About GibraltarpediAeditGibraltar aims to be the world's first Wikipedia city. GibraltarpediA aims to cover every single notable place, person, artefact, flora, fauna and other things in Gibraltar in as many languages as possible. GibraltarpediA belongs to and can be contributed to by everyone. It involves people from all around the world collaborating to share their knowledge through text, photos, video and audio. We intend to not only cover the city but also the surrounding land (and sea!) in Spain and Morocco. Wikipedia gives our work a global audience. We use QRpedia codes around the city to give people easy access to content in their own language. QRpediaeditWhat is a QRpedia Code?editGibraltarpediA uses QRpedia codes, a type of bar code a smartphone can read through its camera that takes you to a Wikipedia article in your language. QR codes are extremely useful, as physical signs have no way of displaying the same amount of information and in a potentially huge number of languages. How do I use a QRpedia Code?edit1. Log onto a wireless network available 2. Go to the application on your phone (or tablet device) where you can search for new applications (e.g Marketplace on Android or the App Store on iPhone). 3. Search for and download one of the free QR code readers available. 4. Open the application and point your camera at the QRpedia code. It will scan the QR code (like a barcode in a shop) and take you to the web page. Location of QRpedia codes around the cityedit
MapseditEveryone can add maps and trails using content from Wikipedia, they will be accessible through this site and through QRpedia codes located on fingerpost signs throughout the city. As more information is added to Wikipedia it is automatically added to the maps. Gibraltar related articles on Openstreetmap |
