Re: Administrator

edit

I hate to say that your chances of adminship with a double-digit edit count are slim to none. Even without admin powers, you can still revert vandalism, and it would still be a great help to the wiki (I assume that you were saying you've found vulgar words in Maltese on the English Wikipedia, correct me if I'm wrong; Wikipedia has no control over outside sites.)

Still, if you do want to nominate yourself for adminship, go to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship and feel free to do so. Still, most users agree that you need a bare mininum of several hundred edits (under your username, your anon edits don't count) before being seriously considered. You (Talk) 20:16, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

To make things easier, please log in and then self-nominate. You can't self-nominate as an IP address. Guettarda 17:11, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • If you really want to be an admin, you've got to earn it! :) Spend some time making quality edits (while logged-in) and working with the community before nominating (if better, get nominated!) yourself for adminship. Working hard for something is definitely a rewarding experience. ;) In any case, all the best, happy editing! - Mailer Diablo 18:47, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Just so you know, if you do decide to run again in a few months and I don't see it (since I don't normally monitor the RfA page like some people do,) leave me a note on my talk page and I'll most likely support you. You (Talk) 18:28, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)

As will I. However, I do have WP:RFA on my watchlist. Keep working along, write some articles, participate in community decision making processes like WP:VFD, and soo you'll know enough of Wikipedia to be an admin. Good luck! Bratschetalk 5 pillars 00:01, Jun 27, 2005 (UTC)

Sure, I voted keep for it. While it does not seem terribly well written, it certainly has potential. Maltese Nobility

edit

Do you even consult on the net or even books before you have a fairy attack. Remember you will create enemies with your hadhazard approach if you dont atleast consult or make suggestions before you take the hard approach. Lastly most people have given a detailed biography of themselves. Why havent you?? If you seem to take a hardline then show yourself to the public and be counted. It may help you become elected in future. Create friends not enemies. Tancarville 15:04, 15 September 2005 (EST)

  • This is not a personal attack, only the immature would think it is, but an attack of the common sense. Tancarville 16:31, 15 September 2005 (EST)

Its a pity that you have cause some anguish on wikipedia, especially with Dr CA Gauci. He has taken this very personally and feels you are out to damage his good name. Please try and mend some fences before it does get out of hand. Tancarville 21.46, 21 September 2005 (EST)

The Association of Foreign Title Holders in Malta

edit

The Association of Foreign Title Holders in Malta looks very dodgy to me -- quite aside from my gut feeling that no association of foreign (or indeed indigenous) title holders anywhere is of any interest to anybody but its own members. It looks like group vanity. How does it seem from your perspective? -- Hoary 02:35, 26 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Personal Offence

edit

Its very nice that you have tried to explain yourself in my Userpage My, though we need to make a few points clear. 1. Thats great your leaving comments in each of the discussion page, BUT dont go into deletion mode within a day or so. Please try and let the author know that there might be a problem associated to it. 2. Wikipedia is time spent by myself which has been rewarding though I have a number of articles which still need improvements though time is a problem (Lack of). I am trying to find time to fix or add material to clean ups etc. Though Time is difficult, as I have many interests (Commercially and Personally outside this, which keeps me VERY busy. This is one of the reasons why I do get very annoyed with people who take matters quickly. 3. I hope we can become friendlier as I prefer to work with rather then to protect and fight against. My biggest problem is that I HATE working with someone that provides no data of themselves which makes it difficult to work. Just a personal thing, though, my contact details are on my main page. You are free to make contact with myself at anytime, I hope you do. 4. The Foreign Titles Assocation (FTA) is a mere modern organisation which was setup similiar to the Committee of Privildges (COP), though you need to understand that its members are also links to both groups. They are known in and out of Malta, also found in the Year Book of Malta. If you want to contact the President, I can easily arrange a contact number to hear for yourself what the importances of FTA are in modern Malta. I am willing to work with you, so long as your patient and understanding to all thinkings, not socialist thinking only.

