Sockpuppeter or not, ItsLassieTime seems not to have fabricated Don Juan (ballet). I have more than a passing familiarity with ballet and music but am on vacation and will not spend any more time on this till I get back to NY at the end of the month. — Robert Greer 15:42, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
If you can validate the sources, feel free to do so and take responsibility for the content. As of now, though, until this validation is done, the tag needs to remain per the lengthy discussions on their edits (and findings of fabrications and incorrect claims on other articles they did with the same sock). — Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:02, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello
Hello there sir, are you back from your travels? How was London? Did you manage to get out before the Arctic weather arrived? We hit -20c last night, and my parents have had to abandon their planned holiday to Tunisia. — Crazy-dancing (talk) 19:59, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
No, sirree, sir, by no means am I back, sir! Though I did flee London for Denmark with the winter storm nipping at my heels (your poor parents!) The crowning glory of a week in Copenhagen was the Royal Danish Ballet's double bill, Bournonville and Balanchine. The former represented by Sylfiden, Mr. B. by Symphony in C, a brilliant pairing given the Scottish dance in the fourth movement of the latter. In London I got to the theatre ten times in six days, including the Bourne Swan Lake and both the ENB and Royal Ballet Nutcrackers. I'm in Stockholm the next three weeks, and the Royal Swedish Ballet have one Nutcracker left in their schedule. They change the libretto a bit to align it with some well-known Swedish children's literature, And they dancing a lovely Coppélia. Outside of which there are over a dozen plays up at the two major institutional theatres. Back in London I spent three days at the National Theatre, two shows a day. I also saw femme fatale Camille O'Sullivan on New Year's Eve; Édith Piaf and Janis Joplin in equal measure! I can e-mail you a half-price coupon for her show if you're interested. — Robert Greer 11:03, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Although I agree that the redirects you nominated for speedy deletion should actually be deleted, they don't fall into any of the criteria for speedy deletion. I have nominated them for deletion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2010 January 25#1th, 2th and 3th, as should be done with redirects which one believes should be deleted but which don't fall into any CSD. — עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:50, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for putting them in the right place; I was not aware of the distinction. — Robert Greer 18:22, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello! I am currently working on the "Swedish Project" and "Award and Prizes"'s article Nobel Prize. Since it is a top importance article and not even GA class I am trying to make it a GA article and perhaps further after that. However, I'm in a state now where I could use some help. I need a new pair (several pairs in fact) of eyes to look at the article and the talk page for improving prose, debation of different things and some sourcing. Do you got any possibility to help out? — BR — Esuzu 12:11, 16 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Esuzu (talk • contribs) <!—Template:Unsigned—> <!—Autosigned by SineBot—>

Georgina Parkinson
Why are you adding links to Georgina Parkinson's obituaries at Black Swan? There's no indication that the film is affected by her death. I would encourage you to create a separate article for her, using your citations. Erik (talk) 19:30, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
I will do so when I return from vacation but would like to blaze the trail before leaving for London if you don't mind. — Robert Greer 19:32, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
I can start a stub article for you if you want. It just seems a little forced into that film article. Erik (talk) 19:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
I'd appreciate that! — Robert Greer 19:35, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
I created the stub article. Cheers! — Erik (talk) 20:02, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Royal Navy ship ratings
