"VandalProof" bot

I made a legitimate edit[1] to the Maryland article that was reverted by "VandalProof". Assateague Island is the least snowiest place in Maryland and still receives about 9 inches annually, which is more than an "occasional trace". - 68.33.120.32 04:57, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, no problem. I reverted back to your edit. —Whomp [T] [C] 04:59, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

tacoma

I noticed that you removed my edit of the Tacoma page...Just because I removed some content doesn't mean I'm vandalizing the article. It's just editing common-sense that the Tacoma article should not include a long, yet incomplete, list of private schools in the city.--67.183.197.79 05:03, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, reverted. —Whomp [T] [C] 16:38, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

That was a mistake on my part. The page had been deleted four times before, so I put {{db-talk}} on that page, about 30 seconds before {{deletedpage}} was put on Dwee. It is fine the way it is now. —Whomp [T] [C] 16:41, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mew Mew Alliance AfD

Hi Whomp, thanks for your help just now when I couldn't figure out what to do after nominating an article for AfD that had already been nominated (and deleted) once before. - Tapir Terrific 23:29, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest reading up on Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, especially General criteria #4. Since there is no way to know if the first article that was deleted is an exact copy of the current one, I would strongly suggest letting the current AfD discussion run its course. The site seems pretty non-notable anyways. —Whomp [T] [C] 23:36, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Warning

Regarding the warning you gave me - I didn't remove content from YTMND. I removed the unnecessary [citation needed] brackets. For example, consider this line: "A few parody sites of the lawyer's threat (such as Shoe Lawyer Revealed) were posted on the website.[citation needed]". Does it not strike you as absolutely ridiculous that someone decided that a citation was needed when the sentence actually contains an example of the parody it was talking about? What kind of logic is that? Please remove the warn. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.160.192.107 (talkcontribs)

I see where you're coming from, so I restored your edits. Just be sure to use an edit summary so something like that dosen't happen again. —Whomp t/c 17:33, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cyber City article

I was led to believe that no article on this Manga series existed yet on Wikipedia due to the fact that 'Cybercity Oedo', a commonly used spelling for the name of this series, yielded no results at all in the search box, and neither did 'Cybercity Oedo 808'. Could you make the appropriete linking to fix this problem and avoid similar confusion by others in the future? --217.136.187.34 17:30, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. —Whomp t/c 17:33, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

That wasn't vandalism

Linking the aricle to ninja looting would be more appropriate than linking it to YTMND, particularly since the article on ninja looting features a discussion on the cloudsong phenominon.

Thank you, now could you remove the vandalism warning from my ip?
Done. Sorry about that, I havent been on YTMND lately. —Whomp t/c 23:53, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

MFD tags

The wikipedia sandbox is exempt from deletion as it is a test area, used by new users to experiment with editing. It should'nt have that tag on it in the first place; a consencus is not needed. Think outside the box 16:24, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Thing is, the page is actually up for deletion. While I have no opinion on the page, it still needs that tag there. —Whomp t/c 16:27, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Really? Sorry, I just thought someone had put that there. Its happened before and an admin cleared the last one off. I didn't want the page to be deleted by mistake. Think outside the box 16:33, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

On reporting User:Ripple Guy

Hi, I noticed that you reported User:Ripple Guy on WP:AIAV, but I'm a bit confused about this. I went through all of his edits and I can't find anything objectionable, and in fact some of the edits seem to be helpful. Would you be so kind as to tell me what you think Ripple Guy should be blocked for? (I'll grant you that I might have missed something.) -- Deville (Talk) 19:52, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, his username and editing pattern follows that of MascotGuy. The Long term abuse page does also say to block on sight (see the infobox on the right side of the page). Also, Wikipedia talk:Long term abuse/MascotGuy gives a good rundown on quite a few recent accounts which have all been blocked. —Whomp t/c 19:56, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hm, ok. I'm not willing to block an account that has done no damaging edits and in fact has even reversed some vandalism. Not using edit summaries is not cause for a block. I'll comment further on the MascotGuy page-- Deville (Talk) 20:16, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

WBLU-LP

Do we want to put an IP block on this page to keep this person from putting the skeds back on over and over? Nate 21:49, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest waiting till the guy comes back, unless you really want this thing protected right now. A better alternatve may be to ask an admin to do a range block on 128.163.116.XXX, but only if he violates WP:3RR. On a side note, he seems to have an account now, but has only made one edit with it.
So for right now, I would say not just yet. —Whomp t/c 22:00, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Of course, if you object to my opinon, you can file a request for semi-protection at WP:RFP. —Whomp t/c 22:02, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, that's fine, just wanted to have a guidepoint on what to do for now, at some point they finally have to get the point. Nate 22:24, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Thanks for getting that stupid guide off again. I've cleared it off many, many times today... Just hope he stops! - JTB_KY 22:53, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

That schedule is there for HISTORICAL purposes. Until someone writes a detailed history of the programming at WBLU, it should stay. Any of you wanna do that? And while we're at it, WBLU was never either WTVQ or WLKT. Those station were completely unrelated, WTVQ is now 36, and WLKT was a station back in the 80s. WBLU started in 1999. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.163.224.144 (talkcontribs)

He came back with a threat that the guide will come back on my talk page, but under a different IP block than 128.163.116.XXX. I don't know what to do now, I'm feeling overwhelmed by his insistence that it's "station history". Nate 03:20, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Talk about being obsessed. Since he is making threats, I would highly suggest leaving a message at WP:ANI, and hopefully the admins will sort it out. —Whomp t/c 03:24, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to wait a little bit and see what he does, the threat was weak to me and it doesn't seem to warrant admin action yet. If it continues though I will put an RFS-P on it. Nate 03:39, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The historic WBLU schedules

I want to know exactly why everybody seems to object to my putting the 1999-2006 fall primetime schedules of WBLU on the WBLU page. The purpose of the schedules is to show a bit of the history of the programming of the station as it has changed greatly over the years. It was quite an effort compiling this and I do not appreciate it when people remove it. There are people here in Lexington for whom WBLU is a personal matter. We have given it our time, sweat and support. Can the guy from Wisconsin say that?