I look forward to mending of fences with you. Tancarville 06:31, 29 September 2005 (EST)

  • Pity that you havent taken any time to reply as you normally do. Anyhow, my above comments do stand. Also, I should have directed you to an interview which is of interest to you and all of the Maltese nobility as a whole. This was recorded by a German Radio organisation. [1]. Listen to it and I would love to hear your comments. Tancarville 20.55, 3 October 2005 (EST)

There must be some more material about this monument or otherwise it wouldn't have been named World Heritage site. Do you have access to archaelogy journals in your university library? If so you could try to find some articles on it. Archives from local newspapers of the time the site was named World Heritage could also give you a lot of information about it.
Do you know if there are any excavations currently going on in the site? Do you know the results of Temi Zammit's own excavations? That again is useful information you could include in the article.
And don't worry about the comment in Peer Review. I already left a message on that person's page and asked him to be more polite. But you also have to realise that probably a lot of more things can be said about the Hypogeum. Cheers! -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 19:26, 23 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Hypogeum.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. The image was brought from an article in the german wiki on the same content Maltesedog 12:12, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I didn't realise for which image you were referring to. The source is an old government pamphlet, 1960's. Photos are possibly excluded from copyright in Malta, http://docs.justice.gov.mt/lom/legislation/english/leg/vol_13/chapt415.pdf see.. and the legislation did not exist when the photo was taken. your advice is necessary.

The situation is complicated enough that I'd suggest not using the image. Sooner or later someone will provide a photo with a clearer copyright. --Carnildo 07:55, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Richiesta di collaborazione

edit

Saluti LEGATVSLEGIONIS 02:41, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Requesting short translation

edit

I'm working on translating a biography from Italian to English, in order to write a featured article. If possible, can you please translate just this paragraph:

Thanks for your help :) — 0918BRIAN • 2006-03-14 04:44

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

edit

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:55, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Association of European Airlines

Hi, i notice you adding {{Association of European Airlines}} and a non-existant category Category:Association of European Airlines to a number of European airline articles, can I ask why? Nav templates at the foot of an article are used to link the user to related articles - I cannot see that there is much point doing this for a little known industry body? The category fair enough, but you also need to create it.

If you aren't, please read WP:C; copyrighted information is not allowed on Wikipedia. Thanks. Pruneautalk 23:44, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please note that a description of any item can never be copyrighted (just like source code). Maltesedog
I guess I didn't need to delete the whole section. However, "The motto ' Virtute et Constantia ' (by Valour and Firmness) shows that the glory of Malta was achieved by hard work, self-sacrifice and endurance. At the same time this is an indication of the virtues we have to put into practice to ensure a better future" is much more than a description - plus, the use of we was not encyclopedic. I like the new version much better, thanks. Pruneautalk 09:37, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Re your comment placed on the Malta article.. you thought the motto was part of the coat of arm. You wrote "when it is not". It was actually part of the coat of arm of Malta. Actually it was part of the National Emblem and Seal used during 1964-1975 see Coat of Arms of Malta, and for this reason I believe it is the motto. Also, I do recall, President Edward Fenech Adami referring to it as the motto, but there is no written proof, so its better to await an official reply from the Maltese government. Maltesedog 10:39, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I am aware of that. Virtute et Constantia is at least the former motto of Malta, but that doesn't say anything about it being the current motto. Pruneautalk 10:55, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Sliema

edit

Hi . I think the bit about Sliema being predominantly English speaking sounds kind of prejudicial, as is more of a myth nowadays. I visit Sliema weekly as my nanna lives there, and honestly, I don't think that the majority speak English more than Maltese anymore. It may have been so in the past, but I don't think it's true anymore. In fact, people have moved to Sliema from all over Malta now, so, apart from the few that have been there for a few generations, I don't think people in Sliema speak SIGNIFICANTLY more English for this to warrant a mention in an encyclopedia.

Remember, it's an encyclopedia not a magazine article, therefore something has to be based on facts and statistics. If 30% of Sliema residents speak only English, then describing it as "predominantly English speaking" isn't correct.

That's just my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.

TC! :)

Norman Lowell

edit

Greets. I appreciate you've long since moved on from this article - which I think is a biased mess "owned" by one user - but could you take a look at my attempts to try and restore some semblance of usefulness and let me know what you think. Talk:Norman Lowell

edit

I'm having a little discussion regarding what external links should be added to the Norman Lowell page. Perhaps you could enlighten me, but as far as I know, there's nothing wrong in adding external links leading to interviews/speeches/articles by the subject of the article himself. This user is saying that it's biases to add such links because they are "positive links"! He's also saying that the Maltafly website is sympathetic to Lowell, something which I cannot understand. Marcus1234 11:22, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

To be clear, you are mischaracterising what I am saying completely - I am not saying "it's biases to add such links because they are "positive links"!", as you put it. I am saying that providing Viva Malta/Maltafly/NVanguard in the external links is unneccessary because references to them as sources is already present in the article. External links are to be used sparingly on Wikipedia - and if possible, woven into the body of the article as they are here. Listing them out a second time at the end just looks like promotion, particularly when there is only one link expressly critical of Lowell. --SandyDancer 12:09, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
None of the sources in the article lead to any of his speeches or interviews, and only one of them leads to an article of his. Marcus1234 12:25, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
That wasn't my point. My point was, in so far as these sites provide useful in constructing an article for an encylopedia, they are used. Wikipedia need not provide links to databases of this person't speeches. It doesn't do that for other politicians --SandyDancer 18:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Permit to clarify this basing my knowledge on two years working for the Wikipedia when it comes to articles relating to Maltese personalities and Malta in general.

