If you understand fluent English this shouldn't be hard to understand. Tree Critter (talk) 15:34, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

@Tree Critter: She did not specifically say in the interview that she would re-record Fearless or Red by that time. The interview was in 2019, way before the intended rerecording date, so there could be discrepancies in real practice. You can report me to the AN if you want, but I adhere to WP:V and the GMA interview fails to verify the intended information. I shall revert your edits again. Cheers, Ippantekina (talk) 00:39, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

Address

I sense that in the quest for GA and FA stats on certain articles some, not many mind you, editors are using a "stilted style" which you would not find in a routine conversation. I put my concern on one of these articles you are "passing" forward. I don't think you understand the detriment this brings to the site.Pictureperfect2 (talk) 11:31, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
