RE: Cabals

It's a complicated matter. Right now, the community is very divided on this matter; some believe cabals should stay, some believe they should be deleted. Keilana chose to delete all of them for now, because she believed all they were doing was splitting up the community and having a negative effect. This decision has been contested, so some of them have been restored; there's going to be a request for comment on the matter as soon as I write one up. You can see relevant discussion here. I restored the page, per what I read in the DRV discussion, and the closer's remarks.

A few things to consider:

• This may be MfD'ed by anyone, and likely will be.
• You might want to consider a rename to the page without the word "cabal". I'd be happy to help with suggestions.
• You also might want to think of some creative ways in which the "hook" of your questionaire may help inspire others to help collaborate on related articles.
• My restoring it wasn't so much a "support" of the page, as it was that I (and others, apparently) think it was different than the rest which were grouped together.

I'll give the rename and such other suggestions some thought. My initial thought is that just as 42 is "The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything", so too could that be said (in hyperbole) about Wikipedia. Something to ponder at least... - jc37 04:41, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Let's keep me as a neutral observer (for now, at least). It's probably better all around.

Also, I've already edited the userbox, and moved it as well. Working on fixing its links first. I've also deleted the "accepted into the cabal" template (the "wiki-way" is openness to anyone, which you've pretty much shown anyway : ) - jc37 17:02, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

(de-dent) - Ok, I've fixed most of the links. I left several because, since they discussed it as a cabal, they should probably be redlinks.

One last note: Based on your "aims", once you have several "participants", and this becomes fairly active, you might consider becoming an "official" work group of WP:HHGTTG. But let's see 42 developed a bit more first.