Basically, ideally external links should serve as a proof that the information in the article is correct and provide further insite on the personality. Any citation from any speech (preferably they should be in English) should be indicated, ideally by a reference as is being done in articles created by me such as the one of Censu Tabone. This is being down (if not overdone) in the article of Norman Lowell already.

Moreover, external links which provide further insite with regards to the personality concerned can be included, however, this does not mean that every article on Norman Lowell should be included. These should be kept to a minimum. Refer to other external links of other politicians for an idea

Personally, I am keeping back from working further on that article. I do believe the structure of the article, give too much detail, the article on the President/Prime Minister of Malta are shorter. This man, who is of relatively little importance in Malta, is being given unnecessary importance than he actually is. Maltesedog 21:46, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that. It seems that every little thing he has done in the past couple of years is listed in the article! Can you imagine listing the 'Zeppi il-Hafi" scandal on the Fench Adami page?? It'd be ridiculous. Many people seem to really hate this guy for some reason. Anyway, thanks for your response. Marcus1234 07:14, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Marcus, what we have to remember is that previously the article read like a propaganda piece for Lowell. One user (we know who he is) had put unreasonable warnings on the article to discourage other users, and was turning WP guidelines on their head to ensure that the article cast Lowell in a favourable light and excluded all information to the contrary. So the article as it stands may not be perfect but represents an attempt to balance it out over time, and after much (sometimes bitter) argument. I agree that the article gives Lowell lots of "airtime", but the fact that the PM and President of Malta have shorter articles perhaps shoudl lead us to think those articles should be extended, not that Lowell's should be shortened? --SandyDancer 11:36, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thing is, as I see it, every piece of info on the article is negative. Marcus1234 14:09, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I do not see why this discussion has moved over to my talk page, when my opinion about the article was that Norman Lowell, was that Lowell was being given to much importance as a person than the President and the Prime Minister. Lowell, is not notable as them, therefore we should not enter into unnecessary details in the article. Scandal's can be listed in the Fenech Adami page why not? Isn't their an article on the Sexgate and Watergate scandal? Just because Malta is a small island, should it have less privelege than the US for article content?

Well Marcus, if you see anything positive that's missing, just write it, however please do not remove any of the existing content without prior discussion on the Norman Lowell talk page as this might create some confuse..

Finally, Sandydancer, I would be grateful to know about your sudden interest on Malta and your nationality as it curioses me. Maltesedog 14:55, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deletion Of Brian Role?

edit

Hi there

How are you? This is very important please read as it referes to a deletion of a page. I know some people can sometime make mistakes and so am at this moment considering this a small mistake. Brian Role is the first ever MALTESE magician to perform on a professional in Malta as well as abroad has performed in various countries around the world, has been on TV several times, worked in grand stages, casino, cruise ships and much more.

In fact he is VERY WELL KNOWN in MALTA and ABROAD. He uses stage names which include but not limited to Brian & Lola, The Plames Magic but much better known as ROLEMAGIC. Do a google search on ROLEMAGIC ;)

He was also The President of The International Brotherhood Of Magicians IBM RING 202 MALTA and at the moment is acting as Assistant Secretary. Here is the rings website to PROOVE IT ring202malta.krayz.info Visit all the links to him in there, check past committees, check all the past events.

Also check this link http://www.independent.com.mt/news.asp?newsitemid=35038 an article on Brian Role in The Malta Independent nes Paper, there are many more that can be posted!!

Many magicians are posted on Wikipedia and it would be nice for Brian Role to be there too next to the others especially since he is from Malta and the only one to peroform on A PROFESSIONAL BASIS but am dissappointed that it has been deleted? And I am wondering why?

