Proposed deletion of All Comers Track Meets
Hey Boss, why did you change the information Dave Grohl and high school? You don't know what you are talking about, ok? I went to high school with him and used to drive him home after school. Can you say the same? He attend Ireton as a freshmen -- I have the yearbook here in front of me to prove it. The wikipedia article is now wrong thanks to you. I'm tired of changing it.
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article All Comers Track Meets, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Madcoverboy (talk) 19:38, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of All Comers Track Meets
I have nominated All Comers Track Meets, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/All Comers Track Meets. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. I agree that BLP tagging is too much when the material is far from controversial. However, you should be aware that it isn't a bot tagging it, but merely converting the tag (see here where the original was added). Fancy joining up with the Athletics WikiProject? File source problem with File:BonnanoHamptoncrop.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:BonnanoHamptoncrop.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:47, 24 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 17:47, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Track and field athletics. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. Link also removed from Mondo. That page is intended only for internal links to WP articles. Hertz1888 (talk) 03:43, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Cleanup
I noticed you or your bot redirected categorization of an article I initiated. It moved Lloyd (Bud) Winter from "Category:Track and field athletics coaches" to "Category:American track and field coaches" which was, I guess, appropriate since the previous category only has other categories now (someone has altered it, perhaps your bot). The problem is, now in its new category, Winter is now not listed alphabetically by his last name W, but by his first L. Since this is an automatically generated page, there is no way to correct it. It appears to be the only such case on the page, but should be corrected by someone with that power, perhaps by you since you caused the change to that category in the first place. Trackinfo (talk) 02:51, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- I added a DEFAULTSORT to cassify with Winter. I hope is okay now --Sisyph (talk) 21:19, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
World record videos
The simplest and most straight forward idea would be to add an extra column on the record list (after "ref") and use a [bare] external link. A video icon might be nice, but then again it stops being so obvious that the link connects to something outside of wikipedia. Clearly, we won't ever have Wikipedia-friendly videos for this topic!
There seems to be a general dislike of external links mid-list, but I believe these types of video links would make a valuable exception. Indeed, without pictures or videos this is quite a dull, unattractive statistical list. I must say, however, that you should be keen to avoid linking to content of dubious legality. Some good links can be found at the IAAF website as well as their ever-improving and accessible Spikes Magazine. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 15:25, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- Also, just looking on your talk page you seem to have been knocked about quite a bit regarding various Wiki rules. I'm glad you've decided to keep editing (you've done a good job on United States Olympic Trials (track and field); an article I pointed out as missing!). In reference to your above "promotional" reprimand – I was also looking to create an article on Mondo at some point. The best defence tends to be good referencing.
- If you do wish to make an article for Mondo (perhaps better named as Mondo (flooring)?) then you must choose your sources wisely – many editors are highly suspicious at even a whiff of a promotional tone, and rightly so. Look for articles in generally trustworthy and non-promotional publications. With Mondo, there are articles about their tracks from Slate, European Athletics, The Review and Speedendurance. A short article focused on their involvement with the Olympics (and track and field in general) is far more likely to stick than one which focuses on the qualities of their track surfaces.
- Some editors are very keen to delete articles which are a bit unfocused and messy – even though Wikipedia:Articles for deletion claims that topics must be judged on notability alone, it has been proven time and time again that diligent referencing, solid writing and a neutral tone can make a largely unimportant article subject to less scrutiny than altogether more important subjects! The article Ken Dabrow has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Broadcaster with no significant coverage in reliable third-party sources. Recipient of non-notable award.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bongomatic 22:51, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Andy Bakjian, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.usatf.org/HallOfFame/TF/showBio.asp?HOFIDs=8. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:20, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
You just earned a timeout.
That rant on my userpage was totally unacceptable; you are therefore blocked for the next 48 hours for incivility. if you ever come onto my talk page or that of any other user with that big a chip on your shoulder, I promise the next block will be longer. Nothing here is ever lost and I do not cave to threats.
As for the article, no, it does not automatically meet notability standards and makes no effort to establish notability. I will, however, create a user subpage with the original content. That way, you can work on it at your leisure when your block lifts.
Next time, try acting with some civility. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:22, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
You should know that I do not respond well to threats and I'm not about to quit over something I can reverse with a couple of keystrokes. If you have a dispute with me, ask nicely and we'll work it out. I had slapped a 48-hour block on you for incivility, but that would truly have been a misuse of my administrative position. Simply put, I blew my stack when I saw your message. As a result, I have therefore unblocked you and restored the article, but please do not hurl any more abuse at me or any other user. You should also know that I recognized the name "Ken Dabrow" and I voted to keep the article. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:49, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Dispute Resolution Process
Hello, Trackinfo. I've noticed that you have taken a step in solving an issue by posting in ANI. Please note that it is required that you advise the other party of your complaint filing so that they are aware of it, and so that they have a chance to respond.
If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 18:19, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
What "ramifications?" Nothing here is ever lost. Mistakes can be made and thankfully can be reversed. Lots of new users ask why I deleted an article and I always respond in kind. Since I do a lot of new page patrolling, it's only natural that my talk page would have a history of inquiries into deletions. If I delete an article in error, I admit the mistake, restore the content and move on. That's what I did with your article and would have done so cheerfully had you not started in with demanding my head. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 18:40, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Stop
Trackinfo, you need to stop. I have been watching the situation since you started the AN/I thread about User:PMDrive1061's deletion of the Cornerstone Christian School article and brief blocking of you. While in my opinion, your decision to start a rant on AN/I was a brash one, statements like this are really going across the line into personal attack territory. PMDrive1061 is a widely-respected editor that is held in high regard by the community in general, and your continued attacks are looking more and more like harassment. If you don't drop this issue I will reinstate your block, as your behavior is becoming more and more disruptive. You may consider this your only warning. Ioeth (talk contribs twinkle friendly) 19:15, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, please do. I let this drop last night and you're still on my case today even after I've corrected my error. Yes, I do act unilaterally, but so do all administrators. My unilateral acts, however, fall within this site's guidelines. Blocking you was in fact a breach of procedure, but I both unblocked you and restored the article after my temper subsided. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 19:20, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your offer at the noticeboard, but I believe I understand your position and I sympathize with it. I've had several articles of my own either speedy deleted or run through Articles for Deletion and no, it isn't any fun and I once lashed out in much the same way you did. I'm glad we were able to resolve this and I'd like to consider this matter closed. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 07:31, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Please explain in Colbert article Talk
Where, explicitly there is a citation giving the information that Colbert's tenure as host has ended. We know it is so, it simply has to be sourced. I also ask that the since the sentence regarding his hosting was made past tense, it also contain the dates he hosted: "was host from x to y", because to a casual, interested reader, the past tense begs the question "when". I am a fellow editor entitled to AGF, and would ask the tags not be removed before the issue is addressed (either in Talk, if I am missing the citation in the main body, or until the citation and date range is added to the text. Recent ANI discussion
Hi Trackinfo. I just wanted to drop by after my recent comment on Drimes talk page. I definitely agree with you that there are wider behavior problems, but I'm hoping we can just take small bites at a time right now to keep things very pointed in the process at ANI. Otherwise, I fear we'd risk derailing the discussion when new/old drama gets kicked up. I think you definitely got the point across that there's plenty of past history elsewhere, so thanks for doing that. Kingofaces43 (talk) 05:31, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- I have a lot of confidence ROPE will see justice work here. My primary concern is the utter lack of interest on the part of the administrators. This ANI is about to fall off the main board and onto the archives, destined to be forgotten as so many are. Just letting it slide does not work here. ROPE only works is somebody is paying attention to his activities, particularly if they give him a standard to achieve or violate. Trackinfo (talk) 06:30, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps, but WP:ROPE can also go your way. The Banner talk 08:46, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Combine progressions
