1. ABOUT Smt.SHYLAJA MAHADEVAN

         Dr.Shylaja Mahadevan a bharathanatyam Artiste, Dance teacher, Dance historian, Musicologist, Dancing entutiastic, Choreographer and the Director of Sri kalakendira cultural academy. She have done her research in temple dance forms. As a writer she has written books like Anklet Bells Of Tamil Country, Gramiya salangai oli (the translated version in tamil),Mudras- Indian Dance Hand Gestures. As a dancer she has performed more than 2500 programmes and as a dance teacher she has conducted many free dance camps and workshops to motivate students to learn classical dance forms, apart from her regular dance classes she has made hundreds of students all over the world.
Shylaja Mahadevan has so far composed , choreographed and enacted  about 34 dance dramas(including contempory ,historical and mythological concepts) and for so she became high range book of world record holder. 

AWARDS AND ACHEIVEMENT

                     World Tamil Research Association has addressed her as Natyachariyaya. Apart from that she has own the awards like Kalaichudarmani-state government district award, NatyaRathna, NatyaTaragai, KalaiValarmani, Kalai Chuddaroli, Kalai Kaavalar, Natya Bothaga Chudarolli, NatyaKalaiRatna, Laya Chudar Oli, Lok Kala Sri Puraskar award from Ministry of Culture, Gov.of India, Bharathanatya kalaiulaga sigaram and Sri ratna award.
                  Basically being a classical dancer her interest towards folk arts made her the First lady to achieve Guinness World Record in Oyilaatam and also achieved two times High range book of world record in Oyilaatam.
                  She implemented ABCD (Anybody can dance) and makes anyone dance who have intrest and passion towards dance and for her age is not bar for dancing.She made a 71 year old lady to perform on stage who started learning under her at the age of 69.  
               Her passion and dedication towards dance made her 6 times Highrange book of World record holder and created hundreds of students all over the world to learn the original art form in right way and pass the art to next generation.

At present she is the Tamilnadu Co-ordinator for High range book of world records.
