Welcome!

edit

Hello, MarthaAnsara, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Australian Directors Guild, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! thanks HasteurBot I am not sure where I should be answering your letter -- sorry. I passed on the criticism of the article to the subject and asked for additional references which would demonstrate his notability. And he has not yet provided them. He IS notable s an Australian film critic -- but maybe that's not notable enough.... I will ask him once more for the references -- and if he doesn't do it asap. Then we should delete the article. I'll let you know as soon as I can. regards MarthaAnsara (talk) 05:48, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Martha AnsaraReply

Australian Directors Guild

edit

Dear Friends -- incl Missvain, I do not have nor have had any office or employment from the Australian Directors Guild. I am not even a board member, nor have I ever been. I am merely a long time member trying to contribute a little task that I saw needed doing -- namely, to put the history and information about the ADG on wikipedia. I find contributing to Wikipedia a bit confusing at times....but I did read the various guidelines. I don't know where there could be a conflict of interest. I have over the years written many articles about film and film business for Australian magazines and saw this as just another. Could you be more specific about what might be wrong with the article. Thanks very much for any help you can give MarthaAnsara (talk) 05:43, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Martha AnsaraReply

Your draft article, Draft:Russell Edwards

edit

Hello MarthaAnsara. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Russell Edwards".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Russell Edwards}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 02:27, 7 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I can't find the article, as I wrote earlier and it's all just too hard! i give up. I enjoyed it but can't do it if I can't find the article that mysteriously disappeared and won't come back! MarthaAnsara (talk) 09:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Martha, HasteurBot isn't a person but a program written to take care of basic automated tasks. The reason the article was deleted was because it had gone stale, meaning that you hadn't edited it in six months. While the first deletion was improper given that you had started editing the article, the second deletion was proper since you hadn't resumed editing after successfully requesting that it be restored at WP:REFUND. I'm willing to restore this a second time but I need some sort of assurance that you'll work on it this time. You can do this by responding here or at the REFUND request here. I do need to warn you that if this is restored again and it doesn't get edited, it's unlikely to be restored a third time. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:18, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • It's better if you do it at the REFUND page since I'll be logging off soon and might not see this talk page message, whereas there's usually an admin watching the REFUND board and can see your message before I log back in, which might be at least a day or two right now since I have some reading for school to finish. Hi Martha. I was curious about the Draft:Russell Edwards page, so I asked for it to be restored. Feel free to continue editing it. ★NealMcB★ (talk) 16:29, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear Nealmcb and whoever else is out there (sorry I can't find the REFUND page) I have once again submitted my article about Russell Edwards (a different Russell Edwards to the bloke from the USA who already has a page). I have included references which verify what I have written about his activities/positions. On the whole, film critics write about others -- not very many of them are themselves the subjects of articles the way filmmakers are. But I have included plenty of references TO Russell Edwards -- as compared to articles BY him.

I originally wrote this article as i thought it would be an easy way of dipping my toe into wikipedia, and followed it with a more complex article about the Australian Directors Guild which required much more research and design. Alas, I found writing these little articles enjoyable but too difficult for me in terms of meeting the wikipedia requirements and have (at least for now) given my attempts away. However, I did want to finish what I started. Hence this final submission on Russell Edwards. Thanks to everyone who has tried to help me!! I may get a second wind.