Hello Robert — could you stop by Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Ships#Re-categorisation to discuss your new categories? My understanding is that only fifth and sixth rates are frigates. Regards, Kablammo (talk) 21:39, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- For my reasons for reverting a load of your edits on this subject, see the same discussion, which I only noticed after the event. Makes sense to keep it all in one place. — Martocticvs (talk) 23:32, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Mea maxima culpa. — Robert Greer 03:00, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Venia tibi. It is a confusing area. I hope this does not prevent you from contributing to ship articles, if they are within your broad range of interests. Best regards, — Kablammo (talk) 15:34, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes they can seem almost simple on the surface (no pun intended), but once you start delving more deeply, an almost never-ending web of complexity unfolds before your eyes! Martocticvs (talk) 18:52, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Ships do interest me, but I am ignorant of them, other than having taken a few ferries in Scandinavian waters. — Robert Greer 15:47, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Those Scandahoovian ferries do look pretty cool. Kablammo (talk) 17:46, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
March
Hello. I am contacting you because you are listed as a participant for WikiProject Norway, and the above-mentioned article is sourced by all Norwegian-language references. Moreover, the references do not appear to support notability; they might be mere trivial references to the subject. Since these sources are all offline, and I do not speak or read Norwegian, I'm hoping whether you can assist me in determining whether the article qualifies for speedy deletion. Many thanks! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 12:53, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
I don't usually get involved in issues of speedy deletion or notability, but Einar Lindboe has a goodly article on the Norwegian Wiki. and a stub on this, the English. The editors of the latter are not the same as those who created Medicinernes Skiklub Svartor, and most of those who worked on the latter appear to be "real" editors. I do not have a bias against offline sources — if anything I'm biased against Internet materials — but a Google search supports the legitimacy of three of the article's four refs. The last (the medical article) is available online, and I've added the link. That still leaves the question of notability: my feeling is that this is no less notable than half of what is on Wikipedia. Then again, many Wikipedians would question the notability of most of what I write about, hence my reluctance to get involved in speedies. I sincerely thank you for asking; you Wiki. admins. have a thankless task, and you in particular seem to be treating it with all seriousness. Thank you again. — Robert Greer 23:50, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
And I thank you for your honest and thoughtful reply. If I could verify whether the subject was discussed with enough prominence in the offline sources, then I would be able to stave off the urge to take this to AfD. But as it seems to be at least recognized by quite a few editors, I'm not really willing to do that (yet) anyway. Thanks again! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 12:45, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome, and if I may be of assistance anytime in the future, do not hesitate to contact me. — Robert Greer 02:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Merging dance lists?
Tags have appeared in List of dance companies, List of modern dance companies, List of contemporary dance companies suggesting a merger, but pointing to the current individual discussion pages. Where is this being discussed? (I'd be in favour of moving everything to the List of dance companies, and can offer to do that if you wish - I've recently been doing some tidying up there...) Mirokado (talk) 03:28, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the lovely job on List of dance companies! I've placed a proposal on the talk pages for List of dance companies, List of modern dance companies and List of contemporary dance companies that a combined discussion be held on the first named and hope this doesn't ruffle any feathers. It certainly won't ruffle mine. All that needs to be done after you've done the heavy lifting is to replace the content of the List of modern dance companies and List of contemporary dance companies with:
#REDIRECT [[List of dance companies]] {{R from merge}}
And to change their talk pages from:
{{WikiProject Dance|category=list}}
to:
{{WikiProject Dance|category=redirect}}
Happy hunting! — Robert Greer 03:44, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, the proposal about discussion looks good and I have added a comment there. Glad you like the table updates! How long should I wait before starting the moves if there are no objections? Mirokado (talk) 04:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
A week or so should be enough (there may very well be no discussion whatever.) — Robert Greer 04:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Frigate categories
Hi Robert, a while ago you created some new categories for Royal Navy frigates. After some discussion I think we agreed that they were a mistake, owing to the confused nature of the difference between 'rates' and 'classes', and how they were implemented during the different periods of the Navy's history. With this in mind, I wonder if you would mind tagging them for deletion under {{db-self}}? They were the categories Category:First-rate Frigates of the Royal Navy, Category:Second-rate Frigates of the Royal Navy, etc, by the way. Best, Benea (talk) 16:55, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

