Tredoku

edit

hi im new to wiki edit can u please help the article i did will not be delted ? i dont know what wrong wite it.its the tredoku article and im not sure this is the right place to write about can u help me edit the tredoku page please thanks the web page is on now. you can also search amazon and see that the book is real and for sale —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindome (talkcontribs) 13:41, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • While I'd like to help, without some sources to use as references which are independent of the game and its makers, the article is pretty much doomed. Even evidence of a book being published isn't enough - it needs to get noticed. A best seller list, a recommended books list, featured somewhere. Right now it's hard to see how this is "notable", however interesting or real it is. MadScot (talk) 16:39, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fringe Pilot AfD

edit

Due to the seeming confusion over the AfD caused by the two different articles, and the merging of the two into one, I have withdrawn the original AfD and nominated the single article for AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pilot (Fringe). As someone who commented on the original, I wanted to alert you to the new AfD so you can revisit and state your position on this single article. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 15:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Keep an eye on this new user. The user has been extremely possessive (as you may have seen) with the article(s) in question at AfD. I have already tried to create but as been blatantly ignored as is the case here. This looks like a one-way ticket to WP:RFC/U. MuZemike (talk) 07:23, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

    • You seem to be on a crusade. I told you to do as you please with any of my own comments on your talk page. You can make them as pretty as you like. But instead you prime yourself with objections and points of order and make judgements you are not informed to make. My suggestion is that whatever applies to me also applies to you. You have modified the appearance of your complaint to comply with your intentions. I have been taking screen shots of your page. You are doing something that I would never do. I have two screen shots showing that you moved the content of your talk page to falsely create the impression that you were being attacked. I feel sorry that it has come to this but you are doing this under your own free will. I disagree with your tactics. I am not a new user, nor am I a spastic, nor am I a single user account. Let's agree to quit at this - I find it negative. (gMiroj (talk) 04:06, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned Images

edit

Do I delete an orphaned image or do I just forget about it? Miroj (talk) 04:30, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Honestly, I don't know. If it's a problem eventually someone will fix it. I wouldn't worry too much about it. MadScot (talk) 17:22, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Beating up

edit

The article in question has been reduced to a disambig. Please renew your comments BMW(drive) 19:58, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, I only posted a comment, not a !vote (er, does that mean it WAS a vote? now I'm confused). If I can find a reference for the usage of 'beating up' I mentioned, I'll add it to tyhe page I think MadScot (talk) 20:06, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Ginger Jolie

edit

I see what you're saying. In a situation where someone borderline notable did something bad and good, but wants just the bad removed, that's a different situation than the one I was trying to handle with the close. Hopefully I didn't make it sound like we can start partially blanking things and violate POV. That's an issue for WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE, but that's not really a question of whether to delete the whole thing (though if they did both good and bad and requested full deletion, if borderline notable I would hope it would be granted). If I misread your statement let me know. As for the redlink, I'll see what to do in regards to that, I should probably protect it per BLP and the AfD close so it's not randomly recreated in a worse state. Wizardman 00:16, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

To answer your further question, had it been solely based on notability, then it would be dependent on the arguments established at the AfD. Assuming that it would have had roughly the same numbers and claims, then the close in that situation would have again been no consensus. However, since no consensus normally defaults to keep, that's what it would have been. If you mean what would the close have been with the exact same debate, just taking out the blp claims, then I couldn't answer that since there's too many variables involved. Re: Fritz Umgelter

Thanks for improving the article. There were no assertions of notability, so I tagged it. Now that I see he's a notable director, I think he would easily fail AfD, so there is no reason for me to nominate him. DARTH PANDAduel 13:38, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend

edit

Appreciate your note on International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend. I was just reviewing the sources you identified when Google Chrome crashed my computer. Will take a look (in a more stable browser) and see if it merits and AfD. Rgds, Bongomatic (talk) 05:21, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for removing the prod on the above page. I have had this happen before that people that have played first class cricket has been prodded. I will watch the page and see if anything further happens i.e. AFD. Thanks again. 02blythed ( for some reason i cannot sign properly.

List of most popular cat names, thanks for letting me know about the AFD. I'm not sure if it qualifies, but since the article is just reproducing the list on that babynames website, I'm trying to get it speedy deleted as copyright violation. I wish they would make some new categories for CSD.. hate putting stuff like this in AFD, but sometimes there's no choice. Thanks again. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 04:21, 7 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! IC Wikisoc!

edit

Dear MadScot, my name is Vinesh Patel, a 5th Year medic at Imperial. I'm trying to start an Imperial College Wikipedia society, presenting to the union by the end of the month. Would you be interested?

I got your username from the Category: Wikipedians by alma mater: Imperial College London page.

Here is a link demonstrating my work so far: http://www2.imperial.ac.uk/blog/reporter/2011/01/21/wikipedia-society/

My team and I want to get people working in groups for edits. Non-academic and academic edits would be great to work on in groups – an IC Wikipedia soc would be cool! This has already been achieved in the States but we would be the first student society in the UK. http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_student_clubs. We are also pursuing lots of other things – research into Wikipedia use, GLAM wiki stuff with local museums, using Wikipedia in teaching.

Whether you are a current student or alumnus, I think it would be great to get a community linked together from Imperial, which can give so much to the world’s free information because of the knowledge base here – and have fun doing it!

Myself and 6 other students are holding events at South Kensington campus Wed 9th and 16th; please get in touch at my talk page or e-mail to get into the movement in whatever capacity you can – you would be most welcome.Vinnypatel (talk) 01:58, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
