Disambiguation link notification for June 4
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bigbury Camp, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tang (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WP:FOUR RFC
There are two WP:RFCs at WP:FOUR. The first is to conflate issues so as to keep people from expressing meaningful opinions. The second, by me, is claimed to be less than neutral by proponents of the first. Please look at the second one, which I think is much better.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 07:32, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool update
Hey Simon Burchell. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:34, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

continueing
Hi, I want to finish my list. did you check my contributions? can I continue? I am not new user I was admin in fa.wiki and wikidata (Reza1615). Now I am solving Interwiki conflicts Yamaha5 (talk) 14:35, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
- I did, and I am sure you are editing in good faith, however I think you should hold off for now - I'm worried that you are effectively decoupling en wiki from fa wiki - the links are being removed and are not being replaced, preventing navigation between the sites. Keep an eye on the admin noticeboard to see what develops. Regards, Simon Burchell (talk) 14:38, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Pánfilo de Narváez
I don't know if you are following the article on Pánfilo de Narvaez, but from an exchange of comments a few weeks ago on the Talk page of the article on Indigenous Peoples of the Americas I thought you might know something about Spanish explorers of the Americas. I just saw an edit to the article on Pánfilo de Narvaez in which the editor changed a category entry from "Explorers of North America" to "Spanish Explorers of North America". I don't know if that was an improvement to the article or not, but I thought you might know.CorinneSD (talk) 15:33, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Corinne, I'm not following this article but I just took a look and the category change seems fine - category:Spanish explorers of North America sits within category:Explorers of North America; he was Spanish, and an explorer of North America, so no problem there... Best regards, Simon Burchell (talk) 18:50, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you. I was just concerned that that edit took him out of the category of Explorers of North America, but I see that it did not.CorinneSD (talk) 15:54, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. Glad I could help. Simon Burchell (talk) 16:08, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Swept through
Apologies if "decimated" didn't work there. My concern was that "swept through" occurred in consecutive sentences. Is there a good way around that? Mark Arsten (talk) 22:14, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- No problem - I had used "decimated" liberally when I wrote the article, but it was pointed out to me that interpretation varies from a lteral one in ten, to a general significant proportion. I'll take a look and see if I can think of an alternative. Thanks for the copyedit. Best regards, Simon Burchell (talk) 22:17, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Suriname
I've just started reading the article on Suriname, and I have come across a phrase I've never seen before. It appears twice in the first paragraph in the section "Etymology". It says "European encounter". Is that an accepted phrase? I had always heard "European contact". I had also never heard the word "encounter" used as an uncountable noun. (Also see my comment on the Talk page regarding another issue in the article.) – CorinneSD (talk) 00:53, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
- In the context it seemed rather clumsy - I suspect someone either didn't have a great grasp of English or found the first near-synonym they could. I've changed it to contact. All the best, Simon Burchell (talk) 15:41, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Una pregunta
- Hola, Simon! ¿Qué piensa usted, si descubrir mi sexo verdadero, me penalizarán? Porque yo quiero seguir aquí en Wikipedia.
I hope you'll soon response to me, because I am always glad when we talk!--M. (talk) 17:10, 16 November
- Primero, no soy el único en el mundo (o en wikipedia en inglés) que habla español, entonces esto no es un secreto. Segundo, no quiero involucrarme en este tipo de asuntos. Solo estoy en wikipedia para trabajar en los artículos que me interesan. Good luck. Simon Burchell (talk) 19:29, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

- Dear Simon, in Tuesday was celebrated International Men's Day. I hope you spent it happy. I also want to apologize; I was a coward for years and when I wanted to come out as a man on Wikipedia, I asked you in a way that someone would think that is your problem. It is even worse I asked in Spanish. I am sorry for that. I hope that we are still friends and that I can ask you for help when I need — I promise next time question will not be stupid!--Miha (talk) 16:49, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
