editHello, I'm Gaelan. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to The Abrams Brothers seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. (talk to) Gaelan('s contributions) 01:15, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

. Huon (talk) 01:33, 14 October 2017 (UTC)- Beyond the promotional edits there is also a username issue: Your username suggests you are James Abrams of The Abrams. If that's you, you will need to provide evidence (see WP:Impersonation for details). If that isn't you, you will need to request a change of username (see Special:GlobalRenameRequest). I apologize for the inconvenience, but you'll appreciate that we try to prevent you from being impersonated on Wikipedia. Huon (talk) 01:36, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

Request reason:
I am not spamming and will be conscious to not appear to be. I have emailed to address the perceived impersonation of James Abrams, I am James Abrams.Jamesabrams6 (talk) 01:56, 14 October 2017 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Adding links to your own website is spamming, as far as we are concerned. Thank you for emailing to clear up the username issue, but if you are James Abrams you absolutely should not be editing the article about your band, as you have a very strong conflict of interest with regards to that page. Request reason:
This is not something that I was aware of. It was purely out of inexperience that I sourced it as such and contributed to the page. I did not consider a conflict (i.e., that I now understand) and was trying to provide more accurate information than what is currently presented. I will not do so again but think this is quite severe to block me indefinitely after only one particular event. I would appreciate having my IP unblocked so I may contribute, on other content, to wikipedia at some point again in the future.
Decline reason:
User has not responded to questions in a reasonable timeframe. Request is declined. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:47, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

@Yunshui: I'm inclined to unblock here with a warning against editing with a COI and a pointer to the article talk page to resolve any issues, but would like you please to explicitly confirm first that this user has established their identity by email. GoldenRing (talk) 11:27, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- @GoldenRing: I'm onboard with unblocking based on the above request. However, the identity issue is not resolved (OTRS#2017101410000584 for those with access) - the user has submitted a claim by email but since it was sent from a free Yahoo address rather than any official email address, we still have no way of knowing whether the claim is valid. - @Yunshui: Thanks. I'm not on OTRS. Jamesabrams6, you will need to substantiate your identity by email before being unblocked. GoldenRing (talk) 13:42, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
