Somebody keeps putting back in their non-notable website.

Self-published website full of OR and POV so you're right to delete the link, but consider warning the IP on their talk page not to re-add the link. Template {{uw-spam1}} and its three consecutively numbered fellows would be appropriate (remember to subst them). Following the warning procedure in this way makes it easier to get the spamming IP address blocked if they continue to add inappropriate links (and hopefully saves them from a block if they were unaware that their edits were in breach of policy until the warnings began). Wrongly accused of doctoring websites

Please take note I/we were NOT responsible for ANY of the actions suggested below. The IP addresses with a number of ISPs , Telstra included actually can be held by different users, therefore your "evidence" is unreliable as although I/we may have held it on more than on occasion in the past so could many other users. I had this same problem with pay per click advertising where our Google Adword was clicked many times by bogus individuals in order to a)obtain a commission b)diminish our advertisng budget. I am quite surprised you were not aware of block allocation IP addresses. I removed your unformatted copy of User talk:203.45.212.102 because it was hard to read and people can just click the link there instead. Wikipedia knows about shared IP addresses as shown by the box at the bottom of User talk:203.45.212.102 which says:

"This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address."

If you were contacted in another way than the message at User talk:203.45.212.102 and an orange You have new messages banner linking there when you visited Wikipedia then I don't know who did it or how. The messages are dated and are responses to the edits made from the IP address in the past: Special:Contributions/203.45.212.102. If somebody edits Wikipedia without being logged in to a user account then the used IP address is stored as author of the edit. The block of the IP address was only for 24 hours and has expired so you can just ignore the messages when the edits were made by somebody else who had the IP address at the time. List of Flags for Articles

Hi, I've been on Wikipedia for a while, but I just now remembered the password for my account. I spend a lot of time on Wikipedia, just browsing random articles and clicking around to learn cool new things from Wikipedia. However, there are quite a few articles that I've run across that need clarifying, removal of biased language, removal of advertising language, etc. I know a few of the codes to mark an article, such as the "Advertising| current date" and others, but I was wondering if there was a comprehensive listing of flags that I could use if I did come across such an article. I am not all-knowing, but I would still like to help mark articles as "needing improvement" or "needs clarification" so that someone with the proper knowledge of the subject can come and do a more accurate rewrite than I could. If someone could please edit or reply to this and put a link to the page, I would be very grateful.

Note: I didn't just come here as a first option. I did search quite a bit for "Wikipedia Flags" or "Wikipedia Markups" but I don't know the term that Wikipedia uses for such markups. Even if someone can't locate (or if it doesn't exist) the page with these codes on it, could they possibly reply with a list of different notes that I would use most often? I know a few, but I definitely want to help the Wikipedia articles that I don't know much about become better and more accurate. Thanks!

Hi TR1N3TY. Is the list at Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup what you're looking for? (I believe what you're referring to as "flags" maps to what's known as "templates" in Wikipedia jargon.)

You might also find it useful to install Twinkle, a set of scripts that helps you to tag and watchlist articles requiring cleanup very simply. (There's also some standard advice to give out at this point, to the effect that it's not a good idea to get too template-happy: it's always preferable to make a fix yourself if you know how to do so rather than to tag the article for someone else's attention. But I know there are times when there's no alternative to tagging an article to enlist outside help.) Gonzonoir (talk) 08:58, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

making changes in an entry

1. I've just made necessary changes to the section on Modern architecture, under "History of Architecture", but I don't see how to fill in an editorial summary box, and don't see any prompts to create such a box under "Preferences". 2. Also, I don't see how to insert photos - and, am I able to insert any photo I find (on Google Images, say) or can I only upload photos that are my own property and that I have the rights to?

You can upload them to Wikipedia and use them if you have found them from a free source (or if they are your own property) and have placed necessary information in the file (including license and source). See more at Wikipedia:Uploading images. But about the editorial summary box thing, I'm not sure what you mean. It's not the basic edit summary you mean? Cyprus

I have noticed that you have placed Cyprus in the stastitics of Human Developed Countries under Asia/Oceania. Cyprus was under Near East like Lebanon & Israel and now she is a member of the EU. Definitely the country is not geographically or historically under Asia/Oceania.

Can you be more precise as to which article you're talking about? We don't have a page called Human Developed Countries, and there's no mention of Cyprus in Human development (humanity) or Human Development Index. Rojomoke (talk) 18:02, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

OK, found it in List of countries by Human Development Index.

To answer the point, Cyprus is very definitely closer to Asia than to Europe, and obviously the cultural heritage derives from both Greek and Turkish sources. It's not a straight forward choice to make. Rojomoke (talk) 18:11, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

I am Forrest Silvers, Dean Silvers' son and co-worker, when I put up the Dean Silvers's page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Silvers) everything was fine (I even got cookies), but now at the top it reads "This article needs references that appear in reliable third-party publications..." however, I am a 3rd party reference and have provided numerous 3rd party references, if you want more you can contact "Dean Silvers Associates" or www.Teatown.tv for more references, but can you please get rid of the "This article needs references that appear in reliable third-party publications..."? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fsilvers (talk • contribs) 17:13, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

What it is actually stating is that the topic, Dean Silvers, is not notable according to the article. Where is a reference from a magazine (not a trade journal)? Where is an article from a large newspaper (not a brief mention)? Having a job in the movie industry does not automatically make the person notable. Without notability, the article will be deleted. As for yourself - you are related to the topic, so you are not a reliable third-party reference due to conflict of interest. -- kainaw™ 17:20, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

reference source(s)

I have recently revised and added factual information. The factual information came from 1 the vinyl records themselves 2. sending the information in a complete discography form to the artist the page is about. 3. the artist sending back the discography with corrections. And further correspondence with the artist has also been good for additional information. Not all published articles are accurate including discographies! And now there is the warning that the page may be taken down without references. I might say that the original article was poorly written and had untruths. The article as it stands today is factual. There is no speculation. No this was good or bad, just the facts. Can this article be saved?--Saturdaysunshine (talk) 18:05, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, if you add the references. I know it sounds odd, but correspondence with the artist is not a reliable source - you need to cite reliable published sources to comply with Wikipedia's guidance on citing sources. It looks like the artist is probably notable (see WP:GNG and WP:N#MUSICIAN to confirm this), but until it has at least one reliable source the article is very vulnerable to speedy deletion, per WP:BLP. How to Close Wikipedia Accounts...

Hello! Since I began to use Wikipedia, I have created four Users. The last user was created today -...Aslan's Universe-, and will be used much more frequently like solidly. Thus, the main purpose is to ask for closing the previous usernames, in order to leave them free to others Wikipedians. Since I don't have any kind of problems, in any way with Wikipedia, proceed as you know is the right way. The Usernames I'm asking for closing are:

Wikipedia accounts cannot be closed as such, because it is necessary to attribute all edits to the username that made them, for licensing purposes. If you wish, you can leave a message on each old account's user page, explaining that the account is inactive and directing other users to your new account, although this is not compulsory. Then change each password to a random jumble of letters and numbers and forget it, to prevent any unauthorised use of the username. Editing under more than one account as you have done is not against the rules, although it is not permitted to use multiple accounts to avoid blocks or bans, or to try to influence the outcome of discussions (see WP:SOCK).
