Whether the taxonomic comments are true is not the point. The comments are unsubstantiated by the heterarchy article as it stands. The reference you cite in Science Daily never even uses the term heterarchy, so it does not substantiate the claim about horizontal genetic transfer being heterarchical.

Good point on article accuracy. See if you like the revisions. I do think it belongs in the 1st paragraph because it immediately demonstrates the interdisciplinary nature of HT/HR analysis. Social And Physical Sciences. I think too much detail would involve going into the formal processes such as Transformation, Transduction, in vitro Gene Therapy, etc....