What do you think of this (incomplete at the moment): Masters_women_high_jump_world_record_progression It would make things easier to maintain, more information on one page, only one link per discipline. Weia (talk) 19:26, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- It might be easier to maintain. When I built the original pages per age group, it was easier for both me and I think the reader to stay with focused information. You are not the first to make such a suggestion, others with far less knowledge about the sport pushed the same thing. I argued against it, feeling it diminishes each age group achievement when lumped together onto a multiple page as you have constructed. But hey, I'm just one person, one vote. We go with the flow here. If you think it makes the presentation better, go ahead. Make it better. I also avoided red linked people unless I had plans and information to write an article about them. I think I have found most former Olympians and open world class people, but I don't know the rest of the players, particularly your expertise with European athletes. If you have the information about them and can write articles, or provide me information, we can always make it better by telling more of the story. By the way, one athlete I suspect you might know some information about, Weia Reinboud, might be a good place to start. Maybe it wouldn't be appropriate for you to write about her, but I can if I had "sources" to work with, I can. Point me in the right direction. Trackinfo (talk) 20:11, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- For a reader it is nice to see the same masters athlete in several age classes. - I appreciate your extensive comment at Inquiry 2, but I do urge you to stick to the specifics of each inquiry. We will get to other issues as required, but often the application of Wikipedia policies and guidelines will help curtail excesses, which when curtailed can lead to a less POV article. Focusing on specifics instead of upon a general point-of-view can often result in a solution. See Inquiry 4. -- DRN volunteer Bejnar (talk) 22:10, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Dealing with DRN personal statements
Trackinfo, I really appreciate your interest in the General Motors Streetcar Conspiracy article and support with the related DRN discussion. However, can I urge you to adapt your response to negative personal comments directed at you on the DRN board. For sure, do respond, but I suggest you take the same approach as I am doing now by simply responding along these lines: 'We are here to discuss the subject, not individual contributors or the contributions. Please remove the above reference to myself and refrain from making similar statements in future." What does not help is when we 'take the bait' and respond to the personal allegations made, which actually puts us in breach of the rules as well and probably encourages further similar comments. Does that make sense? PeterEastern (talk) 20:11, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- You are right, I took the bait. When he starts to mention libel, legal issues arise. But I'll try to refrain. Trackinfo (talk) 20:30, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of 40 Point Plan
The article 40 Point Plan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Athletics notability
I was wondering what would you think about changing the position on the IAAF toplist required to satisfy notability for national champions to an easier bar to meet than 60. I think 120 makes sense as that is about equal to how many athletes on average meet the WC/OLYMPICS B standard in a given year. Are there any national champions who were ranked top 120 in the world that would not satisfy WP:GNG (note that print sources do count for satisfying WP:GNG - if anyone states they don't count in an AFD they are wrong. A link to a facebook page that provides evidence that a prominent non routine print article on the subject exists, should suffice at AFD to keep the article. Also can you direct me to a link of the AFDs you are referring to, I'd love to take a look at them). Also if there is ever a track AFD that you think is particularly contentious, can you please notify me on my talk page. MATThematical (talk) 17:33, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Resurrection of Southern California Task Force
After moving from Los Angeles County to Kern County to San Luis Obispo County, I am finally realizing that there is life in California outside of L.A. and San Francisco, where I lived and grew up. Oh, I have also lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Yolo and Sacramento counties, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Riverside County. I am trying to breathe life into the Southern California Task Force, and I hope you will join me. Could you visit our list of participants at the other end of this link and update your description of what you are interested in doing for us, assuming that you still want to be in the mix, that is.