{{WikiProject Ballet}} being placed on pages with {{WikiProject Dance}} template
Hi Robert, I just looked at Talk:Tracy Li and noted you had added {{WikiProject Ballet}} template - there is already {{WikiProject Dance}}template on that page. (The Ballet template is a duplicate of the dance template.) The class and importance assessments are different which brought it to my notice. Paul foord (talk) 15:04, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Dear Paul, there's method to my madness (I hope!) I'd like the two eventually to point to the Dance Portal and Ballet Portal respectively (and perhaps have seperate To Do lists, etc.) In the short run I set up Template:WikiProject Ballet as a copy of Template:WikiProject Dance with Ballet=yes added. It tried instead to set it up as a redirect to the latter but don't nkow how to force the Ballet=yes parameter. I did create two pairs of lazy bones' templates, Template:WP Ballet and Template:WPBallet. as well as Template:WP Dance and Template:WPDance, that redirect to Template:WikiProject Ballet and Template:WikiProject Dance respectively, though I don't use them myself. So rather than place the {{WikiProject Dance|Ballet=yes|nested=yes}} template on a talk page and later have to go back and change it to {{WikiProject Ballet|nested=yes}} I've been using the provisional version of the latter. In the long run what I'd like to do is allow Portal= and ToDo= parameters in a yet to be developed template {{WikiProject Dance2}} to which {{WikiProject Dance}} and {{WikiProject Ballet|}} could then speak as follows;
{{WikiProject Dance2|ToDo=Dance|Portal=Dance}}
and:
{{WikiProject Dance2|ToDo=Ballet|Portal=Ballet|Ballet=yes}}
But I'm not yet expert enought in template programming to do so. The Ballet Portal side of this seems the more important as people are beginning to write there. But the ballet and non-ballet dance communities are as seperate on Wikipedia as in the real world! So pointing to the Dance Portal on what are clearly ballet talk pages is not productive. — Robert Greer 15:40, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
I do not understand your edit of Misty Copeland and have reverted it. — TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:47, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Nora Kimball has indeed been overlooked and not least by me! — Robert Greer 13:16, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Anne Benna Sims was dancing with the company at least from 1979 to 1981 (her name appears in NY Times reviews during those years.) So Kimball may have been the second African-American ABT soloist and not the first; she was first mentioned in the Times review of Netherlands Dance Theatre in 1982 and in reviews of ABT from 1985. — Robert Greer 13:16, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
When I spoke with the ABT, there was no mention of an ABS. NYT archives go back to 1981, so she may not be easy for me to find. Can you source content about her for WP? — TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:28, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I was not sure that Sims was African-American when I wrote earlier this morning but now am and think I have enough to begin a little article on her. — Robert Greer 14:39, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
PS The NY Times archives go all the way back to 1851, but you have to pay for full text prior to 1981. The atricle leads are free and sometimes provide enough for our purposes. — Robert Greer 12:53, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
There still remains the question of whether she was promoted to soloist, but Sims was the first African-American ballerina at ABT. I found one claim that Judith Jamison appeared there earlier, but it was probably as a guest artist. — Robert Greer 12:55, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Prima Ballerina and Prima Ballerina Assoluta vs. Principal Guest Artist
Here in the US a principal guest artist is not necessarily ranked higher than a principal dancer; it may just be a contractual matter.
A guest artist is not technically a full-time member (i.e. employee) of the company and does not necessarily receive benefits such as workmen's comp.
Some listed as principal dancers may in fact be guest artists who for their own or the company's reasons do not want the fact made more widely known.
Typically, of course, they are stars dancing for more than one major company, including possibly their own.
Another is the case of a principal dancer in one company who wants to move to another which does not yet have a line open for a principal or lacks permanent funding for another line.
The dancer might be brought in as a principal guest artist until the line opens up or funding is found (these are not hypothetical examples.) — Robert Greer 12:48, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Advice on getting format consensus?
