@Parwinder singh brar: Did you have a specific question for help? Please note, that Wikipedia is no venue for self-promotion. See Wikipedia:Autobiography and WP:PROMO. Autobiographies like User:Parwinder singh brar are strongly discouraged. I left you a message with additional , hopefully helpful, links on your user talkpage. How can I link my article to one in French Wikipedia?

edit

I am editing an article on Paris in World War II and I would like to link it to the comparable article in the French Wikipedia. How do I do that? Many thanks.SiefkinDR (talk) 11:44, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@SiefkinDR: Click on the "Add links" button on the "Languages" toolbar and follow the instructions. The Average Wikipedian (talk) 12:19, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, that worked! SiefkinDR (talk) 13:17, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Inserting a Picture

edit

I have uploaded this picture

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ping_Portrait.jpg

and i want to insert it into this page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping_He_(fashion_designer)

Can you tell me how i can do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Angusjosephwilson (talkcontribs) 12:09, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Angusjosephwilson: You uploaded commons:File:Ping Portrait.jpg to Wikimedia Commons but the English Wikipedia already has another file with the same name File:Ping Portrait.jpg. That makes it impossible to display a commons file with the name. You have to upload it with another name but I see you discovered that while I was writing. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:28, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Angusjosephwilson - You seem to have worked out how to add it by yourself, but I have moved it into the infobox, where it should be.
In future, could you please sign your posts on all talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp - Arjayay (talk) 12:32, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Antiques Wikipedia is infected by MacKeeper malware

edit

Your Antique Wikipedia webpage has MacKeeper malware in it and it crashes other websites. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.174.222 (talk) 14:20, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antique? I don't find a problem. What makes you think there is malware? PrimeHunter (talk) 14:52, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • (edit conflict) You are going to have to be a little bit more specific regarding what page you are talking about and what exact problem you are experiencing. Do you mean the Antique page? I looked, I couldn't find anything suspicious on it. Perhaps you are talking about the MacKeeper page? That doesn't have malware on it. It is describing a program and it has clear indications of potential problems with it. Please provide more information so we can help you with your request. --Stabila711 (talk) 14:55, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There are several malware plugins that get installed into web browsers through various means which OP might have picked up somewhere along the way. The plugins work by putting links in on various words and phrases of web pages that don't normally have those links, e.g. a Wikipedia entry. Then when the user hovers over or clicks on the link, they are served an advertisement or sent to another page. I have a feeling that this is what has happened with the OP. Could this person actually be looking at a mirror site?— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:50, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning,

I was tasked with writing a short bio for Gerry Wright (biochemist) - I'm Dr. Wright's communications coordinator - and I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the following caption from the top of the page: "This article is an autobiography or has been extensively edited by the subject or by someone connected to the subject. It may need editing to conform to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. There may be relevant discussion on the talk page. (August 2015)". I understand it's not as simple as just "removing" it from the page, but any help on how to eliminate it will be really appreciated.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by McMasteriidr (talkcontribs) 15:44, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. Well the page was written by a "Gerard D.Wright", which to me appears to be Dr. Wright. Is that wrong, @McMasteriidr:? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:50, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also McMasteriidr, because you are a paid editor, you are required by Wikipedia's Terms of Use to disclose the same, preferably on your user page.--ukexpat (talk) 15:52, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And you should read WP:COI, McMasteriidr, and understand that Wikipedia has very little interest in what a subject (or his associates or employers) want to say about him, and requires an article to be based almost exclusively on what unconnected people have said about him. Those references in Gerry Wright (biochemist) which are not from Wright himself or his institution are mostly clearly written from interviews or press releases, and so are not independent. --ColinFine (talk) 16:16, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template editing help

edit

Hi. Anyone willing to help me out with {{Vidhan Sabha summary (collapsed)}} and the associated {{Summary of Vidhan Sabha elections (Nov 2010 - May 2015)}}. I wanted to create a collapsable template (since the full template is very large), but I can't get it sortable or inner borders, colours to work. --Soman (talk) 16:40, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Soman since you didn't get an answer maybe someone at WP:VPT would know what to do.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:19, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removing unintended edit from article's history

Where do I go to request than an unintended edit, containing personal information accidentally pasted from my clipboard, be removed from an article's history? Loraof (talk) 18:00, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Auto-archiving

edit

What is the best or easiest way for me to setup auto-archiving on my talk page? I know there are a lot of different bots out there. Is there a good one that someone can recommend? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:55, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't use a bot but there are a couple listed at Help:Archiving a talk page. Dismas|(talk) 23:08, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Zackmann08: MiszaBot, I think. Edit Bbb23's talk page [1] to see a sample setup. --NeilN talk to me 23:09, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Dismas and NeilN: Thank you very much! Really appreciate the assistance. NeilN, I almost just posted on your talk page to ask.   --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:20, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