Jarmila is an enormous drug user. This is well known by all who follow track and field. That is why I was comfortable listing Quirot as the best without an Olympic 800 metre gold, since Jarmila is to be largely discounted altogether anyway. This meet came before my interest in the sport, but after several hours work, just wow: talk about a national disgrace. It took me quite a long time to collate all the ins and outs of who-should-have-finish-where. How depressing! SFB 22:35, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for all your hard work on all those USA Outdoor Championships. All part of that huge backlog. We've got the History of the Olympic Trials, my favorite source, to someday translate into wiki. I just found the NCAA historical results like here which contain lots of history. I'm looking to see what OCR might be able to do for that mess. Since USATF has dropped the ball, for historical USA Outdoor (and indoor results--I don't work too hard on indoors usually) we will probably have to go into old newspaper agate. But there are some great stories to be told in there. Trackinfo (talk) 00:51, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- Great find. The Olympic Trials book certainly is a fine piece of work. It's something to aspire to. Good statistical analysis like that always inspires me to write more – the Ibero-American Championships in Athletics had a similarly good treatment. That said, the bonus with newspaper coverage though is that you get a better feel of expectations, the concerns of the time, and what the big stories were – things that can be easily lost with plain statistics.
- I've always focused on international competitions, but I think that coverage is pretty good now so some of our most glaring gaps come at national and NCAA level. Seeing the French Wikipedia editors get ahead of us on the USA champs was certainly an incentive to some friendly competition I've had an ongoing aim to get full coverage of major events of this century, so I'll probably pause at the 2000 USA Championships. The Olympic record lists like the one I did for the 100 m are still on my mental to-do list! SFB 22:09, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Carl Lewis
Hi, thanks for your recent edit on Carl Lewis, which I'm trying to get passed to WP:GA. {{template:T&Fcalc2}} seems broken. It resolves {{T&Fcalc2|28}} to 28 ft 0 in (8.53 m). I'm not precious about the system used but it does need to work, of course. Please could you fix it - either the template or the article? Many thanks FunkyCanute (talk) 10:40, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Sillyfolkboy: This was the work of SFB. I have seen a few complaints about the precision but I'm so appreciative of his hard work to get these templates to exist that I'm reluctant to complain. 1 1/4" is a huge error. Yes I'd like this to be perfect. Apparently there are even errors in the little gold book, so maybe the formula is not yet perfected. Trackinfo (talk) 10:52, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- I saw this on my wathclist. Pings must be signed in the same edit so [2] doesn't work. The second parameter in {{T&Fcalc2}} is currently mandatory and is set to 1.34 if it's omitted, probably for test purposes. {{T&Fcalc2|28|0}}} gives 28 ft 0 in (8.53 m). PrimeHunter (talk) 13:46, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks. FunkyCanute (talk) 08:56, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter and FunkyCanute: That figure was indeed for test purposes. I've removed it now so omitting inches means zero inches (logical!). The discrepancy with the little gold book is frustrating. Some have proved to have been rounded up instead of down, so I'm tempted to allow the discrepancy in those cases. That said, I think there is a difference in with display of longer distances where American standard, namely the distances are reduced to whole inches (search "hammer throw" for result conversions here). I think the template I made still does fractions at that point. Potentially some code tweaks could improve this further, but I'm unsure of what a reasonable cut-off for showing fractions would be. SFB 21:01, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Sillyfolkboy: The cut off would be about 76 feet, or a reasonable distance beyond the current world record in the shot put barring a Beamonesque improvement. That is the longest distance to use fractions of an inch and would be well below any discus mark we would bother to report here (Masters or youth results possibly excepted). Trackinfo (talk) 21:22, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Please be careful about what you say to people. Some remarks, such as your addition to User talk:Jhona43 can easily be misinterpreted. Wikipedia is a supportive environment, where contributors should feel comfortable and safe while editing. Thank you. ~ RobTalk 10:35, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- That was exactly the point. Make positive contributions. Leaving complaining tags about an article being incomplete, two minutes after the article was started is unreasonable and unhelpful. Its actually an interruption, a block on the subsequent edit. In my comment I gave two very specific changes to this behavior that can be taken. 1) If you see a problem, fix it rather than complain about it. 2) Give new articles time to mature. 2 minutes is not reasonable. An editor on new article patrol (my assumption) should know better. Trackinfo (talk) 10:44, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- I don't disagree, but there's a correct and incorrect way to approach an editor with those suggestions. Calling someone a "complainer" and "lazy" is an easy way to ensure the editor doesn't listen to a word you say. That's one of the reasons we have WP:NPA; you'll find that you'll accomplish more and get what you want more often if you tone down the aggression. ~ RobTalk 11:41, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

