Mentoring

How to I make a redesign of the main page in the draft space?

Search question

Is there an easy way to search for articles in a specific field that have certain tags? For example, if I wanted to search for educators that have the notability tag how would I do that? Sandals1 (talk) 04:29, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, but it's not really what I'm looking for. Isn't there a program or template or something that allows me to search for articles with certain characteristics? Other examples would be to find biographies that have been tagged for a conflict of interest or sports articles that have been marked as needing more sources.Sandals1 (talk) 16:20, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

@Sandals1: incategory is your friend, see Help:Searching. This being said, I do not manage to get it to work for multiple cats - I would have said that for your second example, incategory:"Wikipedia articles with possible conflicts of interest" incategory:"Biography articles of living people" would do the trick but the result page is empty, as well as the help page's example of incategory:"Suspension bridges in the United States" incategory:Bridges_in_New_York_City, so either something is broken or the doc is out-of-date. Help changing an article title

Hi,

I'd really appreciate a push in the right direction - I've looked at the instructions on how to change an article title but I'm not autoconfirmed. Is there any way to change a title without first being autoconfirmed?

The issue is minor but has legal ramifications. The title of this article [[1]]ShowMax is ShowMax. I'm looking to change it to Showmax (without the camel capital). The company no-longer uses the camel capital (as of August 2016). I've added an entry to the history section of the article that details this change.

Where to complain one "διαχειριστής" (greek for administrator) in another WP project

Thanks for the answer David Biddulph, but that not what I am looking for. I don't want to complain on the greek version of WP:AN but to a higher level. The reason lies on the nature of my complain. Ok, let me make a quick summury and inform me what to do: As you may know, Greece and Turkey are considerned bitter rivals since ages. I edited some articles, conserning the history of the two countries, and a)added the Turkish perspective and b)added the atrocities committed by Greek paramilitaries. Every addition was cited to academic or reliable secondary source (bbc, Nyt etc) That was enough to brand me as anti-Greek by some users and an administrator ban me from editing histroy articles on the ground of discrimination. The same story in Religion, I have edited some articles concerning atheism and christianity -mostly translations from en.WP. They branded me as anti-christian and banned me from editing religious articles on the ground of discrimination. It is a clear violation of the principles of Wikipedia, that administrator is preventing me to make useful contributions to Wikipedia. I can provide citation if needed. 2017 Lusophony Games

It is surprisingly hard to find any information. The latest I found is from 2015 where Mozambique still said they would hold the games in 2017. I guess they were quietly cancelled. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:02, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Delays seem to be a feature of this event: the 2013 games were postponed to January 2014 "due to the slow progress of infrastucture construction." AndrewWTaylor (talk) 12:39, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

A November 2017 article in Portuguese [2] talks about discussions to hold Lusophony Games in July 2018 in São Tomé and Príncipe. I guess that would be a replacement for the scheduled 2017 games in Mozambique. If it happens and is just viewed as the 4th Lusophony Games then it might be called a delay and change of location. AD vs CE

I have a problem with the us of "common era" CE instead of "Anno Domini" AD. It's stupid. The PROTEST to having a date linked to a Christian or religious benchmark is a waste of time and energy because none of today's existence would be where it is if it weren't for Jesus. Doesn't make any difference what one believes, the truth is that the beginning of the Common Era stills start on Jesus's birthday. @Falerina: Both AD/BC and CE/BCE are allowed in Wikipedia articles, but each article should use one or the other not both. See WP:MOS. If there is a particular article that you think should be using AD instead of CE, please discuss it on that article's talk page to get consensus. RudolfRed (talk) 18:21, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

I'm Jewish, but I find the term "Meridian of Time" to be very useful. Just like the Prime Meridian, you count up in both directions from it, and like the Prime Meridian, *relatively* arbitrary. Now I haven't met anyone who uses longitude and latitude who doesn't think the Greenwich, England doesn't exist, but I'd find them interesting.Naraht (talk) 17:51, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Here is my view, which I think is well-grounded in policy. These designations are only needed in articles about things that happened in early history, over 2000 years ago, or within a few hundred years after that. For pre-history, we can say something like "100,000 years ago". Contemporary events do not need these designations. BC/AD are designations that originated in Christianity and should be used in articles about early Christianity and Christian communities. BCE/CE are more neutral designations, and should be used in articles about Judaism of that era and civilizations with no connection with Judeo-Christianity at that time, such as India, China and Japan. Block User

Just like User_talk:Burger King Corporation, User:DongbuHiTek was created for the same purposes User:Burger King Corporation was created, it only made one edit: [3] [4] and it was to add that company to that list. It's unactive, but it could easily be used for self promotional purposes. That edit, even though it was a constructive one, was made by a user that is clearly owned by a company looking for self promotion. Pancho507 (talk) 21:24, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

I almost got waylaid by your message. ​Pancho, while the user account you mention is promotional and could have been blocked if it had been reported in 2015, right now there's no need to act on such user accounts that have made promotional edits years ago, unless they're tripping the edit filter log recently. Do wikitables break talk pages?

At Talk:Georges St-Pierre, Brokenlegmike placed a requested wikitable in the section "Adding "Weight Class Fought in" column to each mma fighters "Mixed Martial Arts Record" Table." The template coding for the table appears in the correct section in the edit window but the table results appear in the last section of the talk page and joins the template for edit requests to itself in the "Semi-protected edit request on 27 December 2017" section. I've never seen this behavior before and don't know how to fix it. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 22:25, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
