IP showing

Which edit are you referring to? That is, what article did you edit, and where does it show your IP address? RudolfRed (talk) 02:53, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you are concerned about revealing your IP address, then don't answer RudolfRed's questions here. Instead, send an email as instructed at Wikipedia:Requests for oversight, so that a trusted administrator can hide it from the history page.
As for how it happened, this could be very hard to track down. From Help:Logging in, "Occasionally, a user may find him/herself "automatically" logged out between beginning an edit and saving it, or when switching between multiple wiki pages open in multiple windows or tabs. This can be a result of your browser's cookie, cache, or firewall settings, but sometimes, especially during heavy server load, the system can "glitch" and your login information will be lost, resulting in a logout" -- John of Reading (talk) 06:36, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should topic like this be included as a Wikipedia article?

For example, Private Tracker amd usenet are widely known as able to download latest movie. But these tool's publisher and/or their community generally require users to keep silence about these tools. In case there are something that are more well known than afore-mentioned tools, but people are having better secret-keeping ability, so that at best there are just a few blog post/forum thread talk about the theme in the internet, should that thing be written into Wikipedia despite not compiling eith current noticiability guide?C933103 (talk) 04:37, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can't write articles without references. Where would you get the information from? Articles have to be based on published reliable sources, and to pass notability guidelines, we need evidence that the subject has been the topic of significant independent commentary. And if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see your question there (as of this writing). You can reply to that question and answer thread by clicking on the "Edit" link just to the right of the title of the thread. dear wikipedia pls take a note that there are errors in information regarding salman khan actor and arbaaz khan actors date of birth. its is mention here Arbaaz Khan (Indian actor) that he is born in 1964 and in Salman Khan profile it is written that he is born in 1965..this concludes that arbaaz khan is the eldest brother. then why in arbaaz khan's early life section it is ritten that arbaaz is the second son ????

Unjust Deletion without notice of Article Errol Sawyer

My article about Errol Sawyer has been deleted without notice and is now judged in a very subjective way.
Is there a board to whom I can file a complaint about the behavior of these editors?
I always understood that Wikipedia was meant to be an independent source of knowledge: a democratic Encyclopedia on the Internet.
But a democracy does not work if the ones with the biggest mouth can overrule with bad motives the ones that try to do the right thing.
It is very clear that the photographer Errol Sawyer deserves an article in Wiki, considering the fact that he got a grant for a book and his work is present in important collections.
However, these editors say that Errol Sawyer is not good enough and will never be good enough (!!!) and his article it is a promotion piece, which is nonsense and a remark you can make about every article if you have bad intentions etc.
Their behavior shows clearly prejudice based on the fact that the article has been deleted before.
To whom can I address myself? There must be a board/organ in Wikipedia that deals with the ethics and behavior of editors?

Weird display problem

OK folks, I spent some time yesterday afternoon trying to figure out why the "Advertisements" heading previously in this article would not display in Firefox or Chrome, but would in IE. I just changed the heading to "Episodes" and it now displays without a problem. Is the word "Advertisements" on some kind of bad list that causes problems in these browsers? A total guess here – maybe the word "Advertisements" is on some kind of bad list internal to your installations of those browsers? It appears normally for me, if I use my installation of Chrome to view the January 11 version of the article. Maproom (talk) 13:51, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also total guesses but do you have a pop-up or ad-blocker? Might it have inadvertently blocked the word? If not, was the heading in any sort of weird ascii characters rather than regular english ones? Article Submission Question

I am having a terrible time figuring out Wikipedia. I submitted a page for Michigan Deburring Tool but it was rejected. Yet there are pages for Kennametal, Iscar and other manufacturing companies. Why would Michigan Deburring Tool not be published?