If somebody can give me a better reason than "Who cares?" or "There is TV guide", I'll listen. Because people here care. The lonely people who watched WBLU because it showed movies nobody else did and who knew they could always call and talk to the staff care. The people who didn't have cable and knew they could count on 62 to deliver something different care.

As for TV guide, show me anywhere that WBLU programming is listed. You won't find it.

Is the history of this station important to me? Damn right it is! so I will continue to write that history as I get new information. I don't mean to step on toes, but I plan on making this page the best page possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.224.177.252 (talkcontribs)

Schedules change for TV stations and networks all the time, whether it's WNBC-TV in New York or the lowest-rent America One affiliate in the middle of Wyoming. It's no different with this station. This project tries to point out the most important changes in a station's history in a quick writing style where you can get the facts, learn what you need to, and move on. Very few people care that Battle Dome aired on this station at 10pm Thursdays from 2000-2001, or are looking to find out where it aired (very few people even remember Battle Dome ever existed, but that's a matter for another time...).
The schedules for this station are redundant with the network schedules that have already been created, and as this station's schedules had no local programming at all (WBLU Movie does not count), they're not needed. They also add unneeded cruft to this article; most articles on Wikipedia are supposed to be under 32kb and no other article covered by WP:TVS contains schedules for TV stations. If you'd like to add a paragraph on current station programming and shows, you're welcome to that, along with any local programming that airs on the station. Otherwise, the schedule grids aren't needed, and on a small station such as this, add weight to an article that more often than not, will be scrolled by very quickly. I'm not trying to be mean at all, I'm just trying to make you understand that adding the prime-time schedules for this station is not needed.
As for your point that WBLU programming isn't listed in TV Guide, of course it isn't, since it went to a national format last year, and though I'm not familar with Lexington, WBLU probably wasn't listed due to having a small coverage area. However, I'm pretty sure that the Lexington Herald-Leader and most electronic TV listings do list it. Every station in the US is listed on WP, but we don't list their schedules because other sites already do that. Thank you for understanding. Nate 05:28, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

No the Herald-Leader did NOT list us, and yes we had MUCH local programming. In fact all of it was "local" from the time CBS stole our UPN affiliation until Equity took over all our programming and production. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.163.224.200 (talkcontribs)

By "us", do you mean to say that you actually work at the station? Also, movies that air on independent stations are usually syndicated, and do not really count as "local" programming.
I still don't see a reason to list these schedules, as Wikipedia is not the TV guide, and TitanTV lists the station's current schedule. As Nate said, some information about the station's current programming as written in prose is okay, as long as it is not filled with unneeded trivia. —Whomp t/c 19:35, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Some of our movies were syndicated. Others were public-domain. (Some purchased at the Wal-Mart down the street, so how more local can you get?) As for TitanTV, that's a pretty schedule. In color and everything. But it is certainly not what is on WBLU today. In the past week every aspect about this station has changed.

Once again, the schedules were never intended to be "What's on WBLU tonight." It was intended to serve as a brief survey of what HAS BEEN on this station in the seven years of its existence. I suppose that a prose article would suffice, but I've always thought that a chart or graph conveys it in a neater manner.

UPN / WB

You are WRONG!!!!!!!! It IS a merge between these two networks!—Preceding unsigned comment added by ERW1980 (talkcontribs)

First of all, take a deep breath. Breathe in and out.
With that taken care of, please check out this CNN article published back in January, with the original announcement of The CW. It states that The WB and UPN are to shut down, and that The CW will be a brand new network. From the article:
Also take a look at the CBS Corporation press release:
This means that in the offical sense, there is no "merge". It's just two networks shutting down, and one opening up shop. —Whomp t/c 03:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

It IS most certainly a merger between the two networks, since it will contain programming from both UPN and WB, and because it will be owned by the parent companies of both. On the other hand, two networks will be shutting down, and a new one beginning. So, friends, stop fighting. CERTS is a breath mint AND a candy mint.

Vandalism of Ed, Edd n Eddy page

I logged in at work today as 75.0.198.250. There has been an edit war going on with this page for days now. Someone is repeatedly posting all kinds of lies and fancruft on the page. Myself and a few others (Wack'd About Wiki, T-Borg, Philo, etc.) have been fighting to keep the page clean. My edits were not vandalism, they were fighting vandalism. Last night, we got 2 users blocked who were vandalizing the page, and it cooled off overnight. Today, apprently they reregistered under new user names, and started up again. They always post exactly the same thing, complete with misspellings. One of them logged on as 68.37.205.18. Take a look at his talk page. Please also take a look down the history page and see what went on last night.

Another admin, Yanksox, is familiar with the problem, and is considering protection of the article. We need help from admins, not warnings. Please do what you can to help us. Thank you. -- 70.135.57.208 01:00, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
