Getting #if to work

For [1]. The later revision works fine when the second parameter is supplied. The former revision is supposed to allow it to work without a second parameter (the url should end with the ".php", and the generated anchor should not have the "Number ..."), but it doesn't work at all. What am I doing wrong?

I moved the non-working revision to /sandbox0. Here are test cases:

I think maybe what I am trying to do in impossible. I thought of a hack though: Just default the second parameter to something which isn't an anchor on the destination pages. So there will be a vestigial "#..." muddying up the url, but the link will still just go to the top of the appropriate page as intended. You have encountered the tricky issue at Help:Template#Problems and workarounds. The parameter starting with # is interpreted as if it was at the beginning of a line. You can work around it by encoding that # as &#35;. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:40, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How to appeal against an administrator's actions?

DragonflySixtyseven has read my personal submission in my personal sandbox on HOW the WORD Sanctuality was created, its history to a degree and its meaning in complete. As a consequence of Sanctuality also being a free organisation run by ME alone to help people out of poverty, to help them in court cases and to help children and vulnerable adults suffering or experiencing abuse, trafficking and other human rights violations, the very least I expected was DragonflySixtyseven to REVIEW my submission and offer feedback with a caution to change unsuitable material, or the submission would be deleted or I could risk my page being deleted.

As someone that contributes financially to Wikipedia I have never made a literary contribution and depend on those who work for Wikipedia to show a logical, fair and balanced approach to submissions being reviewed and then give fully and appropriate feed back.

This form of dictatorship is beyond words, that I created the word Sanctuality in 1995, then went on to explain what it means with brief historical reference, omitting that it was in part due to a famous song 'She sells sanctuary' and me mishearing it and hence its creation to prevent myself getting into trouble for citing a band, only to have my whole account DELETED without any form of appeal or second opinion. No opportunity to change my sandbox submission, no guidance, no support, no help. Just deleted account for the meaning of a new word! The meaning is neither offensive nor derisive but as with all new words its entry into society depends upon its overall public usage, were here, Wikipedia judge DragonflySixtyseven, has made his or her ruling even though Wikipedia state that the sandbox is a safe place to enter your submissions on potential content for the page.

I shall no longer be funding Wikipedia in the future as I have lost faith that an organisation can be so misleading and dictatorial to this degree without any recourse. I've no doubt that there's millions or organisations on Wikipedia, demonstrating their history etc, they should all be removed, let's start with McDonald's, Apple and others!

Hey. Sorry for the inconvenience. You'll note that the block message said "a Wikipedia account is to be used by only one person, and is not to be used to represent an organization as a whole. You are all welcome to create individual accounts" -- this was because the sandbox page seemed to imply that the account was being used by the Sanctuality organization as a whole, which is not allowed. Certainly you personally are welcome to edit Wikipedia, either with or without a registered account; this also applies to every other person in Sanctuality (barring, of course, sanctions which may be taken against individuals for inappropriate behavior!). If the account was not being used by Sanctuality as a whole, but only by one individual person, well, I'm sorry, but there was no way for me to know that, because the account name was the organization name.
Furthermore, you'll note that the deletion message said "regrettably, this is not an appropriate use of a userpage. Wikipedia is not a free webhost for your organization". "Regrettably" means "I'm really sorry about this"; "not a free webhost for your organization" means that, in my judgment, what you submitted was basically what would be on Sanctuality's "about us" page on the official Sanctuality website. We can't allow that; if we did, Wikipedia sandboxes would quickly fill up with all kinds of stuff - home pages for organizations, people storing their fiction and blogs, advertising schemes... I've been doing this for a while, I see a lot of stuff. We're very permissive about what you can do in your sandbox, but we're not absolutely totally permissive; there have to be limits somewhere, even if only for the stuff that's legally problematic (and your content was not legally problematic, so don't worry about that!).
I'd also like to point out that the Sanctuality organization may be good and worthy, but as far as I can tell, it does not yet meet our criteria for notability. This is not intended as an insult; I'm sure Sanctuality will eventually achieve notability, but at this point that does not seem to be the case. Have patience, and bear in mind our guidelines on conflict of interest.

Hi there. As User:DragonflySixtyseven mentions above there is no way for him to know that this account in particular wasn't used by the organization, and that the intention wasn't to promote that organization. This is unfortunately a quite common scenario here at Wikipedia and usually results in the page being speedily deleted for being too promotional and the user blocked.
If you want to contribute to Wikipedia and promise to stay away from areas where there is a potential conflict of interest I have no problem unblocking you so that you can apply for a username change. I have added a notice to the user talk page that gives both links to the relevant policies such as the username policy and a few ways to proceed. Regarding the block, it's probably easiest to simply create a new account that doesn't give the impression that the account belongs to an organization than to have your current account renamed - you're free to do so right away. An article, whether about the word itself or the organization whose name it is, however, would require reliable sources that are independent of the subject - according to DragonflySixtyseven such sources don't cover the organization in enough detail (yet) for an article, and coverage for the names of organizations usually is much, much rarer than coverage for the organizations themselves. At a glance I found no reliable sources whatsoever that discussed the term. Thus neither the organization nor the term itself seem to make a good topic for an encyclopedia article at the moment. Hiding a page from my watchlist

