Welcome to my talk. I am still relatively new to the community, so please call me out for any wrong doings. I'm open to criticism, but please keep conversation civil.

Paula Barrett
editHi @SingleEukaryote: Welcome to Wikipedia!! I see you posted a notability on the Paula Barrett article. She is definitely notable. It is worth checking the article to see if there has been a notability tag on it before. Google Scholar is also worth a check. If it is a really high h-index above 20-25, then the subject is likely notable. She is on 57. If can't identify it, and can see several articles the subject has written, i.e. 5 or 6 with more than 100 citations, then they are likely to be notable. There are caveats of course, people outwith STEM and so on, may have a slightly lower h-index. If can't identity it there, then look for secondary sources: newspapers, academic articles and so on. If you can see 3 good references from different continents, then they are notable. Hope that helps. scope_creepTalk 16:12, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hello there @Scope creep:, I did not think about h-indexes, thank you very much! She is very notable. My primary concern was the references used in the article and the style it is written in, but I am extremely inexperienced in BLPs. Bringing attention to NPOV and COI in relation to advertising for the FRIENDS programs (which are not free resources) within this article was my goal. Overall, the article references directly from primary sources written or managed by Paula herself. Articles referencing awards are very brief mentions without substantial content to write from. I also wasn't sure about notability due to past debates on its deletion.

Welcome (again)!
editHi there SingleEukaryote! I saw you added your name to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Microbiology participants list so I figured I'd drop by and say hello. Sadly, the microbiology community is a bit sparse here, but there are still a few of us around if you know where to look. As I'm sure you've seen by now, Wikipedia is a big place, and getting started can be daunting. If there's any way I can help as you get used to the place, please let me know. We could certainly use more help with microbiology topics here. More importantly, I hope you're staying well! Your userpage marks you as a current Texan, so I hope you're tolerating the cold alright. Warm wishes, Ajpolino (talk) 02:05, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Ajpolino! Thank you for the welcome, I'm glad to be here. The cold and power outages were quite a wild ride! Though I'm not extremely active in the spring and fall, I have big plans for enhancing microbiology related topics. My specialty is in protistology and characterizing deep topics such as symbioses and multicellular origins. You stay warm too!
