Speedy deletion of Yoshihiko Arai

edit

A tag has been placed on Yoshihiko Arai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. skew-t (talk) 02:30, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Dear Friends - Final Fantasy VIII.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Leonardo's [4] interrupted genius

edit

You moved a reference. It might seem all very obvious and appropriate to you to do so, "interrupting the flow" as it did. But No! That reference pertained "most specifically" to the word "revered" (would you believe?) and was inserted, with, (Oh I can't remember, was it twenty?) references that supported the use of the word "revered" when used to describe the most (dare I say) famous all-round genius that ever lived. We also had a dispute that lasted for a fortnight about whether it was really OK to say he was "famous", because this is a "peacock word", (according to the style manual) and, after all, some peasant goat-herder on the steppes of Outer Mongolia might never have even heard of him. I went to the trouble of pointing out that there really are a few individuals (Jesus for example) who really can be spoken of in quite extreme terms when it comes to fame and adulation. Eventually my critic gave up banging his head against the brick wall of my intractability (after I had made a few concessions like inserting the twenty-zillion references) and went away to do something entirely different and really very useful.

Leonardo, you see, is a very touchy subject. The tiniest tweak can provoke an extraordinary onslaught from people who know almost nothing about the subject but have watched the movie and memorised the rather defective wikipedia Manual of Style down to the last horrible semi-colon. Your tiny adjustment might just bring the whole lot crashing about our ears.

Just thought you ought to know. Amandajm (talk) 12:35, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Teggles! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 453 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Yoshihiko Arai - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Hideo Yoshizawa - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Proposed deletion of Yoshihiko Arai

edit

The article Yoshihiko Arai has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Little more than an IMDB entry; sources are similarly sparse.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hey Teggles. I went through some of my old GI issues already and bookmarked the pages containing the review, full page ads, and news stories pertaining to FF VIII. It'll probably be later today (Thursday) or tomorrow before I can scan them, but I can't be certain because I don't have full-time access to a scanner. Until then, cheers. sesuprime 07:57, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I scanned a total of ten pages related to FF VIII from four issues of Game Informer.

From issue #79 (November 1999):
The three editors that reviewed the game are Andy McNamara, Jay Fitzloff and Andrew Reiner. Now you should have all the data you'll need for references. If you need anything else, just let me know. Cheers! sesuprime 03:46, 30 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:04, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Hideo Yoshizawa

edit

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Hideo Yoshizawa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the notability of the subject, contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and give your reasons on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Pburka (talk) 19:43, 12 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Dear Friends - Final Fantasy VIII.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Dear Friends - Final Fantasy VIII.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Ottottrio

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ottottrio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