Care to give me some advice here? Cordially, SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:23, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for asking! I've added a small suggestion but am afraid that the issue is generating more heat than light. I do not know where you got the "Nordenskioeld" spelling from, but it is wrong. See :Nordenskiold. — Petri Krohn (talk) 23:51, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
PS In fact all of your Ö {{foreignchar}}s are wrong. Please revert or correct — Petri Krohn (talk) 23:58, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
PPS To be more precise, the Ö → OE and Ä → AE transliterations may apply to German, but not to the Swedish language. I have checked and corrected your edits from today concerning Swedish language names. — See also Ö#O-Umlaut and Ö#Letter Ö in other languages. — Petri Krohn (talk) 00:28, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
I have had precisely contradictory opinions in this matter previously from two native speakers of Swedish, one insisting upon oe, ae and aa, the other o, a and a. Nordenskiöld is a particularly odd looking name when the diacritic is removed as it is spelled with i where we would now see j. Jag ger mig. — Robert Greer 00:32, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, we started as editors about the same time. I think Amar Ramasar is now notable, as a principal danseur and soloist, and the only such person who is also a person of color. I am a fan of the NYC ballet and, like Ramasar, from the Bronx. There are many possible reliable sources. May I start work an an article for Ramasar? Bearian (talk) 21:08, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Of course, and I am flattered that you ask, but Wikipedia is open to all, and in the case of ballet there are so few of us writing that one more can make a great difference! — Robert Greer 21:44, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
You might also look at Arthur Mitchell and Albert Evans, who are retired principal dancers at NYCB, and Craig Hall, who is a current soloist, all of them men of color (and might want to re-check the current situation with respect to the Personal section of the article you wrote.) — Robert Greer 21:57, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Interesting... did he and Mearns break up? Bearian (talk) 22:06, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
A request
DionysosProteus, Robertgreer, John Thaxter
I'm writing to three of you, selected from the list of members of the WikiProject Theatre
I'm fairly active at Requests for feedback, where brand-new editors often submit their first drafts of an article. We struggle to keep up with the requests, but our advice is usually rather basic - explain how to do references, and why their subject matter isn't notable. Every once in a while, we get someone who wants a quality assessment of an article. Frankly, that isn't something the regular participants tat that forum are equipped to do, plus most assessments, as I understand it, are done by Wikiprojects.
My request is two-fold, first, would one of you undertake an assessment of Charles Deburau (or help identify someone who can do such an assessment)?
Second, my impression is that the new editor user:Beebuk, is doing outstanding work, so I want to make you aware of his contributions, as the Wikiproject is in a far better position to nurture someone who I view as a positive contributor to the project. His current interests are rather specific, as you can see from his contributions, and while I can provide advice about Wikipedia related issues, it would be nice if someone more conversant with the subject matter could provide more insightful comments. I added a few suggestions at Requests for feedback ... Charles Deburau, but my lack of knowledge of the subject matter precludes me from helping beyond a superficial level. — SPhilbrickT 01:04, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for asking, but I write mostly about New York City Ballet and their repertory, particularly their Balanchine, and that keeps me fully occupied. — Robert Greer (talk) 23:14, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, No problem. — SPhilbrickT 00:31, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I wonder if you could help rescue this article from proposed deletion, by finding additional sources? I had to use some blogs, for the best quotes, and I hope we can keep those in, along with the better sources. Bearian (talk)
This is really out of my bailiwick, but I borrowed a few refs. from a related article and deposited them in your sandbox. — Robert Greer 00:07, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, but I already had them and stole them from another place. The same five cites have been used in umpteen articles. LOL. Bearian (talk) 00:13, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
RAD Ballet Technique
Can I ask you to comment on the discussion on Talk:Royal Academy of Dance. I don't understand why this person seems adamant that the RAD article does not belong in the dance technique category. My personal view is that they are placing to narrow a definition on the term dance technique, or maybe it's me that is looking at it wrong. Either way have a read and give your thoughts. Crazy-dancing (talk) 23:56, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
He is a dance photographer who shoots acro and competitive dance and then assumes that he knows more about ballet than you (click on those links and you'll understand what you're dealing with.) It can't be any worse than was the Ondine fracas. — Robert Greer 02:51, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
PS I'll be in London August 2nd to 15th. Other then the Great British Beer Festival do you have any suggestions? (I know you'd rather be rambling through the Cotswolds!) — Robert Greer 02:51, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Suggestions
- Eltham Palace - without doubt my favourite place in the whole of London
- London Eye - obvious suggestions
- London Dungeon - a bizarre suggestions, but my American friends think it fits the grizzly stereotype of British history
- Victoria and Albert Museum - holds the collection from the former British Theatre Museum - Free entry
- Natural History Museum - Free entry
- Science Museum - Free entry
- Madame Tussauds
- Chessington World of Adventures - Outside Central London, but worth it if you're a bit of a thrill seeker
- National Maritime Museum
- Highgate Cemetery - sounds an odd recommendation, but worth it to see the amazing tombs and some of the 'famous residents' such as Karl Marx etc
- Royal Mews
- St Pancras railway station - because if I were visiting New York, I would probably visit Grand Central Station.