The note at the top of Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Michigan_Deburring_Tool explains why it was rejected. You've written the article in too much of a promotional tone. Another major problem is that you have not provided any references at all. See WP:Referencing for beginners for guidance on how to do it. Wikipedia articles are not "accepted" or "rejected" based upon the category of the article. That is, there is no decision that every single manufacturing company must have an article, or that none must. Decisions are not made based on that. Instead, Wikipedia's primary purpose is to gather what information has already been written about things in other places by reliable sources. That is, there needs to be substantial, well-written and in-depth material about a subject that one can find written in reliable sources before something is written about. As an example, Eric Clapton plays the guitar. I also play the guitar. You'll note that people have been writing about Eric Clapton's life and career for a very long time. There's probably more written about him than the average person has the spare time to even read. He's obviously someone that there's a lot of information about out there, so Wikipedia has an article about him. Though I also play the guitar, and thus have something in common with Eric Clapton, there's not a lot written about me in the world. You can prove I exist, but not much else. So, if there's a lot of writing in the world about a manufacturing company, for example General Motors is a manufacturing company, but they are a manufacturing company about which many books, magazine and journal articles, and the like, have been written about. Thus, there is an article about them at Wikipedia. I have no knowledge of the Michigan Deburring Tool company, but the article you wrote does not give any evidence that people have written about it. You've shown that it has writing it published itself, that is there's a link to its own website, but really, I can write a lot about myself and publish a website about myself essentially for free; that doesn't really mean that a Wikipedia article about be should be written. If the Michigan Deburring Tool company is to have an article at Wikipedia, it would need to show beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is enough independent, reliable source material that someone could read from, and then use to write a new article at Wikipedia. You might want to read this page here for some more reading on what is, and is not, a suitable topic for a Wikipedia article based on what is written about the subject. India Being Misrepresented

Indian Disputed territory shown not as a part of India which is internationally accepted. PoK(Pakistani occupied Kashmir) shown as Pakistani territory claimed by India which is the reverse case. Even Aksai Chin is shown as Chinese territory which is a serious offense. If you would like to see something corrected, the best way to do that is 1) find a reliable source which contains the correct information. This is the most important step, as nothing is likely to be changed at Wikipedia unless it is based on reliable sources. 2) Go to the talk page associated with the article where you believe the change needs to be made 3) Suggest the change and explain why, using the information from the reliable source, why the change needs to be made. We have more than 4 million articles and you didn't give a link but it sounds like you describe a map which shows who is currently controlling the area and not who is the "rigthful" owner. Foreign language sources on English Wiki

Can I use a source written in a foreign language for an article in the English Wikipedia? For example, can I use an article written completely in German for a biography written in English, or can I only use that article in the German Wikipedia? Problems with Crescent English School (again)

The neutrality of this paragraph (and before it):

Every School had a word “ENGLISH” in their name. Irrespective of whether teacher speaks in English or not, whether their Director/ Founder/ Promoter knew a word in English or not. There was a flood of English medium School in the village. Poor parents who were the ultimate sufferer, it was they who had to shell their hard earned money in providing education to children. Parents had no option but choose between devil and the deep sea. It is at this time, a noble beginning was made by Mogis Ahmed, a social reformer, who took a pledge to change this system and provide a equal opportunity to children from both haves and haves- not , When the so called English medium School were exorbitantly charging a monthly fees of rupees 800- 900 for a Nursery Class admission, he provided a quality education at rupees 150 Monthly charge only. Suddenly word of mouth started , and every year parents would flock to the school, wait outside the school , a night before to seek admission in his school.

There is no mention of the current class action fraud case against Aspen Dental Management, Inc. filed in federal NY district court, in 2012. Plaintiffs have numbers of allegations important in the dental industry including unlicensed & unlawful practice of dentistry, lack of full disclosures to patients, high-pressure sales techniques, etc.

Article page for Natalie Forbes

I have created a page for the actor Natalie Forbes: Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Natalie_Forbes

However, it has been declined on the basis that it lacks sources for her acting career, even though I have included a link to her entry on the IMDB database (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0285386/) - and even though Wiki pages for her former co-stars (e.g. Sabina Franklyn: Sabina_Franklyn) show no references at all.

Please can you let me know what I need to do to make the article acceptable for submission?

Just add some references to reliable sources to the article to support the content. IMDB is user-generated content, so it's no more a reliable source than Wikipedia, unfortunately. Articles that are biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source in order to be published in Wikipedia. Any other unreferenced articles are at risk of deletion, and the fact that they have not yet been improved or deleted is not an argument for accepting an article with similar problems. - Karenjc 21:11, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