- We've had this conversation before. I see your edits chasing down one rogue, blocked editor or another all the time. Actually many edits seem to be valid content, appropriate wikiinks mostly. I don't stick my nose into it too often but this is a poorly read article so if I don't do it nobody will. My consideration is not the source of the edit or editor, it is simply a good link to add to describe what happens in the movie. Trackinfo (talk) 02:00, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of District 3-5A (LHSAA)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on District 3-5A (LHSAA) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:13, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
LHSAA districts
Sorry, but Wikipedia does not expect to have articles about every organization that exists. The test for inclusion is called Wikipedia:Notability and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Youtube, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also WP:Notability (summary).
Perhaps the article Louisiana High School Athletic Association could be expanded to include mention of these districts, or possibly the 5A Division may have attracted enough independent comment to be notable in Wikipedia's sense, but these individual districts do not need stand-alone articles. List of Louisiana high school athletic districts
Thanks for creating the List of Louisiana high school athletic districts list. I'm still advocating for individual league (District) information. I'm writing an essay at User:Trackinfo/sandbox/NHSL but obviously there will be opposition. It will be a fight. This is a place to take a stand and use as an example. One league I started still survives, because I have overwhelmed it with sourcing. You can see the progress. I think you can take most of them public at any time. I intend to do the same with:
- User:Trackinfo/District 3-5A (LHSAA)
- User:Trackinfo/District 5-5A (LHSAA)
- User:Trackinfo/District 6-5A (LHSAA)
- User:Trackinfo/District 7-5A (LHSAA)
- User:Trackinfo/District 8-5A (LHSAA)
Your help is welcome since you probably know a lot more about the local subject than I do. Looking at my articles side by side, it looks like the situation has changed since the sources I found. I've never set foot in Louisiana. Trackinfo (talk) 10:37, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Trackinfo, I appreciate you reaching out to me regarding Louisiana athletic districts and advocating for their inclusion. Based on how much Louisiana high school athletics plays a role in national athletics they should be included. The problem is a lack coverage compared to other states with more media outlets and writers. Plus states that have more wikipedia contributors make it easier to include information about that state. Compared to other states, I feel there are less contributors in Louisiana. It is exhausting to devote the time needed to accumulate enough references for others to deem Louisiana articles worthy. I'm glad to help User:Trackinfo/sandbox/NHSL and very appreciative that someone not from the state is willing to help. User:spatms (talk) 2:17, 07 October 2015 (UTC)

This claim had been tagged as uncited since April 2009 (in an article tagged as an advert). Per WP:UNSOURCED, "Any material lacking a reliable source directly supporting it may be removed and should not be restored without an inline citation to a reliable source." I saw long-time unsourced material and removed it. I'm glad you could find a source for the material and restore it. Your snarky edit summary was entirely unwarranted. As one of the maybe five female editors left on Wikipedia, I implore you to trade snark for civility before no one is left around here who is willing to edit at all. - You have made a considerable effort to look at the Patagonia related articles. That had to take some time. It took me 5 seconds to find that source. It took you longer to make the edits to remove that content. If you (one small person) are going to make such a removal of content from the database the entire world can access, try to do it with a little knowledge to back you. In this specific case, that claim had been posted for about 6 years. No other editor chose to remove it in that time. Also no other editor chose to include a source. You could have looked before you leaped. Now that I have pointed you to the sources, you are diligently reading them and correcting the articles. That is what the process of editing is all about. My suggestion, perhaps made sarcastically in the edit notes, is to spend a few seconds to inform yourself BEFORE you do damage to the existing content. Trackinfo (talk) 08:12, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Woman's pole vault progression