- Hamley's - whatever your age, it's a must
Of course, if you're like me and enjoy giving yourself the creeps, you'll do what I once did in London. Get yourself a guidebook about the Jack the Ripper murders, wait until evening and then 'follow his footsteps'. Many of the murder locations are still accessible and it makes for quite a fascinating tour of East London. There are many organised tours as well!
I've also been on a 'pilgrim's' tour to see the homes of Ninette de Valois, Anna Pavlova and others, if that would interest you.
theatre
- Priscilla the Musical, the best show in London and you won't be seeing it on BW any time soon
- Legally Blonde, it's a BW show, but here one of my best friends is playing the lead
- Menier Chocolate Factory, small producing theatre, has created some of the West Ends biggest hits in recent years (including Tony award winning BW transfers)
- I saw their Sweet Charity when I was in London last Xmas. — Robert Greer 19:49, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Love Never Dies, has had some negative press, but there's nothing like seeing some Andrew Lloyd Webber in its native setting here in the West End
- Oliver, a Dickensian classic and one of the best loved musicals amongst Brits, but for some unknown reason has never really gone down well on BW
- This was a must see for me; it's the first musical I ever saw, the North American tour in Cleveland! — Robert Greer 19:49, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- The Railway Children @Waterloo Station, another all time favourite story with Brits, has had very good press write ups
- What else did I see?

- London Coliseum The best dance stage in London will be showing a special show by Carlos Acosta with quest star Zenaida Yanowsky, one of the Royal Ballet's most exquisite principals. Then of course you must see English National Ballet doing Michael Corder's Larry Award winning Cinderella. No they're not the Royal Ballet, but they are a cracking good company and in my personal opinion, far more entertaining and worth double the money of a ticket to the ROH.
- ENB's Cinderella is the best! — Robert Greer 14:40, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Royal Opera House The second best dance stage in London is playing host to the Bolshoi Ballet and opera whilst the Royal Ballet are off on their summer tour. No explanation required as to why this is a must see.
- I got to see Le Corsaire and Don Quixote, the former their loving reconstruction of the original. — Robert Greer 14:40, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Massachusetts institute of technology
Hello Robertgreer, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Massachusetts institute of technology, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: It's not a misspelling but a different capitalisation. More importantly, redirects are only speedy deleted for few specific reasons (see WP:CSD#R) and this isn't one - try redirects of discussion. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Olaf Davis (talk) 12:43, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Regarding your thanks for my removal of the nonsense about only beginners using elastic: you're welcome! My daughter has danced for many years too, and although she has studied acro, jazz, tap, and many other genres over the years, her true love is ballet. She has focused on ballet from the beginning and has been to intensives at SAB, SFB and elsewhere (including RAD, btw). I may not be an expert but I know a thing or two about ballet, and I know nonsense when I see it. BTW, your observation that some professionals wear shoes with only elastics might make an interesting addition to the article. Best Regards, Lambtron (talk) 13:45, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
If your daughter's been to RAD, SFB and SAB intensives you certainly qualify as an expert! The wearing or not wearing of elastics is a small point but is the sort of thing that deserves mention in passing on Wikipedia. It is, alas, just the sort of thing that some ignoramus will challenge on the wrong-minded grounds that it's original research. In other words, if you can't find it with a Google search it must be original research. I don't know which is worse, the boys who vandalize pages or the adults who think they know more than they do. In some ways the former are the lesser of two evils; you just undo their edits and that's that. The latter will engage you in long discussions about the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin. Keep up the good work! — Robert Greer 09:38, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

book Francesco Monacelli - Formularium legale practicum
Dear Robert,
I have four parts of the book from Francesco Monacelli with the title Formularium legale practicum fori ecclisiastici ... I have read about this book on wikipedia. Have you more information for my or somebody who want to buy these books from me? Thanks. With kind regards, Jolanda from Hollanda —Preceding unsigned comment added by Familieboek (talk • contribs) 20:26, 22 September 2010 (UTC)<!—Template:Unsigned—> <!—Autosigned by SineBot—>

userboxes
Hi Robertgreer, why are you adding userboxes to other users' talk pages? Regards, Quarl (talk) 04:13, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
I did not mean to cause offense and am sorry if I did.
