I got your message

I saw your message from earlier and much appreciate your kind words. You may be interested in many of the topics in the of Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki/Russian/Biography and Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki/Russian/History lists, since almost all of the listed articles are about WWII, military history, aviation, and Soviet operations. Sadly there is so much from that has yet to be translated to English Wikipedia, ranging from a genocide to the first Uzbek pilot and over 300 other topics.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 20:06, 27 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sieges of Boulogne (1544–46), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 18 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Vietnamese Laotian War 1479

edit

Hi- wanted to thank you and compliment the work you did on the Vietnamese-Laotian War 1479 article. The original author had many factual inaccuracies- most of the article actually. You’ve done very well to edit. I had planned on fixing myself but wanted to share some key resources (it is an esoteric subject- but one that does have some significance.) The best resource is by Li Tana “The Ming Factor and the Emergence of the Viet in the 15th Century” additional research by Sun Laichen traces the history of gunpowder and its use during the conflict. Finally, Geoff Wade has made the Chinese chronicles the Ming Shi Lu searchable online in English. You may have to use Lan Xang and Babbai ( the Chinese name for Lanna). Basically, the conflict was a huge and unexpected loss for the Vietnamese- as evident by Chinese reaction. The Le dynasty in Vietnam began a two fold expansion- taking Champa the moving to Laos. It was significant as the Le were an early “gunpowder empire.” The dai viet Ultimately last due to a guerilla war from Lan Xang, a huge deal of support from Lanna, and Chinese armies maneuvering to invade Vietnam. As a result Vietnamese expansion was halted, Lanna rose in prestige, Lan Xang remained independent and strongly allied to Lanna. The most lasting impact came during French colonialism, when the brief conflict aided in the pretext for claiming Lao territory as part of Indochina. Anyway, good work! Hope some of the research helps if still interested. — Preceding unsigned comment added by StampyElephant (talkcontribs) 18:55, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar Thank You

edit

Dear VFF0347. Thank you so much for the barnstar. It is the first one I get. In spite of your remark about the large volume of my contributions, I still feel like a novice and am often wondering about how some things should really be done. I am into Irish history as you certainly have seen. I looked at "your" articles "Laggan army" and "Battle of Glenmaquin". Good work. You seem to be thorough and methodical. I wondered whether I could discuss some technical aspects with you when I am puzzled. With many thanks and friendly greetings, Johannes Schade (talk) 05:09, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Siege of Gloucester

edit

Thanks for your edits converting references on Siege of Gloucester to sfn format, however there are two references to Herbert, N.M., ed. (1988). I think this has caused the article to be added to Category:Harv and Sfn multiple-target errors. I have been looking at trying to fix this but don't know how - any ideas?— Rod talk 09:44, 11 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Rod! Gee I don't have any idea. I'm a relatively new editor and I have been reviewing all the battles of the English Civil War. If an article is in poor shape, incorrect, or has other issues such a broken links, I try to fix the problem. Did I do something incorrect when I changed the citations? You seem to be a very experienced editor and I would take your suggestions. Please let me know if I need to go back to the Siege of Gloucester and revert my work or make changes. Thanks so much — Virgil VFF0347 (talk) 15:51, 11 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
OK I've yaken another look at Template:Sfn & the section Template:Sfn#More than one work in a year explains to add a & b to the different entries - which I've now done. Might be useful if you get a similar situation in the future. BTW I am not an admin (implied by your edit summary).— Rod talk 15:59, 11 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Rod! I will make a note of the a & b notation for future cases when there are multiple entries for the same author. Sorry that I referred to you as an administrator. You sure have an impressive track record as an editor! Good Day! — Virgil VFF0347 (talk) 16:06, 11 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Tavoy campaign (1787)

edit

Hi. Said article was previously renamed following issues you raised at Talk:Tavoy campaign (1787)#I propose to delete this article, but it appears the year was incorrect. Another user has created an article at Burmese–Siamese War (1788), but should it be renamed to Tavoy campaign (1788) instead? You're invited to comment at Talk:Burmese–Siamese War (1788)#Redundancy. --Paul_012 (talk) 07:07, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