Hi Trackinfo! I see you've added the pre-IAAF progression to the Women's vault record progression page. Since you added the info, I thought you'd like to amend the page as per the progression found in the IAAF list (page 324) - there are many additional records there, and the source is RS - which the blog you linked to isn't - as per wikipedia guidelines. [3]
There are a lot of records which weren't on that page you sourced to, something like TWELVE (!) set by Mildred Carl on one day in 1915, for example... And, I'll make the point I did on the high jump page - metric should be the main height followed by imperial, rather than the measurement used at the time of the marks. Canada Jack (talk) 17:30, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe the link that reveals now is different from the exact one I read before. This site, by Becca Gillespie has repeatedly proven to be a valuable source of information. The list I quoted from was attributed to Roger Ruth, another expert in the field, though I cannot find the original list this quoted from. That said, it is an independent list of the IAAF. If IAAF kept a pre-ratification list, great. Here on wikipedia, we are subject to review and other people can find other sources, as you did. Point being, there was nothing at all posted on this subject before yesterday, now we have a structure to work with and improve upon. Eventually we will get a better list. I actually found this information while searching for another non-existent article Women's indoor pole vault world record progression that I have been researching. When I get time to post that, the source of the information I have is directly from the IAAF, but it is in such a convoluted form that I have had to reckon from their information rather than copy and paste an existing formal list. Maybe that information is contained in the document you linked to. If so, It might save me a lot of time and effort. Help on anything on wikipedia is always welcome. You have reinstated a comment that was removed by the IP who posted it. Seems somewhat unnecessary - especially as the IP is disruptive and probably a sock, by their own admission. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:33, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, you were the first to remove that comment [4] before they re-inserted and retracted it. I stuck my nose into this to find a source to back up the original claim. We have one IP screaming that his source is superior to all others, now we have another IP screaming you can't trust all these sources. I don't know this subject well enough to express an opinion of my own, I searched and went with what a source said.[5] That's what I do when I see content being removed. I thought the source was informed on the subject and reliable. We have a discussion brewing and I don't know what the outcome will be or where it will take us. We have inexperienced IPs who do not know WP rules, but we as experienced, registered users shouldn't break the rules. So I'm going to stand back and watch to make sure this is a fair fight. Maybe we will learn something along the way. Trackinfo (talk) 21:50, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- The article content is a different matter. Anyway, the IP has now again removed their own talk page comment, so I hope you won't reinstate it. I've also removed stray bot and IP sigs that were both unnecessary and misleading (suggesting among other things that a message I had added was in fact not from me). Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:04, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
AthAbbr needed
Hi Trackinfo, I created the {{AthAbbr needed}} template so that any pages that need converting can be tagged and followed up on, as there are thousands which were either created before or without the template. I'm sure you know the benefits of using AthAbbr as opposed to bare text. I was wondering (still being relatively new) where the best place to publicise the template would be so that it can be in use and allows me to begin clearing the backlog? I have posted on the WikiProject athletics talk page and on the proposals page, but ideally I would have lots of people aware of this tag and when to use it, so that I (and hopefully others) will work to make sure that pages get the AthAbbr template. DYK for Caitlyn Jenner
On 24 June 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Caitlyn Jenner, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that 1976 Summer Olympics decathlon champion Caitlyn Jenner (pictured) was once a Playgirl magazine cover model? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Caitlyn Jenner. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Caitlyn Jenner), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

4x100m relay qualified in Rio
Hi. You have completed the list of 8 teams added to the 8 already qualified after Nassau Relays 2015. The IAAF published today the list of federations invited to participate, as the following: CHN 75.93, CAN 76.14, ANT 76.15, GBR 76.29, NED 76.85, TUR 77.00, DOM 77.13 and CUB 77.14. BAR 77.20 and ITA 77.26 will replace if necessary unwilling qualified teams. Are you certain of what you have edited? Italy is on the list, but this team is only 10th... Please reply here, thanks.--Enzino (talk) 22:12, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- Something is screwed up in that there are 9 teams listed. I wasn't counting specifically when I made the edit, but there were enough <br> slots apparently for 9. I based the entry on the 2016 list:
- 1. 38.11 Canada,
- 2 38.12 Great Britain & N.I.