It is acceptable to hang barnstars on others user talk pages, and only two other Wikipedians have removed the MAW template (one of whom already displayed it on his user page).
Let me again express my sincere apologies. — Robert Greer 14:15, 7 October 2010 (UTC_
Sylvia Moy etc.
I have reverted you here on the simple grounds that Sylvia Moy is a songwriter and not a song written by herself. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 19:22, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
You created a double redirect at Donald Maughn, think you meant to redirect to Don Fardon, but I could be wrong. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 19:27, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, thank you! — Robert Greer (talk) 19:49, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Just some friendly advice
Please stop following my contributions and altering pages I have edited. Try to resolve the matter first at Talk:André Campra. Thanks. --Folantin (talk) 19:04, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Rødkilde Højskole
Hi Robertgreer. Thanks for your interest in this article. I see you speak Swedish fairly fluently and also get by in the other Scandinavian languages. Good to know you are around. I don't agree with the change in title though. First of all, it's all about Rødkilde Højskole, not about the Teaterskole which is a recent development. In Denmark, everyone still refers to it as Rødkilde Højskole anyway. In fact I did not discover it had recently been renamed until I started to look into it more closely. The other unfortunate thing is that you changed the title just before it was listed as Rødkilde Højskole on yesterday's DYK section of the main page - so of course it got no hits. Perhaps you would be kind enough to restore the old title, leaving the redirects from Teaterskole Rødkilde and Teaterhøjskole Rødkilde. Thanks. - Ipigott (talk) 08:31, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
As for the DYK, I checked under the old name and saw it got over 4k hits, so not too bad anyway. - Ipigott (talk) 11:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Mvh. — Robert Greer 13:16, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Quick work. Thanks - and if you are not too busy, you might have a look at the Carl Nielsen article which I have been trying to improve. The nearest it comes to ballet is the dancing in Maskarade. — Ipigott (talk) 14:55, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I did a little bit with repect to the alternate titles of the symphonies etc. (I've been away from music history since my undergrad days.) — Robert Greer 20:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Template:WikiProject Ballet and Template:WP Ballet and Template:WPBallet redirects
I hope to explain my recent change to Template:WikiProject Ballet (redirecting it to Template:WikiProject Ballet 2) and perhaps to recruit your help!
I would modify Template:WikiProject Dance to accomplish what follows if I knew more about coding Wiki templates — but I don't — and had intended later this evening to leave a note for Paul foord, who has done far more template coding than I have and with whom I discussed the matter some time ago.
The main differences between Template:WikiProject Ballet 2 and Template:WikiProject Dance, from which it is directly derived, are two:
- WikiProject Ballet To-do list rather than WikiProject Dance To-do list
- Ballet Portal rather than Dance Portal
I think the necessary changes (insertions) to Template:WikiProject Dance would go somewhere in the following lines:
- |tf 1={{{Ballet|{{{ballet|}}}}}}
- |TF_1_LINK = Wikipedia:WikiProject Ballet
- |TF_1_NAME = WikiProject Ballet
- |TF_1_NESTED = Ballet
- |TF_1_IMAGE = Ballet Nacional de Cuba pas de deux.jpg
- |TF_1_QUALITY = yes
- |TF_1_IMPORTANCE = yes
- |tf 1 importance={{{Ballet-importance|{{{ballet-importance|}}}}}}
- |TF_1_ASSESSMENT_CAT = ballet articles
- |TF_1_MAIN_CAT = WikiProject Ballet articles
Could one of you code this? I would be eternally thankful, and, should you find yourself in New York, would be glad to buy you a Philly cheese steak sandwich and pint of beer at my neighborhood bar. In the meantime, is it agreeable to redirect Template:WikiProject Ballet back to Template:WikiProject Ballet 2 (and fix whatever double redirects that creates)? The final goal would be to have the former read very simply, {{WikiProject Dance|ballet=yes}}. Whatever parameters, mostly of the class= sort, might be applied on a particular talk page, would then be passed on to Template:WikiProject Dance, and any improvements to it would apply to both projects' articles' talk pages. — Robert Greer 00:19, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- I've added in the Ballet portal. I'll try to have a look at the rest soon. -- WOSlinker (talk) 07:09, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- The todo list is now the Ballet on when you use {{WikiProject Ballet}} as the banner. -- WOSlinker (talk) 18:13, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Dorothy Tutin and P.A.R.A.D.A.
