Blocking

Hi Slambo,

I (Zippokovich) have recently attempted to edit an article (Shotokan) only to be informed that my IP has been blocked. The reason given was that RichardHarrold had been using it. However the computer I use to edit Wikipedia (and do everything) is a personal computer and is used exclusively by me. Furthermore only the users that have ever logged into Wikipedia form my computer are Zippokovich (me) and Whadsisname (my friend). Furthermore the IP address given was 72.14.192.3 however my IP address is 80.177.9.206 and 80.177.9.206 is a UK IP (I’m in Scotland) hosted by “Demon Internet”. 72.14.192.3 is an “EU # Country is really world wide” IP hosted by “The whole IPv4 address space” (according to my IP tools).

Juniata Valley Railroad

Thanks for the "start" rating on Juniata Valley Railroad. Any suggestions on how to improve it / what it needs? (Is there a review that lead to the classification I could look at)? Or is there a better short line article to look at as a model? Thanks, Ruhrfisch 16:27, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

155th Street (IRT Ninth Avenue Line)

I noticed that you added 155th Street (IRT Ninth Avenue Line) to the Trains wiki project. There are several hundred New York City Subway articles, about 99.9% of which are not in this project. I was wondering if there was some principled reason for selecting 155th Street (IRT Ninth Avenue Line), or if you didn't realize that it's merely one of several hundred articles about the NYC subway. Stub Articles

The Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad, Union Railroad (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), Pittsburgh and Ohio Central Railroad, and Pittsburgh, Allegheny and McKees Rocks Railroad articles we rated as "stub" (for obvious reasons, and I'm not complaining). I was wondering what more could be added about them, or if you had a good example of a Class III RR article (I can't root through the whole list, don't have the time). Seattle, Lake Shore, & Eastern

Slambo, I am new to Wiki and have entered some information on the SLS&E, and have much more to add, as it is a pet historical project of mine. The road proposed to run north of where I currently live, and this local area seems to have bits and pieces of historical data about the Lake Shore, which have been fun to find.

I see that the whole Lake Shore page has been cleaned up. It looks nice. I would like to see it move up in its rating but I know not how to do it. Would adding some first person stories of construction help? I have 2 to add. There are a few period pictures online. If I get permission from the owner (I've been in contact with him), could we use them?

In putting Union Station (San Diego) up for the week's selected article on Portal:Trains, I noticed that California Southern Railroad was still a redlink. Nice work on the CSRR. I have some historical info as well that I'll try to add in the near future. You've seen the article All Aboard! 20th Century American Trains; I was wondering is if "rail-related stamps" is a subject as a whole that merits expansion (there doesn't seem to be much in WP now). Slambo, not much I can do about this, the policy winds have changed since it was posted, and the license is linked in the explanatory text. Railroad system maps

I've been tinkering around with creating a system map for Great Northern Railway (US). I created a map at Image:GN System Map.jpg, which I created by using DeLorme Topo USA. The only thing I'm concerned about is whether the copyright terms specified by the DeLorme software are appropriate for use on Wikipedia. I listed the terms from the help file in the description of the image. If you get a chance, could you take a look and tell me whether the license terms look appropriate? If so, I can link this map, and probably upload a couple others I've been working on, like DM&IR and DW&P.

I'm not thrilled that the only option is a Mercator projection (or whatever it's using), since other maps on Wikipedia don't seem to assume the world is perfectly rectangular, but that's another nitpick. --Elkman - (Elkspeak) 04:22, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