- 3 38.21 PR of China (Germany already qualified)
- 4 38.31 A Turkey (France already qualified)
- 5T. 38.44 Cuba
- 5T. 38.44 Netherlands
- 7 38.52 Dominican Republic
- 8 38.58 Italy
so 38.64 Poland is the odd one out of the list But apparently IAAF is adding their best two times together for the list provided. That procedure was not mentioned in the original specification. Now the published list is out and I will correct the list Trackinfo (talk) 23:15, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply as above (since the beginning IAAF added the 2 best times 2015-2016).
- Enzino Please tell us where you found (site link) the information to update of all relays lists.--Yasnodark (talk) 12:24, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- I didn't post links because IAAF made the lists into a download rather than a link. They are all here.Trackinfo (talk) 16:13, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the info, normally South American tournaments only have the 10 main countries - in rare occasions they don't leave out Suriname and the Guyanas. And apparently Panama is on the South American Games too (along with Aruba and the Antilles). Hope to help with the athletics pages, just saw my country win pole vault - only not with the world champion that always backs out in the Olympics. igordebraga ≠ 18:14, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'm just fine tuning the accolades for Braz. While I certainly admire Maurer for sticking it out and continuing to improve at 35, there is just too much competition on the women's side. She is going to have to harness the same home crowd magic Braz did. I'm having to write at a distance, though I was there in person for the Pan Am Games in 2007. Tianna Bartoletta
Greetings. I've just removed all but two necessary references to Ms. Bartoletta's maiden name from her bio article. It's not the custom in any book, article, publication, etc, etc that I'm familiar with to refer to a woman's maiden name according to the time of events in her life, except as "then Jackson" for instance. So her surname is now listed as "Bartoletta" throughout the article. Tapered (talk) 00:43, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo
You seem to have a problem with this article. You left a tag which, as I explain on my user page, effectively vandalizes the article. But you didn't have the courtesy to take your complaint to the talk page. So we have no idea what specifically you are complaining about. While I created it, there have been other editors. There was turmoil during the hours he won the silver medal, had it taken away and reinstated. The page required page protection during that period. You know this, you were involved. The last paragraph still needs some work. Still thats not enough of a problem, and a temporary problem at that, for you to leave a tag that you should be well aware most editors do not know what to do with and are at least fearful of removing. If you have a complaint, at least explain it. Preferably, make the complaint in the talk page and not on the main article where the entire world sees it, discrediting the article and wikipedia. Trackinfo (talk) 09:29, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- I don't have the time nor the inclination to read your personal user page screeds. Adding a maintenance tag to an article is not "vandalism" - while wrongly accusing another editor of "vandalizing the article" is a personal attack. As for you having "no idea what specifically you are complaining about", try reading the maintenance template again and following the bold link to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout which it explicitly suggests. If you are so upset by this, I suggest you take a break from editing, stop taking things so personally, and remember that you don't own that page nor any other page you contribute to on Wikipedia. And stay the fuck off my user pages from this point onwards. Keri (talk) 10:41, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

Invitation to the African Destubathon
Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Re this edit and a similar edit on another article: the onus is on you to add such content. It doesn't work, where you add disputed content and some other editor has to fix it up. If you can't follow guidelines, that's not a problem of mine -- but rather yours.

