More help
(I was writing this at the same time as the other helper);
Hi there. For information on images, see WP:IMAGES.
The simple way to add an image is to put [[image:filename.jpg]]; there are lots more things you can do, for example [[File:Bad Title Example.png|200px|thumb|Hello there]] gives the image shown here. You could edit this page, and check how I did it; experiment on your own page.
I hope this helps, if you need more guidance, please ask again.

Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. {{helpme}}How do you become an administrator? --GandalftheWise : Talk Page 18:50, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- You can apply to become an administrator by visiting Wikipedia:Requests for adminship and following the directions to create a page for yourself; however, it's not recommended to try to request adminship unless you've been around for at least six months to a year and have a few thousand edits under your belt. This shows that a prospective candidate has enough time and experience on the project to be trusted with the extra tools that being an admin provides. Hope this helps, GlassCobra 18:57, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem. If I can give you a little advice, it's generally frowned upon to have most of your edits in the user and user talk spaces; right now, you've got nearly four-fifths of your edits here, including over 150 to your own user page. Since the primary function of Wikipedia is not to improve your userpage or socialize on other peoples' talk pages, but to build an encyclopedia, I'd recommend that you start contributing more in the article space, whether writing articles or fighting vandalism. If you need more help, please check out User:GlassCobra/What You Can Do. Good luck, GlassCobra 19:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

{{help}}Can I see a list of IP's with warnings? Thanks. GandalftheWise : Talk Page 21:41, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Short answer is no. We don't have those kind of reports available automatically.
- There are complicated ways to do it - like, download Wikipedia to your machine, install MySQL, and learn how to do SQL queries, but...well, that's why the short answer is 'no'. Chzz ► 22:18, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

GandalftheWise : Talk Page 19:03, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- If you move your sandbox template to a page in the "Template:" namespace, it'll be usable with the {{...}} syntax So if for example you moved the page to "Template:foobar", then putting {{foobar}} on another article would make your template appear there.
- Your other question is about template "parameters". If you put a template on a user's talk page, the variable
{{BASEPAGENAME}}
will be set to the user's name, so putting the text
Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}}
- in your template will cause it to add "Hello (user's name)" to that page. Tim Pierce (talk) 19:55, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

vandalism
Usually when you give someone the ole 'ima gonna ban you for vandalism' shpeal it helps to actually fix the vandalism. Not only did I beat you to fixing 'my' vandalism but I even had to get notified of your notification, read your notification, scan the article, scan the article history, sit in awe of the fact that it is unreverted, then revert it myself. You should know that removing the vandalism is more important than giving warnings to people that will never read them (with the obvious inferrence that I am not the vandal, so even though I read it it still fell on deaf ears). 198.161.174.194 (talk) 22:12, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Please keep a cool head and mind your temper when you post something. In a way, the warnings do matter as if you vandalize again, the next person to find it will give you a different warning. Also, isn't it true that once in a while, people will forget something? I'm sure it happened this time. Wireless Keyboard (talk) 00:46, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Typing does such a poor job of conveying emotion it always gets mixed up. I wouldn't say it was my temper talking so much as a big eyebrow raised in 'huh?'. Such is the realities of the civil policy I guess. That being said, I still maintain that warnings to drive-by IP vandals aren't gonna be heard by anyone who cares (as clearly the vandals don't), and it takes crime spree levels of idiocy to get an IP blocked. 198.161.174.194 (talk) 16:31, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Gandalf the Wise,
How do you update the archives and sandbox and all of that stuff that you put on the navigating bar. Also, how can you add pictures to user and talk pages, and how do you check how many edits you have.
WaveRunner85 (talk) 16:34, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- To check how many edits you have, click on the button on the top of your screen that says "My Preferences". On that page, there should be a little heading named "Edit Count". This is how many edits you have. You don't update your archive and sandbox. I already fixed your page to archive every 14 days. You can manually archive it, but I would not recommend that for a user of your level. Just tell me if you want me to change the length of time in which it archives. Once archived, your old talk page will be put under that category. As for your sandbox, when the message comes up that says "This page does not exist" just click the button, "Create this page". It has become apparent that, although you have made 1,052 edits to Wikipedia, only 163 (15.49%) have been reverting vandalism. 850 have been made to your User Page or User Talk Page. That is 81.18% of your edits. Please either revert vandalism or edit Wikipedia Articles before continuing to edit to your User and Talk Page. Thank You.

- First of all, there are no restrictions about what percentage you have to have in each namespace, or that you can't edit your page if you don't edit enough on the encyclopedia. Your edits, though you have a lot, were made with Huggle, which is automated, and takes little or no effort to make. You do not know what kind of edits I have made within the article namespace. Most of them have no been reverting vandalism, but helping out with articles, which takes more time and effort. Not to sound rude, and I am still your friend, but you really shouldn't be criticizing others for where there edits are. Oh, and by the way, try to find my secret page; it's hidden somewhere on my userboxes. Thanks. GandalftheWise : Talk Page 21:45, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

- Elaborate on the use of the word "border." As in, how is there a bright orange border around the above "Help Me" template? Dependent on what you're doing, you could either hard code this by using XHTML, or you could use a pre-existing template for notification boxes. To hard code the above, you'd use something like:
