Research
editHello Mr. Wintermeyer! First of all, good luck on your research. A master's thesis is a lot of work under the best of circumstances, and I fear you've picked a topic area likely to be rife with frustration. That being said, your message on the noticeboard left me a bit confused as to how you intend to go about your surveys. I don't think there's any problem at all with asking editors to volunteer for them. I'd be happy to do so. But I'd suggest you make a little more explicit how we do that! Thanks, and again, good luck. Dumuzid (talk) 16:18, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hello Dumuzid. Thank you! Yes, I also noticed that this topic is an awful lot of work with accompanying frustration. At least I can contact my contact person at my university, if I have questions/doubts/etc. The idea of the surveys is to compare the acceptance of community guidelines with active user participation in the creation process with community guidelines that are presented by the platform owner. Ideally, this cross platform comparison will deliver indications for such an effect. Yet, there has not been much research conducted on this topic area. The only way to help with the survey are honestly filled surveys. That enables me to compare the surveys with each other and analyze the impact of user participation in the guideline creation process. So the focus lies on social media, information quality and the guidelines, which describe the information quality standard for a platform. I hope this could clarify what I'm intending to do. If you have further questions, feel free to ask!--Rwinterm (talk) 16:37, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'm still unclear as to where/how to fill out a survey. Probably just me being thick! Dumuzid (talk) 16:43, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- Ahhh, I put the link on my user page. Before I start distributing it I wanted to have clearance on my approach. I edited my user page to make it easier to read. Thank you! --Rwinterm (talk) 16:45, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- I was definitely thick. Survey done. Cheers! Dumuzid (talk) 16:56, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your support, Dumuzid :)!--Rwinterm (talk) 16:58, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Minor Survey Comments
editHi there - I just participated in your survey, and I have a few minor details you might want to tweak (they won't actually change the question). I'll leave the consideration of "what is social media" to you to consider in your dissertation!
Q: “I am consciously implementing the community guidelines for creating content “
- - It's not clear what the difference is between “accurate as possible" and “as far as possible”
Q: “I agree with the community guideliens”
- A) It should be "Predominately so", not “to”
Q: For the “Email-Address for amazon voucher” question, I'd have thought that you need to say (by the question itself) that it is optional, as it's easy to forget by the time you reach the end of a survey.
Obviously feel free to ignore the comments, I just thought it worth pointing out what confused me (particularly that first one). Nosebagbear (talk) 18:04, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, thank you for productive feedback. You're right. I adapted these minor mistakes now. --Rwinterm (talk) 08:14, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Survey
editHello, is there any way we can see preliminary results of the survey? How long do you intend the survey to run for? Thanks, and good luck. I anticipate this work improving Wikipedia. Onetwothreeip (talk) 02:20, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, I can share some information about the results when I'm finished on my user page. The survey ends on the first of March (I will add it on my user page). Thank you for your interest :). --Rwinterm (talk) 07:59, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
- That would definitely be interesting! Then begins the
awfulfun part! Nosebagbear (talk) 08:21, 30 January 2019 (UTC)- Haha, I'm actually looking forward to that part!--Rwinterm (talk) 17:54, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
