List of companies of Iceland
editHowdy, S.Örvarr.S - I've been slowly converting all of the "List of companies of XXX" to a more robust format so that they're at least a little more useful. Basically something like this. I'm working my way to List of companies of Iceland and would like to make sure you're okay with the format before I do anything. Frankly, it isn't too far off as it is - you've already got the location and ICB cats in there. You've done a great job creating and maintaining that list, so I wanted to make sure you didn't have any objections. Kuru (talk) 00:41, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

The article Ambassador of Iceland to East Germany has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This is literally nothing but a list of six red-linked names; the obvious parent article East Germany–Iceland relations doesn't even exist, as it was deleted as an implausible redirect itself.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Calton | Talk 03:51, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Tricameralism
editHi. I don't think it's useful to describe the Icelandic parliament before 1991 as tricameral. Most bicameral parliaments have some form of joint sessions and these joint sessions are never regarded as an actual third chamber. Real tricameralism refers to three separate chambers without overlapping membership. --31.209.151.108 (talk) 21:50, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- I think that no-overlapping membership as a requirement is too strict. As a wrote in the article Tricameralism, what you call joint sessions took over many of the functions of the lower and upper chambers in the mid-20th century with its own committee system. The literature that I have come across, all in Icelandic unfortunately, as a student of political science indicates that scholars consider the system to range from a 2.5 chamber system to a 3 chamber system as time progressed in the 20th century. Stefán Örvar Sigmundsson (talk) 09:23, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- I think there is a misunderstanding here. All sources I find about this use the word 'málstofa' which does not refer to a separate chamber but a separate category of parliamentary session. That is also the meaning of this word in other contexts, it refers to meetings. There were two chambers (deild) but these two chambers can combine in three different kinds of parliamentary sessions (málstofa). Like I said, most bicameral legislatures have some form of joint sessions that may have a special role beyond that of each chamber individually. That Althingi operated mostly in a joint session doesn't make it tricameral. Joint committees are even a thing in bicameral legislatures and don't change the nature of the body to a tricameral parliament. --157.157.245.130 (talk) 11:58, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Those two concepts, málstofa and deild, are rather ambiguous and often used somewhat interchangeably. If you search online for neðri málstofa you will find news articles referring to the lower house of the British Parliament as such. The dictionary ordabok.is also defines málstofa to mean house as in lower and upper houses. Sameinað Alþingi goes way beyond a joint session as it was permanent, just like the chambers; i.e. it was not just a meeting which the two chambers called to when there was a special need but a permanent office with its own president (forseti sameinaðs Alþingis). Another thing to consider is that Sameinað Alþingi could pass things on its own whereas a joint session of the US Congress can only do ceremonial things. When joint committees in the US Congress consider a bill, which is not that common, they must refer their changes back to the individual chambers for confirmation whereas the committees of Sameinað Alþingi did not have to do so. What we seem to have here is a chamber in all but name. Stefán Örvar Sigmundsson (talk) 21:18, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Defunct standing committees of the Icelandic parliament indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hveragarðurinn
editHveragarðurinn was mentioned in the article on Hveragerði and will likely never get a separate article on en Wikipaedia. But over to you as I understand your fast action. I will go off and correct someone else's wikilink ChaseKiwi (talk) 23:26, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Category:Ambassadors of Iceland to Georgia (country) indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. ✗plicit 14:08, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

The article Government liability fund has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This article lacks significant coverage from independent and reliable sources to establish its notability. While it describes general mechanisms used by various governments, it does not provide sufficient secondary sources verifying the topic’s standalone importance as defined by Wikipedia’s notability guidelines.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Arijit Kisku (talk) 16:01, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
