Wikipedia:Re-request for adminship

In certain circumstances, the community can petition an administrator to make a re-request for adminship (RRFA) in order to retain access to administrator privileges. It is one of several ways that adminship can be reviewed or removed.

Petition

edit

Any extended-confirmed editor may open a petition for an administrator to make a re-request for adminship if they believe that the administrator has lost the trust of the community. The petition may not be made within twelve months of the administrator's last successful request for adminship, request for bureaucratship, or re-request for adminship. It also may not be made within twelve months of the administrator being elected an administrator or elected to the Arbitration Committee. If a petition fails, another petition for the same administrator may not be opened for six months after the last one was closed.

The editor who opens the petition must notify the administrator via their user talk page using the {{subst:Admin recall notice}} template. They must also post a notice to the administrator's noticeboard using the {{subst:Admin recall notice/AN}} template.

Any extended-confirmed editor may add their signature to a petition, with or without reasoning. Editors may not have their signature on more than five active petitions at any one time. Any editor may comment in a discussion section on the recall petition page. Any signature or comment may be struck based on the same criteria used during requests for adminship.

Petitions are closed after thirty days. If it gains more than twenty-five valid signatures within that period, the administrator is required to make a re-request for adminship. Otherwise, the administrator is not required to make a re-request for adminship.

Re-request for adminship

edit

If a recall petition for a given administrator has passed, a bureaucrat will open a re-request for adminship (RRfA) after the administrator has had reasonable time to request up to a 30-day delay, subject to the discretion of the bureaucrats. Should the administrator not initiate an RRfA nor run in an administrator election within the granted delay period, a bureaucrat may, at their discretion, remove administrative privileges from the admin.

A re-request for adminship follows the same process as the request for adminship process, but with lower thresholds for evaluating the outcome. In an RRfA or administrator election, any administrator who obtains at least 60% support will retain the administrator role. If the administrator receives between 50 and 60% support, the consensus outcome will evaluated by the bureaucrats.
