Rollback

edit

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. –Juliancolton | Talk 16:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

IP block exemption

edit

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Fred Talk 22:13, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Xi'an Metro.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Xi'an Metro.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Request reason:

Requesting an IP address block exemption, because the proxy I use so to be able to edit in Mainland China has its IP address range blocked. Apparently global-ipblock-exempt doesn't count for local blocks :(

Accept reason:

Hello! Why do you block my IP while I'm seeking for help? --61.220.191.220 (talk) 11:38, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to subscribe to the edit filter mailing list

edit

Hi, as a user in the edit filter manager user group we wanted to let you know about the new wikipedia-en-editfilters mailing list. As part of our recent efforts to improve the use of edit filters on the English Wikipedia it has been established as a venue for internal discussion by edit filter managers regarding private filters (those only viewable by administrators and edit filter managers) and also as a means by which non-admins can ask questions about hidden filters that wouldn't be appropriate to discuss on-wiki. As an edit filter manager we encourage you to subscribe; the more users we have in the mailing list the more useful it will be to the community. If you subscribe we will send a short email to you through Wikipedia to confirm your subscription, but let us know if you'd prefer another method of verification. I'd also like to take the opportunity to invite you to contribute to the proposed guideline for edit filter use at WP:Edit filter/Draft and the associated talk page. Thank you! Abuse filter editor access

edit

Hello Jimmy Xu, as your original request for abuse filter edit rights was for read-only, and you have subsequently been added to the global group, I've removed the local flag. If you have any problems reading filters, please let me know. — xaosflux Talk 04:50, 19 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Move of User:Chicbyaccident to PPEMES

edit

User Chicbyaccident has been asking for some time to be unblocked at Swedish Wikipedia. This just was granted and the user has now been unblocked there. Simultaneously, you name-changed the user to User:PPEMES whose history on English Wikipedia goes back to 2015 and also is a long-established name on Swedish Wikipedia. But for the same user? It's likely that this is none of my business, but it does look very confusing. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 17:49, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi SergeWoodzing. Apologies if I didn't quite get your question. As all accounts on Wikipedia are global, en:User:PPEMES is actually the same person as sv:User:PPEMES, who just got renamed from "Chicbyaccident" both here and on svwiki. Since the block log would not be lost after a rename, I did not see the block as a problem. Thanks and happy new year :) Jimmy Xu (talk) 01:53, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
@SergeWoodzing: Confirming global account rename upon own request. So all in order, thanks to good service provided by Jimmy Xu. Let me know if I can be of help in any other way. Feel free to write to me on my talk page. PPEMES (talk) 16:52, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK thanx & HNY to you both! What I failed to grasp was that the account histories are those of the one user's account regardless of name change. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 22:59, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
