User talk:Kushboy/archive-1
Welcome
editHello Kushboy/archive-1, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions — a busy lot of edits about Florida — keep it up. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- How to edit a page
- Editing tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Thanks
editThanks for adding the links to related subjects on the Corky Romano page. How did you come across it? I thought no one would ever see that page! I searched for "Corky Romano" earlier and was shocked it had no page, so that's why I wrote the article. Clinevol98 07:28, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
T.K. Wetherell
editI've listed the T.K. Wetherell page on Wikipedia:Copyright problems, as it was copied completely from the FSU site. Mike H 06:59, Mar 28, 2005 (UTC)
- Getting permission for the picture is fine, but why don't you write a stub on him using your own words? That's what I did for Judy Genshaft, my university's president. Mike H 17:21, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC)
Hi Kushboy, the category of Florida Sports Teams is redundant, since we already have a category for Florida sports, and every Florida sports team is already in that, or in Miami sports, or Orlando sports, or whatever. Myself and others have put in a lot of work to categorize all sports teams in every state propely and consistently. There is no point of having both categories (I do realize the "sports" category encompasses more than just teams), but there was a decision made on Wikipedia to avoid over-categorization if not necessary. Sorry for reverting your work. --Dryazan 22:42, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks
editAnd thanks for fixing my transclusion error on VfD. :) Did you see my note on the Ulster VfD? Dmcdevit·t 07:03, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
- Okay here's a few pointers. For copyright reasons, you can't just copy the page to another project. You must also copy the page history to credit the original authors (and fulfill the GFDL). You can do this by just going to the history page on wikipedia and copying it all and pasting it on the talk page of the target in Wikisource, like so. You also have to log it in in both transwiki logs, so in this case, you still have to add it to wikisource:wikisource:transwiki log. You could read up on more on the process at meta:transwiki, but I really didn't think it was much help to me. In the future, if you'd like to help us clear out some of the tremendous backlog (Category:Copy to Wiktionary, Category:Move to Wikibooks, etc.), you could use Cryptic's script at User talk:Cryptic/transwiki.js, it's what I use. This makes the process much easier, once you get used to it. Tell me if you have any more questions. Cheers! Dmcdevit·t 07:49, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
- Ah, awesome! I'd love if you could help. I may be wrong but it sounds to me like you've got it right and you just need to clear your cache. See the note at the top of User:Kushboy/monobook.js about bypassing your cache. Nothing will happen if you don't do it. I hope it's that easy fix, otherwise I'm not sure. Oh yes, and I was about to go to bed myself, I don't know where you are, but it's almost 2am here (and I hope you're not in Florida, because it's 5 there). Sleep well. UCF Trivia
editI strongly disagree with you. It's a Guinness Book Of World Record!
Plus last I checked.
Trivia - pl.n. (used with a sing. or pl. verb) Insignificant or inessential matters; trifles.
Bass
editNo problem. I wasn't even aware where bass led to, so I'm glad your edits brought them to my attention! - Echidnae 07:35, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
UF Template
editThanks a ton for adding the University template to the University of Florida article. I was in the process of doing that in March and forgot all about it. You rock. --Hoovernj 02:49, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
Hi, Kushboy. Please make sure that an article you transwiki isn't a copyvio. This is, from http://plagiarist.com/poetry/?wid=850. Now we need to get it deletead from Wikisource. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:27, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
Please note that Thivierr and others have now transformed this dicdef into a fine disambig. Cheers! -- BD2412 talk 19:41, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
I noticed from Category:Wikipedians in Florida that you are a floridian and I have created a state wikiproject, Wikipedia:WikiProject Florida. So far is it very small but it could be expanded later. Join it if you want and help set tasks etc. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 06:30, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Re: FSU seal
editCool. I was going to get it up but I've been busy. Just out of curiosity, did they send it to you or let you access to the secure site? TrbleClef ♮ (talk) 07:24, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Demme.gif
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Demme.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 15:59, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Reporting vandalism
editGreetings; I noticed you posted a warning on the page of 65.115.176.40. You said the next time s/he vandalizes a page, s/he'll be blocked from wikipedia. Well, it just happened. Please see the article history on University of Miami. Thanks much. 129.171.178.139 20:55, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
