Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Upturn15. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. You seem to have a connection to Upturn Productions. Please understand you must disclose any financial relationships you have regarding your editing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:16, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have an obvious conflict of interest and you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Upturn15. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Upturn15|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared (you should use WP:Edit requests on the articles talk page if you are editing beyond removing vandalism or copyediting though). Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:38, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for diclosing your financial relationship. Please understand that those with Conflict of Interest should use Wikipedia:Articles for creation and not directly create articles so they can be judged for neutrality. For example, the article you just created is not written neutrally and the person might not pass our WP:Notability crtieria. Lastly, do you have a relationship with User:Thedavidcrag as they also created a draft for Ashley mansour? If you do, please confine your edits to one account and one person. Using more than one account is typically against our rules per WP:Sock. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:03, 5 December 2018 (UTC).Reply

Is there anything else I need to do with this article to keep within compliance, as I re-edited the content from draft Ashley Mansour which was formatted more appropriately as per other articles I have reviewed.

Yes. You need to need to add a lot more references. Check out what Wikipedia consideres reliable sources and try and find some that mention her in more than just a passing mention (ie. one line). Right now, only one of your references mention her at all. If you cannot find some references that are not self-produced by her or people paid by her, she likely is not notable per Wikipedia standards. Secondly, you will need to submit your draft for review and an experienced editor will review it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:14, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
I suggest you abandon this page and use WP:AfC. Editors with COIs (conflicts of interest) should avoid creating articles directly. However, in saying that, your draft is not ready to be submitted. While the opening is no longer copied from IMDB, it still starts with basically a resume. Pages on Wikipedia usually start with a name and what they are so notable for that they deserve a Wikipedia page. For example, if she is notable for her books you do not start with her other accomplishments first. And again, please provide sources to show notability. She needs to pass Wikipedia:Notability (people) so please familiarize yourself with this. Before submitting, please review some other pages because whatever you are basing your draft on is not how articles are typically written. Really appreciate you help and guidance on this. Have submitted a page for ER. Again thanks.

  Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Ashley mansour, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.
