Great work! Maybe write on Amna Suraka Museum next?

If you're around Slemani, we also lack an article on Amna Suraka Museum , if you would like to tackle that topic.

I emphasize though, you need to use more outside citations, like news media, international organizations, etc. to prove facts about the museum, not just quote the museum itself. And we do not need hours, prices, etc since this is an article for the ages, not a tour guide for this week.

Jurors for WikiScienceCompetition 2017

Hi. I can see from the information on your profile that you work in the academia. this is probably your profile.

I am looking for expert active wikimedia users with academic background and some bibliometric record (so I can prepare their wikidata items) to work as jurors for the next Wiki Science Competition. We still miss volunteers from countries without a national jury, like Malaysia. You would represent with nationality and workplace some countries that we miss. Plus, we only have one juror is a doctor, but noone in the second-level jury.

Would you be interested to join?

The jurors are not supposed to be all wikimedians, but we wish to promote the use of the images on the platforms and show that there is a continuum between the wiki-world and the academia. At the same time, I want all the jurors to show they are involved in the peer-reviewed process, so the uploaders can see they are students and researchers like them.

You might get visibility in exchange (the site will receive thousands of visits).

Let me know. The event starts on 01/11/2017 or maybe two weeks later. We can define the last details of the jury during the month of November, but we'd like to be almost ready in two weeks, in order to provide the challengers with a rough idea of the composition of the juries.

In any case, we can contact you next time if you are still interested but you can't join this time.

Also if you can spread the news around in your working environment, that would be great!

I have just photographed the wax statues/sculptors and I have already mentioned that the name of the sculptor was not mentioned; wax museums don't mention the name of the persons, who have made the statues, within the description beside the statues. There were no modifications or transformations in my images. I'm not sure whether this would be coined by the term "derivative work" or not? Please advise? The point is that copyright belongs to the creator of a work, or their employer (depending on the terms of their employment contract), whether or not they are named by the museum. Copyright generally (in the United States) remains in force until 70 years after the creator has died, or 100 years from creation for a corporate product. A general principle in Wikipedia is that a work created or published in 1923 or later is assumed to still be under copyright until it is proven that the work has passed into the public domain. I'm very grateful for this explanation! As you (may) know, I'm a neurologist and an associate professor, and yes I was an editor-in-chief and a guest editor, but my field is distant from this subject of photography. I live in Iraq and I have photographed a vast number of objects in Museums around the World, and I have uploaded quite a few numbers here in Wikipedia and Wikimedia. These images have helped many authors (books and articles) around the World because of their CC BY-SA-40.0 license. Therefore, the last thing to do is to intersect with copyright issues. Many of my images mention that the name of the sculptor/creator was not mentioned or I have mentioned his/her name clearly, including the year of their work's creation (if available). Please, I would be grateful if you may kindly advise me on what to do with respect to this subject in the future when I upload images? Warmest regards. @Kablammo and Donald Albury: Since there seems to be some misconception here. This isn't black and white as you make it out to be. It depends entirely on where the photo was taken. Every country has various levels of freedom of panorama associated with them. For example, the wax figures at Madame Tussauds in London can be photographed freely and posted here provided the photographer releases the photos under a free license. c:COM:FOP#United Kingdom has a very permissible FoP standard for three-dimensional works. If those same photos were taken in Iraq they would not be acceptable. --Majora (talk) 00:01, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

@HistoryofIran: Excellent, your feedback has become clearer. Volunteerism is the backbone of Wiki. Each and every contribution (excluding vandalism of course) is appreciable. Volunteerism encompasses time, efforts, and many times spending money. However, not every contributor is a full-scale expert when he/she contributes to this or that page. Fruitful feedback or comment from an expert would always be encouraging and educating, rectifying an unintentional drift. I'm not an expert in IT language, history, archaeology, etc. (I'm a professor of neurology), but I always try my best to help out others with my free, high-quality, and up-to-date images of artifacts or places that are not easily inaccessible to the rest of the World, say from Mesopotamia (Iraq). These images have helped quite a few people, scholars, TV documentaries, galleries, and exhibitions, etc. All are free. I have noticed that many comments/feedback here in Wikipedia are some derogatory if not insulting, frankly. When people read these comments, especially if directed towards contributors who have no alias (or username, to hide their real-life identity), their reaction and thoughts are, many times, negative. I don't think phrasing a neutral sentence would be difficult. I'm sure you are experienced with this matter and you have acted for the best of interest of that page, in order to be as perfect and credible as possible. I have asked 5 people to give me their opinion about my coins' images and their pertinent pages edition, in one word. The reply was: spamming, spammer, vandalism, inefficiency, illiteracy. You see, I appear counterproductive. I'm not feeling offended, but I would rephrase your comment (Please take your concerns to the talk page of the articles or something instead of adding irrelevant images to several articles, thanks.): "Thank you for contribution and your high-quality images, but I believe that your images have not conveyed any new information to the readership and they have occupied an extra space. In addition, the images already present in those pages are more clear as they have been photographed in studios and are photoshopped. Therefore, I have reverted your edits." By the way, I believe "even worse" refers to the coin's condition. These coins are never-before-seen and have been displayed for the very first time in June 2019 in the Sulaymaniyah Museum, Iraq. They did not undergo much restoration/cleaning. They are a somewhat in dim case, flat on the base; very difficult to photograph! Wish you all the very best and good luck!