I want to show changes to a talk page on my watchlist, but hide changes to the article page. Per WP:HIDEPAGES this is possible using CSS. I followed the instructions given there but they did not work. I wonder if it may have something to do with the fact that, when I click the link that says "go to your skin.css page", the page that actually appears is called "vector.css". You need to remove the colon from the title, that is not an allowed character; css is interpreting it as an attribute/value seperator. These should be replaced with underlines, but as the next character is already an underline just delete it. SpinningSpark 16:10, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure of the right forum for this, so I'm coming to the Help desk. The Cerritos College article has had some edits today from three different brand new accounts. My guess is that it is a class project. I recall there being a WP page for this type of editing, but I do not remember where it is or the best way to handle this kind of group editing. Unless they're talking about an extension that's enabled on other Mediawiki wikis like some Wikias but is not even installed here as far as I know (they have achievement awards for making edits every day, categorizing, etc.). User elaborated on my talk page to say that they were talking about the Wikia badge system. (Anyone unsure what that is can see it in the sidebar here: http://wreckitralph.wikia.com/wiki/User:Purplewowies) Unfortunately, Eloguys, we don't have that sort of thing enabled here. Sometimes, if a user notices you are doing something good, they'll give you some WikiLove or a barnstar, but we don't have the achievements extension active here. In fact, I'm not even entirely sure it's a hard-and-fast extension as it's enabled through a special page that itself seems to be enabled through an extension (and Wikia messes with Mediawiki so much I'm almost doubtful it would work here). Hello--

I am working on editing the mirrored-self misidentification page. I have written the entire page and it is now sitting in my sandbox. I am trying to put in all the references and am clicking on the 'cite' button and using the templates to create named references. I have the reflist in double { brackets encoded at the bottom of the page, but no references appear. Can you help me figure out how to fix this? Thank you.

Malaysia's coat of arms in Malaysia page is incorrect

The Malaysia's coat of arms in Malaysia page missing the two tigers, a crescent, and a 14 pointed stars. I manage to edit it in the 'coat of arms' page but not in Malaysia page. It looks like the Wikipedia page titled Malaysia is just using the shield, without its supporters. The full coat of arms is noted in the article titled Coat of arms of Malaysia. Also, no one is trying to make anyone look bad. --Jayron32 17:57, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am working for Predator Ridge Resort and we have a tag added to the top of our page stating that "This article appears to be written like an advertisement".

I have read through all articles on wikipedia related to this editor tag and have removed all external url's and anything else that could be construed as advertising.

You must be joking! The "It looks like an ad" tag refers to the writing style, not the density of external links. Articles that need fine-tuning

Could someone please fix the article called List_of_lesbian_characters_in_animation because I added characters from the List_of_LGBT_characters_in_animation and the page looks messy. Could some fix that? Also I noticed there is/was an empty article called List_of_transgender_characters_in_literature and I transferred info from the List_of_books_featuring_transgender_persons and now that article doesn't look so good to. Note that when you are copying content from one article to another, you need to provide appropriate indication for copyright purposes: Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
The List_of_lesbian_characters_in_animation table issues has been partially fixed so that it is showing as a table. Can you take care of removing the extra column with "lesbian" or do you need help to fix that as well? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:18, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article was declined on February 5th. The reason given was "subject appears to be a non-notable musical performer or work". It still lacks all references. You should read Wikipedia's policy on notability. Maproom (talk) 22:03, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't resubmit it, and you deleted the feedback template which includes the resubmit button. I've reinserted it, and it stays there until the draft is accepted for publication. As Maproom says, there is no point in resubmitting it without references. TrueCar Page

I recently made some updates to my company’s page (TrueCar) unaware that they would be flagged for neutrality concerns.

The edits that I made were all in regards to data and news updates as it’s been a couple years since the page was updated. I did some investigating and read that the “Talk” section is where I can suggest future edits; can you confirm that? And what can I do about the current header alert?

Yes, you should request changes on the talk page since you have a conflict of interest. I've looked over the edits that you made and while they are not promotional, they did change several figures that were cited to various references. Those figures now disagree with what the references say. In order to change the figures in the article, we should also update the references. history of user page

I guess it is. But my impression is that page histories only get deleted if they contain something seriously bad, such as copyright violations or libellous content. Yours is entirely innocuous — what appears to be a CV/resumé, and a lot of what appears to be stylesheet. Maproom (talk) 22:14, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's user talk pages that are not generally deleted. Not user pages.

Zak Bucia

  Are you by any chance referring to a photo or text shown to the right of a Google search? Google's Knowledge Graph uses a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong.
