Quick note on PBA Tour

Thanks for your edits to PBA Tour. In this Special:Diff/1141792007 edit summary you have described my edit as a "bogus edit" to my knowledge I had fixed bare URLs using the refill tool Special:Diff/870403824. I did not add the reference in the first place. I did not know using the refill tool was a bogus activity? such use of edit summary to abuse someone's not-so-bad edit is not good at all. I think there's some misunderstanding, as I described the reference you used as bogus ("bogus reference", not "bogus edit") and I think that's accurate. In your change Special:Diff/870403824, you removed the existing title of "PBA Experience" and replaced it with "BOWL.com - Page Not Found". Indeed, you didn't add the reference, and it was in better shape before your edit because it had a correct title. Using ReFill isn't a bogus activity, but using it to make edits without first reviewing them for correctness can result in problems like this one -- and even worse! (See Wikipedia:ReFill#Health_warning). Since few people check references, this error was visible for more than 4 years before I found it and fixed it by placing a correct title and hooking up a link to an archived version of the page. -- Mikeblas (talk) 17:22, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Careful use of pinging

Hello. I am not sure why you pinged me for an edit made almost two years ago. I didn't delete urls - refill 2 reformatted them. Thus, your edit summary is misleading I am sure that things will have changed with them urls in the intervening time so I am glad you cleaned them up. Thanks for your work on WikiP articles. Regards. Before your edit (as you linked) the reference pointed at http://www.ine.cl/canales/usuarios/cedoc_online/censos/pdf/censo_1907.pdf. After your edit, the reference pointed at http://ine.cl/error-404. Your edits also gave a title of "Error 404", which isn't appropriate. The only changes between your edit and the last version before I started making fixes was by a robot that added a hyphen to the "archiveurl" parameter names. The ReFill documentation says You are responsible for every edit that ReFill 2 suggests so you must take the time to inspect every citation that this tool creates and fix anything that isn't quite right.

As I said I did not delete any urls. Mistakes happen and can be fixed. If you've never made one that is great. The fact that things have changed since then is fine but please do not use misleading edit summaries or ping me if you find anything like this in the future. The diff you posted, yourself, shows that you replaced a useful URL with a link to a custom 404 page. Is it that you're quibbling about that not being "deletion"? -- Mikeblas (talk) 18:26, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Is there some part of please don't ping me in edit summaries that is too tough for you to understand? FYI I stopped working with refill a year or so ago so your pings are not accomplishing anything. I don't keep a list of people who don't want to be notified about my changes to their edits. You can always mute pings from me, or any other user. You also might consider going back through your history to review the edits you've made. -- Mikeblas (talk) 20:53, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

I should add that there is no policy requiring you to ping people in edit summaries. You have been around long enough to see threads at ANI about people who ping other editors when they have been asked not to do so. I don't know what you think you are accomplishing.
