editJoe Daley
editHi There.
Joe Daley, tenor saxophonist is not living but deceased. My sister andI have compiled as much verifiable info as we could. There are many references to our father, please better review the content. He has been referred to in many instances here on Wiki.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GrafixMix (talk • contribs) 01:37, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- We don't have an article on the Joe Daley that you are referring to. I see that you've tried to create an article though. Since you have a conflict of interest, it's best if you go through the Articles for Creation process to make sure that a neutral article is written about him. You should read WP:COI first though. Chuck D's wikipedia page
editI'm Chuck's wife, Gaye Theresa Johnson. The page is great, except there's a HUGE factual error: we're not Sunni Muslims! We don't practice Islam, though we have a deep respect for it. Wondering if that whole sentence can just be omitted? Thanks!

- Hello! If that´s wrong, it should go. It´s sourced to a book from 2003 [1], "Islam in the African-American Experience", but that book might have been wrong, or things might have changed in 11 years. Do you know of anything more recently published, at least an interview or a personal webpage, where he mentions his religion? For things like religion, Wikipedia often goes with "selfidentified", but it should still come from a reasonably good published source (we shouldn´t take your word on it for a number of good reasons). A personal webpage might be enough. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:56, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Health and Social Care Survey
editPart of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. |
Please can we have the following page removed completely as it is redundant.
Health and Social Care Survey
We were considering changing the name of the HSE (Health Survey for England) and for a period it got referred to as the HSCS (Health and Social Care Survey), but it was never published under that name. Health2014 (talk) 08:43, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- The best solution would seem to be to redirect Health and Social Care Survey to Health Survey for England, which I have just done. That is preferable to deleting altogether if it is conceivable that someone might search by that name. SpinningSpark 09:49, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Status of Telerik page
editHi, Just checking on the review status of the Draft:Telerikpage. It's been in review since May 30th, and I'd like to know if there's an estimated approval time or any feedback so I can revise. You editors have done a great job of reducing the backlog, so I just wanted to see where this page is in the queue.
Thanks, MaximZero (talk) 14:03, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- @MaximZero: I have marked it under review and should have feedback for you within the next 12 hours. --NeilN talk to me 14:46, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I appreciate your swift response. MaximZero (talk) 14:49, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Cutty Sark talk page
editthe Cutty Sark talk page has something weird and technical going on. The section: "Cutty Sark Moored in Melbourne Photograph" seems to prevent anything added after it from being shown. (i.e. new sections are not visible on the talk page, but you can see them in edit mode.) Also, even if you properly sign a section with 4 tildes, you still seem to have your signature added by something called "sinebot". I can't see anything wrong, but it appears to involve the two references at the end of the section.ThoughtIdRetired (talk) 14:43, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- Fixed - one of the

tags was broken, so that the footnote parser "ate" the rest of the page. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:56, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
WI FI AND WPS [ HOW TO FIX]
editHOW CAN I FIX WPS SO I CAN USE WI FI IN MY TV , CAN YOU HELP WITH THIS INFORMATION — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.47.164.174 (talk) 14:44, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 4 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck.--ukexpat (talk) 15:40, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Help Creating New Page
editHi There, I am attempting to create a new page on Wikipedia. It is notable, referenced and all that but I am having a hard time navigating through your steps on how to actually create it. I'm not sure if it's me but there seems to be a lot of different ways to try to figure out how to do something on this website. The amount of links I've had to click is almost overwhelming. I appreciate the service this website provides for sure but I do believe the process for creating a site could be more streamlined.
I attempted to find a general template for a page, the correct font, spacing, etc. and found myself on a templates page for each individual item. Is there a general page template that I can use? I am not savvy at creating websites and I am overall confused by this whole process. I created my own individual sandbox and am familiar with creating pages on SharePoint so I assume its the same where no one else can see if until I publish it. My intention is to create the page (preferably using a template) in my sandbox and then publish from there. Could you please direct me or send me the link of the overall page template?
To be frank, I'm not even sure if this is the appropriate location for this question. The directions are a bit confusing and overwhelming.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance, Erin
Erin Smith2 (talk) 15:20, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- Erin, this is the correct place to ask. It can be a little overwhelming to create an article, so I suggest that you use the Articles for creation process to create a draft and ask for it to be reviewed.--ukexpat (talk) 15:42, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Erin Smith2: The nearest thing we have to a page template is Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout. You might also find Wikipedia:Your first article useful. Please note that your sandbox is visible to everyone, if you really want to work privately you will have to do it outside Wikipedia, in a text editor for instance, but I wouldn't recommend it. A good way to proceed, as it does not involve reading all our labyrinthine guidelines, is to find a similar article to the one you are writing and copy the styles from that. Our most highly thought of articles are listed at Wikipedia:Featured articles and are thus the best ones to copy styles from. SpinningSpark 16:57, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Malformed tab has appeared

A strange new tab has appeared for me at the top of every page. It is immediately to the left of the search box. It has six grey down-triangles, and in the centre the letters "TW", in two font sizes, partly overlapped. If I use Chrome, it replaces the thing that used to let me move pages, and if I click on it it offers me the options "CSD", "PROD", "XFD", "RPP", "Tag", "Last", "Unlink". In Internet Explorer, the thing that lets me move pages is still there, the new malformed thing is between that and the search box, and it has six of the seven options offered in the Chrome version, with "PROD" missing. Is this a new "feature"? Do other users see it?

Real time-chat help
editMy previous question has got me looking at the tops of pages. At the top of this page I see the message "Do you need real time-chat help with your issue?" I guess it's been there for a while and I had never read it. I tried to find what was generating it, so as to move the hyphen, but failed. Maproom (talk) 20:33, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Maproom, that would be because it is located at Wikipedia:Help desk/Header and is transcluded to this page. It can be edited there. Sam Walton (talk) 21:34, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you! I've fixed it. Maproom (talk) 21:37, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Please Create a Gabbie McGee Page
editThere is no wiki page for international jazz singer Gabbie McGee. Please create one! www.gabbiemcgee.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:30A:C0E8:2BC0:545E:83D5:8BFC:685 (talk) 21:17, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Translation in graphics
editThere's an image (File:Map Water scarcity.PNG) that appears to have spanish text in it. It's on the page "Water security". Would it make more sense to address translating it to English on wp:translation or on wp:graphics? 23:20, 12 June 2014 (UTC) Becky Sayles (talk)
- The graphics lab can help you change the annotation but they probably cannot do the translation for you so you will need WP:Translation as well. Note that this file is on Commons and is used by other language Wikipedias so the annotation should not be converted to English. The best solution is to ask Graphics Lab to convert the file to svg format. With this format the annotation can be included in multiple languages within the same file. The language actually required to be rendered is selected by a parameter when the file is transcluded on to a page. SpinningSpark 01:22, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