Pythagorean theorem

I notice you just added a photograph of the tablet IM 67118 to the Babylonian mathematics article. Since Wikipedia has an article on that very tablet, would you consider adding the image to that article as well? I don't suppose you have a photograph of the reverse of the tablet also?

Your work is amazing! The image at CDLI is very poor in comparison—it's just a copy of the photograph in Baqir's original journal article. Do you work in some official capacity with the Museum or do you just take these photos as a visitor? Your IM 67118 photo is dated March 2019. Was it really taken just last year? Hi. Thank you for your note. I have just added it to the article. The way they display the tablet prevents you from taking photos of the reverse aspect. I believe this is the obverse (or the reverse?). Yes, the CDLI's image belongs to professor Bakir (RIP), a scanned one. Mine was shot during my visit to the Iraq Museum in March 2019. Within a short 2-hour visit, I shot 1000s of high-quality images, rapidly. I'm just a fan of photography and I love Mesopotamia. That's it! Thank you. Regards. I totally understand your comment about the rudeness of some contributors. Wikipedia is an exercise in humility: you are never protected from a complete cultural jerk challenging your contributions. You are never shielded from the abuse of some foul-mouthed otaku or nationalist. But in the end, it does not really matter, it is the characteristic of the internet, being open to anyone, from anywhere, of any age group and from any cultural background. Nobody really cares about rude language or attitudes, you just have to stay above the fray, and disengage when it turns unpleasant. What defines us is not the abuse we are submitted to, but the way we respond (or don't respond!) to it. What is important is that, thanks to the openness of this system, we can indeed contribute to the knowledge of the world, probably better and with more efficiency than any other system available. I have visited the British Museum several times. The rest are not on display and appear to be displayed with the special exhibition of Ashurbanipal II; I did not attend that exhibition because I thought photography is prohibited, as in all other exhibitions, but surprisingly, people shot many pics and I missed it! @Elias Ziade: Hi. It should be deleted because of "borderline notability and few reliable sources?" The Citadel of Erbil houses many small museums and permanent exhibitions. My intention was to include these displays to render the image of the Citadel more complete to the readership; for example, the article of the Citadel did not mention these places within the Citadel and I added them, started by creating the pertinent articles one after another. The articles should be small, as the museums/exhibitions are small and many are relatively new. I've created 4 so far. That's it. Let's take this example of the Kurdish Textile Museum within the Citadel. I have no comment on it but the Exhibition of Miniature of Kurdistan Costumes seems much much better, in comparison. Nominate it for deletion? I have come across 10s and may be 100s of Wiki articles that are similar to the Textile Museum's one (very abbreviated with no sources). Therefore, they should be deleted, as well. I will not discuss this on the deletion page of the Exhibition of Miniature of Kurdistan Costumes. You can delete it now, and delete the other pertinent ones; Erbil Stones and Gems Museum, Turkmen Heritage House, and Kurdistan Music Archive. By the way, the references you added to the latter were duplicate (2-4) and the 5th one was entirely unrelated to the article, but I did not wanted to "..." you. I don't know how to delete the remaining 3; either you do it (I would be grateful) or else I will try to find someone more experienced on Wiki to delete them (they all share the same criteria of borderline notability and few reliable sources I believe). @Elias Ziade: No, you delete them. I will not. I think they are great (including the page you intend to delete for some reason or another) in spite of their short history and the no one cared about creating such pages of these small museums (with images). If you don't delete all of them, including the very defective Kurdish Textile Museum one, it means that you have a specific intention against something unrelated to the page itself. I will not correspond further and I will not contribute to Wikipedia/Wikimedia anymore. After all these years, I have encountered several underestimating, derogatory, and intimidating acts but I said its OK. Eventually, I feel it was just a waste of time, effort, and money of course.
