License tagging for Image:Redcross.gif
editThanks for uploading Image:Redcross.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:08, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Connector (journalism)
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Connector (journalism), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion nomination of Nice Little Penguins
editA tag has been placed on Nice Little Penguins requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hello, Kmilling. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Moussa Diallo, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Moussa Diallo to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.
Thanks, Wgolf (talk) 18:19, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi Wgolf - I fully understand, that it's been incredibly hard to contribute to Wikipedia. I have tried to add a few references to the Moussa Diallo article. I hope they meet the new standards. I thought him interesting for a broader audience as he (Diallo) works with musicians and artists from all over the world. I may be wrong though :-)
I hope Wikipedia will be able to use my contributions in the future. As it is, I'm quite sad while Wikipedia has lost some of it's original sharing 2.0 feeling. Maybe some other more open and accessible platform comes along in the future.
Yours dedicated

Moved to userspace
editI've moved the article to your userspace at User:Kmilling/Nice Little Penguins. Offhand the two biggest problems would be an issue with tone (as it reads a bit too casual and not exactly in an encyclopedic tone) and because it is completely unsourced with reliable sources. We need coverage in places such as newspapers and the like to establish notability. I know that in the article you claim the band is popular, but we need the reliable sources to back that up. The good thing is that the sources don't have to be in English to show notability. They can be in Danish or any other foreign language out there. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:36, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi Tokyogirl79
Would it be possible to move the article back into public for editing? I have called for international "help" with the task of editing and adding sources etc. for it, and this morning ppl write to me saying the article is nowhere to be found. Just five mins ago a guy from Brazil wrote me, asking what's going on. Personally, though I understand the reasoning, I get a bit puzzled, as I threw in a { { hangon } } just yesterday, and Wikipedia immediately chooses to delete the article... I'm not sure I see the value of { { hangon } } then?
As a band with at least one major international hit 'Flying' in 1994/1995 - sending the band touring around Europe and several countries in Asia - I just thought it qualified this ensemble to a place in the world's largest (and best) encyclopedia.
Was I wrong to think so?
Yours
Kenneth Ley Milling journalist www.latebar.org
- I've put a longer explanation at my talk page, but essentially my answer is this: right now it's honestly better for you if you keep this in the userspace. The hangon tag simply shows that someone is disputing the deletion and doesn't guarantee that the page won't be deleted. If the article doesn't assert enough notability to pass a speedy then it's still possible for a page to get deleted. In this instance when I moved it, the page didn't have any coverage in reliable sources to show notability. Even if we moved it back, there's still a very good possibility that someone would try to nominate it for deletion via another speedy or an WP:AfD nomination. Moving it to your userspace seemed the best situation since this would allow you to edit at your leisure rather than trying to make a mad dash for sources. Now as far as the current sources on the page go, neither of the two YouTube links can be used since they aren't released through NRK's official channel. A bit pedantic, I know, but it's considered to be a copyright violation and as such we can't really use those as reliable sources. There's a few pages that elaborate on this (WP:NOYT is one of them) but essentially it all boils down to "we can't use it unless it's official". I've had some extremely frustrating moments where I've wanted to use a non-official YT video to show notability, but there have been some instances where people have created hoaxes by some extremely sophisticated editing of videos, newspapers, and the like- enough to where Wikipedia started asking for this to come from the source itself.
