Welcome to my Talk Page
Hello, and welcome to my talk page. Please use this space to alert me to any discrepancies with articles I edit (or suggest things I can add). If I've reverted an article or warned a user unnecessarily, please let me know here, too. I am a frequent user of VandalProof -- which means I revert a lot of vandalism quickly. I try to make a thorough judgment of the situation, but I make mistakes. If you reached this page because I reverted an edit and/or warned you, please start a new section on this page and let me know what happened. I'll fix it as quickly as possible. Thanks!

Please Read This First Before Commenting!
Warning

I work very hard to make constructive edits and, perhaps more often, revert acts of vandalism I find. I try hard to revert vandalism, but I will try even harder to get things right. If I have made a mistake -- and it will happen -- I ask you to be patient with me and kindly explain the situation. I will do whatever is necessary to make things right. Treat me with courtesy and understand I make mistakes, and I will work hard for you.

If you would like to leave me a message, please start a new section at the bottom of this page. I may not respond to comments left at random. Click here to start a new section of this page.

When Adding a Comment:

1) Please start a new section and add a descriptive header (preferably with a link to the page in question, etc)
2) Sign your comments using four tildes: ~~~~. That way, I know where to look when investigating the situation. If you don't, I am less likely to respond -- though I'll probably just use the {{subst:Unsigned| template.
3) Though it's not necessary, it helps to use a bullet at the beginning of each entry by adding an asterisk * at the start of your comment. Also, for additional comments, it helps to indent by adding an additional colon : for each comment. This offsets each comment and improves readability.
4) Finally, again, I make mistakes. Please be understanding and courteous, and I promise to do all I can to fix anything I've done wrong. Give me the benefit of the doubt, and I'll do the same for you.

I will respond to you on this page. Please check back here, and consider putting this page on your watchlist, if you want me to respond. I may sometimes respond on your talk page as well, though not always -- check here if you have not received a response.

Also, I will periodically archive items (every 25 or so). While I appreciate anyone who reverts vandalism to this page, it isn't necessary -- as long as nothing is deleted, I'll keep any comments.

Madonna

edit

Hi Meeples, I see you removed my comment on Madonnas page, which is fair enough, but I also think that it is plain that the section of the article I commented on is nonsense rantings. It is clearly the opinion (not factual quotings) of a fan, and needs to be cleaned up or removed. Do what you will anyway, and good job keeping the place tidy. x — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.45.196.194 (talkcontribs)

I edited the Objectiveness section. I tried not to put any personal comments but a few facts and added sources. If it's out of place, the Criticism section is out of place too. Some artists' articles such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey don't even have a Criticism section. It WAS full of rants such as "We all know she can't write lyrics...", "...even for a retard.", "...became the biggest star of the world by hiring the right people..." Some artists' articles such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey don't even have a Criticism section. Israell 13:29, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's my edit:

However, criticism is often motivated by one's personal opinions, judgements and bias. Madonna's voice has often been criticized but rare were the reviews of her Love Don't Live Anymore cover.

Madonna wrote lyrics such as "Don't go for second best baby. Put your love to the test. You know, you know you've got to make him express how he feels and maybe then you'll know your love is real. -Express Yourself-"[1], "When you walked out my door I knew you'd be back for more. Let's leave the past behind. True love is so hard to find. -Stay-"[2], and "So I went into a bar looking for sympathy, a little company. I tried to find a friend. It's more easily said. It's always been the same. This type of modern life is not for me. This type of modern life is not for free. -American Life-"[3].

Bias, jealousy, and hatred can push someone, even a professional journalist, to write horrible things that they just cannot back up. There is a huge difference between a fact and an opinion. Israell 13:45, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Meeples. I just wanted to say sorry for carrying on too much about you moving my page. I was immature and hope that you can help me if I ever have any questions, because I don't really know much about editing and so on. Sorry again Kate602 02:10, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't me spamming Caster Oil

edit

Regarding the nasty gram I just received when I entered Wiki, it wasn't me spamming the Castor Oil pages. Quite frankly I'm a passive Wiki user and don't even know how to edit a Wiki page.

As you are most certainly aware, a vast majority of the internet users have dynamically assigned IP addresses. Clearly this seems to create a problem in allowing anonymous changes to Wiki, but you should be a little more gentle in you posting lest you discourage the common user from visiting Wiki in the future. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.136.58.42 (talk) 02:29, 14 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

  • I am aware of the problem of the wrong user getting such warnings. However, I felt the strength of my warnings were needed because the spamming continued after I first posted a warning. I believe that such warnings are an effective way of actually stopping such activity, and that proved to eventually be the case in this situation. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 03:23, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Madonna Dispute

edit

Please come to the Madonna discussion board. There is a dispute going on. Some people felt like the opening paragraphs were glamourizing her but now they are going too far. "fashion icon" was there and was replaced it by "fashion trendsetter". You've had no problem with it. Neither did I. Most people had no problem with it. Now, someone removed it.

"commonly referred to as Queen of Pop" was always there. A few people had a problem with "commonly". It was replaced by "sometimes" and now one of them want it "QOP" completely gone... They also removed the "Confessions Tour" info that was there for weeks. Yet, they have no problem with a Forbes info someone added that is less relevant.

Please voice your opinion there. Thanks! Israell 07:18, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tubists or tuba players?

edit

Removed cfdnotice, cfd has completed. --Kbdank71 16:37, 9 May 2008 (UTC) In fact, the discussion covers whether the main category and all of its sub-categories should be Category:Tubaists, Category:Tubists or Category:Tuba players, and so on. Please take any views you have to the discussion page there.Reply
I think that people that know what they are talking about should comment, because there are things being written like, "'tubists' seems clearly incorrect ... to judge by the ... comments."
In the absence of knowledgeable discussion, an outcome based on ignorance can result.
I'm not getting the impression that most of the participants are serious tubists. -- Rico 04:17, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Julian Cordero

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Julian Cordero, by Tecmobowl, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Julian Cordero seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Julian Cordero, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Julian Cordero itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 05:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • This appears to have been cleared up by an admin already. Frankly, I think the notability is questionable, although it seems most athletes have a page of some sort. Could have gone either way in my opinion. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 18:06, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

This anonymous edit was in fact in good faith, contributed to the article, and even came with a descriptive edit summary. Perhaps you should be a little less zealous in your quest to rid Wikipedia of vandalism. --RucasHost (talk) 23:39, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Meeples! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 492 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