Not to be rude, but there are still 5 links to disambiguation pages open. But more serious, is there any possibility to split this very heavy article? If you start adding independent sources conform WP:RS this article will be too heavy to handle for most users. The Banner talk 19:41, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
- We have other lengthy results lists like this. I welcome suggestions on how to split the article into a more manageable size. In other cases I tried in the past to reduce such articles into multiple sections, then the sections were attacked at *fD. Trackinfo (talk) 19:53, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
- The AfD-process could be related to the lack of independent sources...

300m hurdles
Hi Trackinfo. Thank you for your recent work. This source: [6] mentioned a lot of Girls' times as low hurdles marks. So I'm a little bit confused. Do you know what means the term "intermediate" hurdles? Is it similiar to "senior" hurdles? Greetings. Montell 74 (talk) 08:57, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Ok i think i "got" it now. In Women's race there is only "low" hurdles, right?.Montell 74 (talk) 09:18, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- In USA, low hurdles 30" (76.2 cm) have been the standard for women's events, so there is no distinction. American high schools switched heights for men in the mid-1980's so the low hurdle marks do not conform with proper hurdle specifications.Trackinfo (talk) 17:57, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Nicole Carroll
Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Nicole Carroll. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. — Smjg (talk) 11:12, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Pro-life
On Cenk Uygar's bio page, I changed "pro-life" to "so-called pro-life." It was reverted with the comment that "we don't editorialize." However, "pro-life" is editorializing from an anti-abortion perspective. "So-called" indicates that that usage is not neutral. Whenever "pro-life" is used in Wikipedia, it should be made clear that it is not a neutral usage. Michtom (talk) 22:36, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- By inserting "so called" you are inserting an opinion into the statement, which is improper. It is clear you disagree with the terminology. I'm sure both sides disagree on the semantics of the terms the opposition uses. "Pro Life" and "Pro Choice" are the commonly understood terms for the two sides. Note that both terms work as wiki links. Wikipedia uses the terms that are reported, that the general public would understand, without expressing any derision toward one side's term or the other's. If you insist on inserting your opinion into wikipedia's voice, you will be reverted, reported and potentially blocked. Trackinfo (talk) 08:15, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Formatting
On Andrea (song):
- Billboard always should be italicized
- Song titles are supposed to be put in quotes, not italicized
- Do not double space after your periods or other punctuation.

Re: Bare URLs
Sorry, but I'm not going to take that time to fill up ALL OF THOSE bare citations. I just plan on alerting anyone who's interested to do it for me. Please assume good faith and do not be aggressive. I really do not appreciate that kind of behavior. Parsley Man (talk) 09:16, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
- You are the one who aggressively posted the tags in order to voice YOUR complaint about the formatting of those sources. In your statement above, you too admit the URL formatting is a waste of time. I don't do it, you are not willing to do it, very few other are willing to do it. So you should stop your public complaining about an issue that only you and a handful of wiki trolls see as a problem. Trackinfo (talk) 18:53, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
- Use reFill or Reflinks. Easy peasy. or at least tag the article with Template:Cleanup bare URLs --Jennica✿ / talk 02:39, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

I came across this patrolling changes to school articles where she was added as a notable alumni. Deferring to your greater experience with track athletes, is she even notable? Do the claims made in the one sentence article even rise to claims of notability? Para olympians are considered notable, but lesser competitions? John from Idegon (talk) 21:09, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- I added the link. She is the 2016 Paralympics gold medalist so clearly notable. I don't know why the Paralympic article still red links her. Trackinfo (talk) 23:13, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Activity...
Hi Trackinfo, Today I've added all 5 new pending records of Carol Lafayette, also in the progression pages, but I am not very active. I did not do the same with a lot of other records. I also had the intention to combine progressions for many disciplines like I did with the high jump, but I've stopped that project. Sorry. WeiaR (talk) 08:10, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Couldn't help but laugh when I saw this. The irony is that not only did I revert the IP for that, but the edit filter also resulted in them being blocked. Home Lander (talk) 14:44, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