- In any case the other editors can still access the page from your userspace and edit it, it just won't be visible from the mainspace. (Although it will still come up in a Google search, if you were wondering about that- I've had some of my userspace articles come up in a Google search.) If you genuinely want this moved back you can always move it, but I really recommend that you hold off until you source it with reliable sources. Trust me, it's a lot easier than having to deal with the hassle of an AfD or another speedy deletion. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:23, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oh- a side note. The claim of an international hit can help with notability, but the song would still have to have coverage in reliable sources. That's sort of the catch of it all. Many bands can have a following overseas, but if they don't have the coverage then technically they don't pass WP:BAND. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:23, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Also, if you were asked to create this by the band or a company representing them, you will need to look over our WP:COI policy. This doesn't mean that you can't edit, just that you need to be extremely cautious when editing. I think that you have a good intent here, so I'm not overly worried about any of the typical issues we have with COI editors. It's more just to ensure that you've read over them so you can be aware of them for the future. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:25, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Another side note: if you're interested in further working on the articles that were deleted, I can move those to your userspace as well. The same coda of "prove notability via reliable sources" applies here as well. The only thing I'd caution about is that some of the articles were deleted for violating our copyright policy (meaning portions of other websites were cut and pasted into the articles), so I'd heavily recommend that you not do this in the future. If there is anything in the NLP article that you cut and pasted from another article then that will have to be re-written in your own words. Even if you wrote the content (say, on your own website), it's still considered to be copyvio and needs to be re-written. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:28, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Kmilling. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Kmilling~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

December 2020
editHi Kmilling! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Claus Hempler that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 15:49, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Kj cheetham - If I remember correctly, I tried to help by linking this artist to AllMusic.com - a page I understand from other Wikipedia-admins, is used to verify an artist as credible and worthy of a presence/notoriety in Wikipedia. If the AllMusic entries are disputable, I rest my case. To be honest I am about to give up as a well-meaning contributor to en.wikipedia.org. I find it almost impossible to add anything - even the smallest things are focus of dispute. It is not your fault, I know. It is just the way Wikipedia works nowadays. Have a wonderful New Year, my friend :) Cheers, Kmilling
- Hi Kmilling. I have no issues with AllMusic.com myself, it's more a case of when adding any new content shouldn't really mark it as "minor", as as mentioned above, that's only for VERY minor changes like fixing a typo. Wikipedia does indeed have a large number of rules and guidelines, and I always seem to be learning about new ones myself too! Best wishes for the new year. :) -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:35, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Kj cheetham - I'll remember that. Thank you for taking the time to teach me. As you can tell, I find contributing to Wikipedia extremely complicated and hard :) -- Kmilling (talk) 10:49, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Kmilling, do feel free to give me a shout on my talk page if there's anything specific I can help with! (I'm always still learning myself too though.) -Kj cheetham (talk) 11:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Please help me with my draft about Korey Cooper -- Dear admins, I just pushed an article draft - Draft:Korey Cooper 2 - from my sandbox for admins to review (I'm still fairly new at this and find it extremely hard to contribute). As it is, it seems to me there's another draft out there, or... at least there is also a page-redirect from the Korey Cooper-page to the main page of Skillet, the band she is part of. All-in-all, I wonder if that means my draft has been pushed into wiki-limbo, never to be found or reviewed at all? I can't really decipher the redirect-answer I get in my sandbox page right now. Please advise!? -- Kmilling (talk) 13:45, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- Anyone may review a draft, not just admins. Your draft is pending, but as noted on the draft it could be 5 months or more due to a large backlog. 331dot (talk) 19:22, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hi 331dot (talk) and thank you for your speedy reply :) However, I wonder what happens with my sandbox in the meantime. If I want to create another draft, how do I go about that? I can't just delete what is in the sandbox now (the pending-reply), can I? Does that mean that I'll have to wait up to 5 months to contribute more? -- Kmilling (talk) 06:57, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- Kmilling You can create additional sandboxes, such as User:Kmilling/sandbox 2. Or you can use Articles for Creation to create drafts. 331dot (talk) 07:51, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hi 331dot (talk) (again) - How do you create the "extra" sandbox? Is there a wiki-guide for that somewhere? Thanks :) -- Kmilling (talk) 10:36, 23 April 2021
- Kmilling You simply create a link, as I did above. It will be red until you edit the page. Using Articles for Creation creates drafts in your chosen title. I don't know if there is a page explaining these things. 331dot (talk) 09:42, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
When is IMDB a reliable source?