I have just seen your query. I was equally puzzled by the term P.A.R.A.D.A which made its appearance with her very first biographical entry for Who's Who in the Theatre, Twelfth Edition published by PItman in 1957 (before the days of ISBNs). Since it appeared again in the Thirteenth Edition clearly this is not a misprint! So I just transcribed the entry and let it go. Given that it also contains the letters RADA, one must presume that PARADA was some sort of pre-entry for the main event, rather like the 'schools' element of Arts Educational in Chiswick. I hope that's okay! Best wishes,John Thaxter (talk) 11:24, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm puzzled, not having any recollection of having made a query about Dorothy Tutin. Can you point me in the right direction, please? — Robert Greer 13:22, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Just happened to see this. It means Preparatory Academy to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. - Ipigott (talk) 15:05, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for being so cautious and polite! I restored the {{Under construction}} template to it (and will begin work on it today). Thank you again! — Robert Greer 14:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

sorry
when a tag appears and says 4000, and when am actually in the 200 - I dont want it - thanks anyways SatuSuro 02:55, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Sorry - no offence - if people like it - great - I dont - no offence meant - we get nothing for being there (in the 200) - and I would rather my gnome work went the way it has - its a personal issue between me and the edit counter - cheers - hope others like it SatuSuro 03:08, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Mea maxima culpa! I had hoped that you would accept the (correct) MAW400 template that I replaced it with. The original MAW4000 was not my idea, but I will accept the blame for dividing by ten and coming up with MAW400 and ten again for MAW40 — for the Most Active 400 and Most Active 40 respectively. My sincere apologies. — Robert Greer 03:52, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
... no need for the latin - I just have different ideas about what constitutes success and failure in the process of dealing with wikipedia - I have made a couple of really good friends from doing it - and have also met a few people whom I have no time for or WP:AGF for at the best time of day - so that has nothing to do with numbers - its that which cannot be measured SatuSuro 09:25, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Your reversion of my edit to Octet (Martins)
Thanks for your concern regarding my edits to the page. I'm afraid I cannot agree that a disambiguating hatnote should exist on this page. The guidelines are clear and specific on this issue; WP:DLINKS says in part: "There is no need to add disambiguation links to a page whose name already clearly distinguishes itself from the generic term" and WP:NAMB further amplifies this point. The article names Octet (Martins) and Octet (Christensen) cannot be confused as the parenthetical disambiguators refer to the writers' surnames, which are clearly distinct and distinguish the ballets one from the other. As discussed in the above pages, it may be appropriate to add the similarly-named ballets to a "see also" section at the end of the article.
I hope this clarifies the issue and you now agree that the hatnotes need to be removed to comply with Wikipedia's hatnote guidelines. Thank you. --MegaSloth (talk) 23:33, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Class=redirect
Hi. I don't understand why you have tagged a redirect to the cricket project and used class=redirect. This seems unconventional as we generally do not put project tags on redirected articles' talk pages while the class parameter is used to show the article's quality as FA, GA, A, B, C, start, stub. Can you explain your thinking, please? Thanks. — Jack | talk page 14:03, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
The other projects on which I edit do so to be able to find redirects to the pages their project watches without application of "What links here" to every article in the project (and even so the occasional redirect may be missed if a page has been moved carelessly.)