These are the guys who deleted thepage:- Maltesedog who slandered him as being 'INFAMOUS', Aplomado who said he was not 'NOTABLE' plus Maryshine and Dartvader. See below or the following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Brian_Role

Well Maltesedog I have tried to contact you personally but you cannot be emailed. I am waiting for you to ammend the mistake as soon as possible. PS just because BRIAN ROLE was not on Eurovision, because he provides high quality Illusion Shows and does not sing, it doesn't mean that he is 'INFAMOUS' . Also since you have been editing 'Surnames' pages in Search Malta, I think you ought to add this Surname too and do a little bit of research before actualy posting slandering like that.

I suggest your read wikipedia's official policies on Biographies, and the Wikipedia:Undeletion_policy and follow the instructions in there.

Moreover, if you are Brian Role kindly view the article on Autobiographies which may proof of help.

You will soon be contacted by other users on the basis of wikipedia conduct.

Maltesedog, he has threatened you with legal action - you should make sure he is reported for this. It is very serious. --SandyDancer 14:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
LOL, he's gonna take "further legal action"! Oh God, don't take this kid seriously... it would be hilarious though if it was Brian Role himself writing these comments! Anyway, I do personally think the deletion of that article was unjust and I would've doubtless voted in favour of it remaining if I had an account back then. Role is indeed the most prominent Maltese magician and the only one who has performed multiple times internationally, and I think that qualifies him as being notable as per Wikipedia's policy. But whatever. Marcus1234 15:49, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Marcus, but the problem comes up with regards to the notability. I mean a magician in Malta? How many English magicians are listed on wikipedia for instance? Maltesedog 20:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also keep an eye on User talk:88.203.28.46. Martinp23 20:37, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Brian Role

edit

Hi Maltesedog I appolgise if you felt as if i was thrething you with any legal action. it is not my nature to do so. But I am cross at the fact the the term 'INFAMOUS' is used against me. I know you did not mean to use it in its vocabulary sense but it may be taken very wrong by people who search me out. Also, being a magician in Malta who has managed to make an international name should well be mentioned. I have included 'Notable' articles from independent sources such as news papers and other magician's sources in order to proove that I am quite notable and nothing I said was false or blown for any publicty reasons. The reason for the page brian role is to make a historical mark on something whihc rarely happens in Malta that a magician becomes fully professional and get internatioanlly known. Out of the 30-40 Magicians in Malta, I am the only one to become fully professional in my career. Please check out the Deletion Review Brian Role [[4]] and check the links to the independent articles and then maybe you can change your mind if I am 'Notable' or not.

Hi brian.

First of all sign the messages you write using the three tides. I do apologise for writing the word "infamous". Not of notability for wikipidia would have been more appropriate. However, I have now seen the articles in the various newspapers etc as seen in the deletion review, and posted a Neutral opinion about it. I hope this clears the matter. It is not recommendable as per wikipedia policies to write autobiographies, as these may be viewed as an advertisement. However, I hope now that the conflict has been resolved, and I wish you a good future in your job Maltesedog 08:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Maltesedog

I ma quite a new user and getting the hang of it, especially signing. I also did not know about bio policies, I have just learnt these couple of days. However passing by some positive bio of a person who is actually notable in Malta should be considered as a good thing. Maybe you can do it, being an independent person, and someone who contested in the first place or else I can get an independent professional journalist to do so, but I would prefer you do it since you now have confirmed your 'Neutrality' on the subject, plus it will help you understand a little more about judging a person before doing any research. Also, just today, I have been invited to yet another interview for a local newspaper, I could easily pass on a copy to you. Actually I can pass on a folder full of intervies from past news papers and a truck load of videos from past television appearances to help you out. It is not my interest to make publicity here. I get enough of it already, but it is my interest that my acheivments are documented as they should be, as I have set a land mark for other local magicians in Malta, who require the push since they are outdone by other media events who mainly focus on singing and dancing and forget other forms of performing arts, magic included. If this was the case in other countries, we would have never heard of magicians such as Paul Daniels and Copperfield and many more. I also am trying to stay out of the limelight of local television appearances since I had a very bad experience with a local program last year. We lost performances in Spain to come back and perform on a television program in Malta. Yet the persons in charge of the program did not keep their word and we lost a great deal of money and work. Rolemagic 16:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maltesedog

Thank you for reconsidering your decision and for proposing relisting of the Brian Role article. You have contributed to the art Of Magic in Malta. I have viewed the Magic(illusion) page and can definetly contribute additional informative articles to it. Regards Rolemagic 22:31, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

You are quite right that it was incorrect for this user to threaten legal action. Now that the Wikipedia policy has been drawn to his attention, and especially since he has apologised, there is no need for further action. In resolving disputes, and especially with new users, the first step must always be to bring the policy to the person's attention. If they refuse to conform to the policy, then consideration can be given to taking action against them. In this case, bringing the policy to his attention has been sufficient.