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
I've noticed that the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) has a date of birth on Australian composer Mick Gordon . Would that count as a reliable source on WP, and thus should we add it in the WP entry? I've tried to read the recommendations about the use of IMDB as a source. But still feel a bit unsure what to use and what not to. Please advise :) -- Kmilling (talk) 14:26, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Kmilling no it is not generally a reliable source - see WP:IMDB. So no I would not trust it for a date of birth. However sometime unreliable sources give you a date you can them use to search for a good source. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 14:16, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you KylieTastic - I'll go look for another source then. -- Kmilling (talk) 16:36, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

- Dear TheBirdsShedTears (talk) - I cannot begin to express my disappointment from once again being disqualified as a contributor on Wikipedia. Please excuse my frustration, but I honestly begin to feel deliberately kept out of the elite group of people, allowed to contribute. I've been declined several times - even when correcting obvious misinformation, wrong dates and spelling mistakes (I am a professional journalist). I'm used to references, documentation and source-checking. I know my toolboox. This specific entry is/was about the lead guitarist and co-founder of one of the most successful (best selling) and most influential Christian music ensembles in the past two decades. Korey Cooper (Draft:Korey Cooper 2) has been interviewed in several large USA TV-networks - sometimes about her music, but also about how she manages parenthood with a life on the road as a famous rockstar. She is considered a role model to many young women (and men). To invite other wiki-contributors to help, I've added a stub, asking for additional information. That apparently was also a fault on my part. Finally - We can all find scores of far lesser known artists and personalities who has entries on Wikipedia (also some with stubs encouraging other wikipedians to add information). That makes this situation even more frustrating. This specific entry needs more information, yes. That's why I asked for it in a suited stub. Delete my entry, if you must. But please make someone with the right wiki-clearance (which I clearly don't hold) start an entry about Korey Cooper. Then I can submit/add my 50 pennies with no further trouble. I'll stop creating entries for Wikipedia from now on. I simply don't have the time, if I'm bound to be declined anyway. I hope you understand my rant. It's nothing personal. But perhaps you should consider a clearing process for new contributors, before a lot of good and well-meaning people waste precious time. Have a wonderful day -- Kmilling (talk) 11:14, 8 July 2021 (UTC) Kmilling (talk) 12:11, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Kmilling. Please note fandom.com, Metaxastalk.com, Drumstickcollector.com are not reliable sources that's why your submission has been declined. Please add some great sources such as news, newspaper, journals, magazines, Google books etc. AllMusic is a reliable source, but unfortunately a single source is not sufficient. biography of living people must be cited with a couple of great sources. Moreover, AllMusic may only be used to cite discography section. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 11:30, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- HiTheBirdsShedTears (talk) - I'll be taking a break away from the international WP-edition. I don't feel fully qualified to contribute, so to avoid unnecessary "cleaning up" for you guys, I'd better take a step back :) Thanks for you effort and kind help. Wikipedia is great - and needs to stay great. You still have my full support! --- Kmilling (talk) 15:27, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- If you feel there are non-notable articles on Wikipedia, you may nominate them for WP:AFD. Your draft lacks in-depth coverage in reliable sources. You will need to provide only 3 good sources that are reliable as well as independent. Thank you. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 14:44, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

- HiTheBirdsShedTears (talk) - I've added a few more sources now (Pittsburg Post-Gazette, Drumsticktalks and Riff Magazine) and cut out another (fandom). I must say, I'm am genuinely sorry if my own poor performance and lack of abilities on WP has lost Korey Cooper the chance to have an entry here :) Maybe someone else may have better success (and skills) than I obviously have - Thanks for your tremendous help and patience. Concern regarding Draft:Korey Cooper 2
editHello, Kmilling. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Korey Cooper 2, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 09:03, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- Page has now been edited and more valid sources have been added. I STILL insist the page is either published or merged with prior attempts to write/create an entry about this musician, artist and producer, who has entered the "Billionaire's Club" (+2 billion streams) with Pandora Music :) - Cheers, Kmilling (talk) 07:48, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
- Wonder if anyone ever pick up threads started by bots. Maybe TheBirdsShedTears (talk) would please have a look here? Kmilling (talk) 17:43, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- Please review WP:NMUSIC and improve your draft accordingly. In case, you think there are no sources available to satisfy notability, please let it be deleted to free up space occupied by non-notable subjects. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 05:43, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi TheBirdsShedTears (talk) - As written in earlier reply to to "Articles for creation: Korey Cooper 2 (July 8)":
- "I've added a few more sources now (Pittsburg Post-Gazette, Drumsticktalks, and Riff Magazine) and cut out another (fandom)."
- Noone has replied or taken any action to follow up, so I guess I am to conclude, that either I or the subject have be deleted/dismissed altogether. If not even two official music magazines and a Pittsburg newspaper are considered valid sources, I don't know what constitutes a valid source. It's easy enough to find and read about things you CAN'T do on Wikipedia. But I find it quite hard to find examples on what you actually CAN do (are allowed to use) on WP. On one page Allmusic.com is a valid source, on the next it is not a valid source. It's rather confusing. I've used Apple Music as a source sometimes, and I'm waiting to have those references reverted too. Cheers and thank you so much for your patience and time -- Kmilling (talk) 07:05, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
