Speedy deletion nomination of T I Wade
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on T I Wade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:04, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Status and Advice
editAs reviewing administrator, I deleted the article for two reasons. First, it made no credible claim to importance. The books are apparently self published, and found in no US library. This does not consitute reasonable importance as an author. If they ever receive reviews providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases, it might be another matter. You ask what's the barrier; that's the standard here, see WP:CREATIVE. Second, the article was promotional in tone, probably copied from promotional literature for the author, & even if the author were notable, would need to be completely rewritten.
I do not want to discourage you, but to urge you to write a proper article if it is possible; if it is not yet possible, please help us by improving our other articles on related topics. DGG ( talk ) 05:12, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- You re-posted a message on my talk page. This suggests that you had not bothered to look for my reply. Please read it now.
- You said: "and where is the barrier in your view: being someone of note and someone not of note? I would love to know where and when I cross that barrier". The answer is very simple: you will have crossed the barrier when someone with no COI writes about you here.
- I think one of the Gs in DGG must stand for "gentle". I cannot image you ever improving other articles - I challenge you to prove me wrong. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:17, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