The WikiProject Ballet and Dance and Denmark templates expilicitly support class=redirect, list. disambiguation and category, but if the WikiProject Cricket doesn't care for this approach I'll be happy to revert my edit (and thank you for raising the matter in a truly civilized manner!) — Robert Greer (talk) 14:13, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Robert. It's not so much that we don't care for it as that we've never done it. The only (very minor) impact is that it puts an entry into the NA-importance category but, as that contains some 2,777 entries, I doubt if anyone would be too bothered. No problem. Thanks very much for the prompt reply. Best wishes. ----Jack | talk page 14:18, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
{{User MAW400}}
With thanks for your infobox award — Hi Robertgreer: Thank you for your thoughtful infobox award that you recently placed on my talk page [1] and [2]. I am proud to have moved it to its own space on my special awards page at User:IZAK/awards#400 most active Wikipedians, 2010. Thank you again for caring and for your generosity of spirit! Sincerely, IZAK (talk) 08:23, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Your edit to my talk page: — At [3]. Please do not edit my talk page/user page to add any templates/boxes in the future. If I wanted them there, I would have added them myself. Thank you. ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 15:40, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
A note — Creating a userbox is fine. However, I don't believe spamming it on user pages is okay. Considering the amount of people that reverted [MAW 1] [MAW 2] [MAW 3] [MAW 4] I'd encourage you to not place userboxes on others user pages, even though your edits were probably well-intentioned, Best, Rambo's Revenge (talk) 22:47, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I apologize for any offence I may have given. However, many more users have retained it than have removed it — many, many more [MAW 5] [MAW 6] — some of them repositioning it to their own taste. [MAW 4] It is accepted behavior on Wikipedia to hang barnstars etc. on other users' talk pages. Again, I offer my sincere apology. — Robert Greer 22:55, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I realise giving barnstars is an accepted practice but they nearly always come with a message (or at least an edit summary). The fact that this was placing a userbox with no message or edit summary on users page grabbed my attention. I do realise you had the best of intentions, however. Rambo's Revenge (talk) 23:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you! — Robert Greer 23:01, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Dude wtf — I don't even edit any more. You have a strange definition of "active". Let me guess, it involves looking at the completely meaningless figure that is total edit count and somehow thinking it is any indication of anything. Gurch (talk) 13:49, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Whatever. — Robert Greer 13:57, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Let me know next time please. I appreciate your effort to put me as the top 400 MAW, but please leave me a message on my talk page that it is available so that I can decide whether or not I want to put this in. There are some users like myself who do not want this type of publicity. Chris (talk) 20:42, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Ditto. Nice gesture, but I like having control over the layout of my page. Unsolicited userboxes included. Cheers! Valfontis (talk) 21:38, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
I did not mean to cause offense. If you want to avoid such publicity still more thoroughly, you can have your user name replaced with [placeholder] on the Wikipedians by number of edits page. Users do so by adding themselves to the list at Wikipedians by number of edits/Anonymous (you would be number sixty on the list as of this date.) Again, my sincere apologies. — Robert Greer 16:14, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the userbox. Moved it to my main page, since I don't keep userboxes on my talk page. I had no idea, actually. I figured I was probably in the top 1200 or something. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 01:57, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
It's been over two months since your comment on merging and nobody else has spoken. It should be fair to proceed. Do you want to do this? — Robert Greer 15:21, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
I've never done a merge before so am not familiar with the mechanics. If you've already done one, then please proceed. Otherwise, I'll get to this in the next few days. Ross Fraser (talk) 06:28, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
I was given instructions (after the fact; in other words, after I'd done it wrong) on how to do a cut and paste move of content. It's your turn to make a hash of things! — Robert Greer 05:57, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Links on La valse
Hi Robert, I've removed the links you added to La valse, because they are not directly related to the subject of the article, per the external links guidelines. Also regarding the formatting with the column breaks, it may look good but it sounds horrendous with a screen reader because the column markup breaks up the HTML list. With the column breaks on your external links, I hear "list of 1 items, link, list of 1 items, link, list of 1 items, link ...", whereas without them I would hear "list of 6 items, link, link, link ...". Graham87 14:28, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
There should probably a seperate article La valse (ballet) instead of a mere List of casts of 'La valse', but that's a mid priority. — Robert Greer 14:34, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
