Speedy deletion nomination of Arthur C. Y. Yao
editHello Yaoproject,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Arthur C. Y. Yao for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

- @Yaoproject, JackFromWisconsin, Davey2010, and Bruce1ee: Hi Yaoproject. As far as I can see, this is substantially the same as a recent article published by the St. Mary's University School of Law in 2020, specifically "The St Mary's Law Journal, volume 51". Is this perhaps - as "Yaoproject" may indicate - a collaborative work by students at St. Mary's? There is some mention of a "digital commons" there, but this would appear to be about a freedom given to students to experiment, quite unrelated to a possible Creative Commons license for that journal . --Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 10:53, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I am the owner/editor of the Yaoproject. I am a law professor at St. Mary's University. The article mentioned in the St. Mary's commons is authored by me, and I hold the copyright to that article. This Arthur Yao page has been created under my supervision and edited by my research assistant. There is absolutely no copyright issue at all. We have spent months setting up this page. Nobody should delete this page without my written consent.

- Hi, My only contribution to the article was to add a missing {{Reflist}}, I haven't read the article nor do I have any interest in it, Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:34, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

I had to delete your article, but please don't let that stop you on Wikipedia
editAs an administrator on Wikipedia, I had to delete your Arthur C. Y. Yao article because it was a copyright violation, which means you directly copied material which we don't have permission to publish. Please learn more about copyright violations here. However, I am absolutely certain that Wikipedia needs an article on Arthur C. Y. Yao and I hope that you will create it without copying material. I've pasted a welcome template below, which has links to resources that will help you create a great article. Sincerely,--SouthernNights (talk) 23:14, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- The source of this page is the following article: “Arthur C.Y. Yao (1906-2004): A Pioneer Chinese Professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law,” by Robert H. Hu. St. Mary’s Law Journal, Vol. 51 (2019): 131-171. To read the article, follow the link: https://commons.stmarytx.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1051&context=thestmaryslawjournal. Is there any way for me to get this page back? I will correct all mistakes. Yaoproject (talk) 18:36, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I am the author and copyright owner to the article: “Arthur C.Y. Yao (1906-2004): A Pioneer Chinese Professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law,” by Robert H. Hu. St. Mary’s Law Journal, Vol. 51 (2019): 131-171.
- I am also the creator of the Wikipedia page on Yao, and this page was set up using my article as the source. There is absolutely no copyright violation here. Your unilateral action to delete my Wikipedia page without prior consultation with me wasted weeks of time we spent creating this page. I am very disappointed by your action. Please recover my page soon.