We should always tread lightly with new users. He is clearly unaware of Wikipedia policies on bigraphies and especially autobiographies.

You should take heed of what he has to say about "infamous". Here in Canada it is used only in the pejorative sense. I don't know about Malta. If it was inappropriate, then you should withdraw it and apologise. I hope this helps. Ground Zero | t 18:04, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Location Maps

edit

On the WikiProject Countries talk page, you had either explictly declared a general interest in the project, or had participated at a discussion that appears related to Location Maps for European countries.
New maps had been created by David Liuzzo, and are available for the countries of the European continent, and for countries of the European Union exist in two versions. From November 16, 2006 till January 31, 2007, a poll had tried to find a consensus for usage of 'old' or of which and where 'new' version maps. At its closing, 25 people had spoken in favor of either of the two presented usages of new versions but neither version had reached a consensus (12 and 13), and 18 had preferred old maps.
As this outcome cannot justify reverting of new maps that had become used for some countries, seconds before February 5, 2007 a survey started that will be closed at February 20, 2007 23:59:59. It should establish whether the new style maps may be applied as soon as some might become available for countries outside the European continent (or such to depend on future discussions), and also which new version should be applied for which countries.
Please note that since January 1, 2007 all new maps became updated by David Liuzzo (including a world locator, enlarged cut-out for small countries) and as of February 4, 2007 the restricted licence that had jeopardized their availability on Wikimedia Commons, became more free. The subsections on the talk page that had shown David Liuzzo's original maps, now show his most recent design.
Please read the discussion (also in other sections α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ) and in particular the arguments offered by the forementioned poll, while realizing some comments to have been made prior to updating the maps, and all prior to modifying the licences, before carefully reading the presentation of the currently open survey. You are invited to only then finally make up your mind and vote for only one option.
There mustnot be 'oppose' votes; if none of the options would be appreciated, you could vote for the option you might with some effort find least difficult to live with - rather like elections only allowing to vote for one of several candidates. Obviously, you are most welcome to leave a brief argumentation with your vote. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 7 Feb2007 20:24 (UTC)

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Isep.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Hello – thanks for the message. I had to look deep in my logs for that article – it was an expired PROD I deleted on September 7, four months ago.

The PROD concern says it all, so I won't repeat it here. Since it has been so long and the article was unreferenced and orphaned, it would be best to create a new article on the subject. There's no bar to creation of a better, referenced article after a poor one has been deleted by PROD, and you sound like the guy to write this one! Changing the names of the Maltese village articles

edit

There is currently an ongoing debate about whether the articles on Maltese villages should be given their English names. Kyarichy has already gone and renamed a bunch of articles such as as Kalkara citing these changes from an old obsolete paper and http://www.geody.com, even though these names are no longer in use.

The naming convensions clearly state that foreign location names commonly used in English should be used as the article names.

It would be appreciated if you could assist us in this discussion. ~ ► Wykebjs ◄ (userpage | talk) 10:58, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Holies.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:35, 24 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 06:35, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for File:Holies.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Holies.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Speedy deletion of Mary Fenech Adami

edit

A tag has been placed on Mary Fenech Adami, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

of a lack of content. Very brief article. Information would be better placed in Malta article

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. . I do not know if this article is a work in progress or whether it is intended to be expanded later, if so, I would advise the use of the "hangon" template. I nominated the article as it gives very little information, such information as one might expect to find in the main page for Malta. I hope I have not caused any offence in so doing. Image permission problem with Image:Statuegoodfriday.jpg

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Statuegoodfriday.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — neuro(talk)(review) 12:17, 17 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Queenofmalta.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk)(review) 12:19, 17 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quinqueliteral (5-letter) roots in Maltese

edit

Hi Maltesedog! Could you maybe help me out: I would like to know if the Maltese language exhibits any roots with five or more consonants – also if they only exist only in slang. If it does, are these roots inflected as verbs, as nouns, as adjectives etc.? Are these inflections problematic? How does the National Council for the Maltese Language address these roots? How do speakers of Maltese regard these roots? Any information (and many examples!) would be greatly appreciated! Please write me here on my talk page. Winston Churchill's Britain At War Experience

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Winston Churchill's Britain At War Experience, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.britainatwar.co.uk.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. Proposed deletion of Blata l-Bajda

The article Blata l-Bajda has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No citations

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
