Well, in fairness, not all of my changes. I spent the day editing a number Asian literary entries, as well, mostly aligning years and other information to current scholarship, as cited. But yes, of course, the majority are me. I am David Bannon, the same in the Wikipedia entry of that name. That is why I chose the name KoreaTranslation: the name clearly identifies me, I think, without being too terribly obnoxious. The entry under my name was solely about a crime for which I was convicted twelve years ago but that is not ALL I am. I did not change a word about the crime. I pleaded guilty and that information is accurate. However, as with anyone on the planet, there is more to our story. So I changed the personal information (to reflect the accurate name, birth date, birth place, etc). I should note that no one calls me "Race" anymore but they did at one time, so that remains. I created a personal life, career and bibliography section. Due to the nature of my conviction (criminal impersonation) I sourced every boring detail -- probably too much. If I had my choice, I wouldn't be on Wikipedia at all, but I brought this on myself. Now all I can do is hope that the Wikipedia entry under my name reflects the whole person: grave mistakes, yes; loss and grief; small attempts to rebuild my life. The more I edit Asian literary entries, the more I see what a vast task Wikipedia is. It's quite remarkable. I didn't realize. KoreaTranslation (talk) 22:29, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for the reminder. As you may have read above, I am in fact David Bannon. I have been absolutely transparent about my identity. My attempt with my personal entry -- which I did not create -- was to offer a more balanced discussion of myself. I am not just one arrest. After a few missteps, I followed the instructions provided and attempted to clean up all references and offer as balanced and neutral a perspective as possible on myself. In all fairness, an entry on me seems a bit tedious and uninteresting. My crime was hardly front page news and my subsequent work is more peripheral than anything else. Not nearly as interesting as so many other topics on Wikipedia.

Regarding other entries, a careful review of all my edits will disclose that I have attempted to participate in the community in a plethora of ways, far more than simply areas with which I am attached.

At the same time, as I mentioned above, I am attached peripherally to a number of television programs as a subtitle translator. When I came across an interesting segment about a person on Wikipedia, I thought it might be of interest to others to know the segment has aired. This is not promotion for myself, quite the opposite, my name is not mentioned in any way. Nor did I see it as promotion for the South Korean television station in question, though I can see how it might be misconstrued that way. The television programs have been linked to IMDb and not any company's site. If anything, it seems to be a unique way to participate in the community that expands the general knowledge about each subject. My attempt in all cases was to follow Wikipedia's guidelines in providing useful information with transparency and without promotion.

Promotion

Stop using Wikipedia to promote yourself and works you've been involved in. It's been mentioned to you above, and you agreed to abide by WP:COI but still you persist. If you continue to use Wikipedia to add references to your works and yourself then you will be blocked from editing. Canterbury Tail talk 21:59, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Thank you. Please see my response in the section above. As I mentioned, after our discussion and your concerns last June, I attempted to clean up the personal entry for a more neutral and balanced perspective. Since then I have made no edits. Again, a Wikipedia entry on me seems a little odd. I'm just not that interesting.

Regarding other works with which I am associated, I infer the discussion is regarding edits about South Korean television programs that I have translated. These edits to not promote myself in any way -- I am not mentioned nor is there any reason I should be. Nor is it promotion of my work. When I add an edit to mention that a certain subject has been featured on a documentary program, this does not seem to be promotion of the network or the program itself. Wikipedia is full of such information about documentaries on various subjects.

The Wikipedia guidelines seem to require transparency, which I have provided, and a neutral point of view. I have attempted to abide by this policy while offering edits from a unique perspective.

A careful review of all my entries will display I have done far, far more than provide edits that link to IMDb regarding a specific television documentary program. They are not all the same things and they are certainly not all advertising or promotion. I have provided edits to a plethora of entries with which I am not connected in any way, nor did I cite or link my own work on dozens of entries after the discussion last June. Regarding the latest entries, which are only a very small part of my contributions, it seemed a unique way to participate in the community. There was no promotion of myself and the program airs in South Korea -- it hardly needs advertising here in the United States. My attempt was to provide information with absolute transparency, in areas with which I am associated, yes, and in dozens and dozens of edits with which I have no connection whatsoever. Thank you for allowing me to participate in Wikipedia up to this point.
