Just an additional note - I reverted your contribution to the Wicca article because it read more like an essay than part of an encyclopaedia article. I could see it was written in good faith, but such a large body of text needs a lot more careful writing and backing up with source material. Hi there, I see you re-inserted the text about Wicca and Christianity after I removed it (another editor has since removed it a second time). You were quite right to put it in the first time - that's known as "being bold" and all editors are encouraged to do so! However the corollary is that if another editor disagrees with your entry, they can revert it boldly themselves. What we than get into is called Bold, Revert, Discuss. You boldly added text, I reverted it; you now need to discuss it on the talk page for the article (linked above). Simply continuing to paste your work in when other editors are reverting it will quickly lead to problems! So do, please, come by the Wicca article talk page and let's discuss your ideas!
Just seen your note on my talk page - can I suggest you draft your additions on your user pages first, before trying them in main article space? Even with the addition of sources, the text you drafted was not really encyclopaedic but an opinion piece, and would need a lot of work I suspect. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 16:37, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Wicca. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. - Hello again, you're heading in the right direction by writing on the talk page for the Wicca article, but you just pasted the same text you had added to the article rather than starting a discussion. The talk page is for you to suggest changes to other editors and see what feedback they give; may I suggest posting again on the talk page, introducing yourself and saying why the article is deficient and how you propose to improve it?
- You could add a link to a draft in your own user space - that way you can post your new material where people can see it, but it won't (yet) be part of an article and risk early revision. You may not know how to put drafts into your user space so I'll take the plunge and do it for you in a second. Then I'll write on the Wicca talk page referring to your draft. I hope this isn't too presumptious but learning the ways of Wikipedia is a steep learning curve and I like to give people a hand, especially if it's clear they have come with good intentions! - OK, I have copied your materiual to your user space here. User space is your own to do pretty much as you wish (within limits) so you can draft articles to your heart's content here. I should point out that as it stands this is an essay, not an article. It wouldn't stand up to other editors as it is - I suggest you have a good look at the links I put at the top of this talk page (Introduction, five pillars etc...) as they will give you a head start in editing here.
