Transformers: Dark of the Moon

You could also search for "becuase" or another term listed at Commonly misspelled words. Just type it in the search box, click "containing" in the drop-down box that will appear, and fix any typos in articles you can find. Adrian J. Hunter^{(talk•contribs)} 01:11, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Good example of something that can help boost the edit count and get something accomplished. In addition, it is a good example of why one has to pay attention, and look around before hitting save, as you might search for a misspelled word and find it at the article Misspelling.--SPhilbrickT 13:45, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Name of author cited in article is wrong

In the article on Richard of Flanders (also Richardus Forestarius), the author's name in reference to the book "Foster Genealogy" is incorrect. It is given in the article as "Franklin C. Pearce." It should be "Frederick Clifton Pearce." In real life he goes by Jimmy, I believe, as his father did; Jimbo is his "online alias", according to this interview with Brian Lamb.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it has been decided not to do it by default because it makes scrolling harder. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Main Page#Why doesn't the cursor appear in the search box, like with Google? PrimeHunter (talk) 22:22, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Question about notability

I am an author who has self-published a fiction book. I have copyrighted the work, it is currently in the marketplace, etc. Is this something that I can create a Wikipedia page for? I was reading about notability and I was a bit confused as to whether or not my book would qualify (or me as an author). Please advise. Thank you. Hello, and thank you for asking before creating the page. I'm afraid it seems unlikely that you or your book are suitable subjects for a Wikipedia article at present. This is because the subject must meet either the general notability guideline, the notability criteria for authors or the notability criteria for books, and all require the subject to have received substantial coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. This is because Wikipedia covers subjects that are already notable, and may not be used for promoting or raising the profile of anything. If you or your book do receive that sort of coverage an article may be possible, but you should not be the one who writes it: see WP:COI. Finally, I'm sorry to say that your username breaches Wikipedia policy because it is promotional and represents an organisation rather than an individual, so it is very likely to be blocked unless you change it. This is not a reflection on you, and you are encouraged to choose a different one if you wish to continue editing. Best of luck with the book. Karenjc 22:37, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Liane Cartman

I think that Liane_Cartman#Liane_Cartman should go under the categories Category:Fictional_prostitutes and Category:Fictional_pornographic_film_actors becuase they suit her. Could someone put her under those categories please? Thanks! Neptunekh2 (talk) 22:35, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Liane Cartman cannot be placed in a category because she is covered only in a section of an article rather than in a separate article of her own. Only articles, not sections of articles, can be added to categories. Karenjc 22:44, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

It would actually be possible to place the redirect Liane Cartman in categories per Wikipedia:Redirect#Categorizing redirect pages and Wikipedia:Categorizing redirects. However it's rarely done and I don't think it's worth doing here. She sounds like a minor character where prostitution and pornography are minor traits in her past while being promiscuous and a mother are the major traits. We don't appear to have a category for fictional promiscuous people and Category:Fictional mothers was deleted at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 November 20#Category:Fictional parents. I started buying the set of Funk and Wagnalls encyclopedias in a grocery store with each purchase.

They stopped selling them. How can I purchase the last of the set S-Z ??

Help with template

Can someone please edit this template: [1]

It would be possible to include a parameter to specifically exclude the category. But which articles do you not want included in the category? Is it possible that those articles should not display the template in the first place? Intelligentsium 23:07, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

The article that should not have the cat is this one: Atarot Airport, it is not located in Israel, but in the occupied territories, and that cat is already in it. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 23:09, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

There is now a | cat = parameter to {{Israeli Airports}}, which, if set to no, will prevent the category from showing up. Incidentally, {{Israel Airports Authority}} and {{Israeli Airports}} seem to contain largely the same content; could they be merged? Intelligentsium 00:20, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Image problems plus legal threats

Hi

File:Maple Leaf 99999 Gold 2007 ObverseSide.jpg (stored here, not on Commons) , is incorrectly tagged as CC-BY-SA/GFDL. I would have fixed this, but a user left a note on the image page:

"This image is not public domain. It is a copyright image owned by Chard (1964) Limited. We do not license its use. The uploader Sloth monkeyshould be aware. The image was probably sourced from our TaxFreeGold website. It contains a Digimarc watermark which can be read using a plugin for IE. We will take legal action to protect our Intellectual Property Rights."

The license needs to be changed on the image or the image removed, I'm not sure if this guy can claim rights to this image since it's a photo of a coin and no original work is involved. The note was posted in March, but we should still probably do something about the legal threat. I don't know if his Digimark claim is valid, and if we decide he has no claim to the image we should probably find a way to scrub it if possible. • I have warned the user regarding WP:NLT, but since the user has clearly issued a legal threat, I would suggest they should be blocked until it is withdrawn, per usual procedure. I suspect you're probably correct that the image is public domain as it is uncopyrightable, being a straight image of a coin, but I'll leave that up to someone who is more experienced in dealing with image copyrights.   • They probably shouldn't be blocked yet, as copyright complaints should be taken seriously. We should, however, refer the issue to legal AT wikimedia.org and post a notice at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions regarding this.
