editsubmitting edited article for review?
edithello, I recently made edits to my draft of the entry for Agnieszka Kurant and I don't see anywhere i can add this for review? Here is the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Agnieszka_Kurant — Preceding unsigned comment added by Avantgaertner (talk • contribs) 04:56, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, if you consider that the page is ready for mainspace and that it complies with all the requirements of WP:NOTABILITY and WP:MOS then you can add
{{subst:submit}}
at the top of the page, which submit it for review. If you have not done so, please read WP:REFB in respect of correctly adding references and WP:CITET for templates and parameters used. Please sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thank you and good luck. Eagleash (talk) 05:14, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Video Game Title Image
editHello, Im making a draft for a copyrighted unreleased game titled return of the Obra Dinn. I downloaded the title screen and wish to put that as the image however it isn't my own work and I am unsure how to go about this YuriGagrin12 (talk) 16:51, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- May be suitable as a non-free media? Since Wolfenstein 3D have in-game screenshot. However, seem it is a matter of "why it is require to have that image uploaded" in order to fill the template parameter. Matthew_hk tc 17:03, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
@Matthew hk: But I want to put some images down because it is from the creator of 2 very popular video games and I want to use this to demonstrate its use of 1-bit display. But where do I upload the title screen? YuriGagrin12 (talk) 17:42, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- If Return of the Obra Dinn did not have its article and unreleased, make sure you are not promoting the product. Matthew_hk tc 17:44, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
@Matthew hk: Promoting it? How? I found it notable because the creator has made 2 other very popular games which both have their own articles, I want to upload some pictures because the game uses a 1-bit display and by uploading the pictures the potential article could demonstrate that. But where(if its okay) can I upload the picture? YuriGagrin12 (talk) 17:50, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Since the game did not have an article. It seem no place for any image from the game appeared in wikipedia. Please read also WP:Non-free media. Matthew_hk tc 17:56, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Ok, you had uploaded as File:ReturnoftheObraDinntite.gif. Matthew_hk tc 18:15, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
How to create backlinks
editHi there,
There has been a very nice external resourse to create incoming links. http://edwardbetts.com/find_link/
Unfortunately, it seems to be off-line forever.
Is there any other way for me to do so? I initiate many new articles and want to create incoming links to them from other pages, so my articles are well-incorporated into the whole ecosystem. I have looked through help pages and tutorials but failed to find any clues.
Cheers! Lamro (talk) 18:37, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Lamru. Just to understand your query properly, are you wanting to promote your Wikipedia articles on external internet sites, so that your articles get more views? If that's the case, then I would say Wikipedia would not promote such attempts. In the same way as we are against external link spamming and have a policy against using Wikipedia for promotion, we would perhaps not desire our editors to do just that on other websites using our links. Having said that, please do liberally correct me if my initial understanding of your query is mistaken. Thanks, Lourdes 19:52, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- I think the question relates to find link which appears not to be working. Eagleash (talk) 19:58, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- I don't want to promote my articles. My problem is different. When I create new articles, I want to search Wikipedia to find mentions in other Wikipedia articles and create incoming links to my new articles. There has been a good resource to do so, but it is no longer active. Is there any other way for me to do so? Lamro (talk) 06:42, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Eagleash. Lamro, I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but have you tried the linksto function in the search box? For example, if I type
"Millie Bobby Brown" -linksto:"Millie Bobby Brown"
in the search box, it would give me a list of articles that contain the term "Millie Bobby Brown" without a link to the actual article. But yes, you'll have to edit each article and insert the said link manually (unless you would be comfortable using AWB to block process the same). Do tell if this works for you. Thanks, Lourdes 17:00, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

- Lamro, hello again. For your benefit, I've created a script that you can install for quick support. The script would add a link titled "What doesn't link here" to the left-menu toolbar. Clicking on the link searches out articles where possible backlinks may be created for the current page. Hope it helps. Thanks, Lourdes 14:49, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- Just a quick update Lamro. Post some quick feedback I've obtained from MB, I've changed the script name and the script legend. Would request you to delete the old script from User:Lamro/common.js and add the new script as described at User:Lourdes/Backlinks. Thanks again and please feel free to ask me for any help. Warmly, Lourdes 02:47, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
- I have changed the script. Now I need some time to get familiar with it. But it seems to work properly. Thanks for your help! I guess the tool that you have written should be available for everybody as it adds real value. Lamro (talk) 06:56, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
- I've added the script to Wikipedia:User scripts/List and as an additional tool at Help:What links here. I guess anyone interested will reach the script to install it. Thanks, Lourdes 08:06, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
delete dead references ?
editshould i delete dead links or should i just mark them thanks if it says permanent dead links should these stay or not — Preceding unsigned comment added by Actinoide (talk • contribs) 21:18, 25 November 2017 (UTC) (modified by Actinoide 25 November 2017 21:31)
- Mark them. They may be recoverable, especially through Internet archive. See WP:Linkrot 7&6=thirteen (☎) 21:20, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Mark them. That there was link rot doesn't change the fact that they were references before. Read WP:AGF. Respect the work of prior editors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 7&6=thirteen (talk • contribs) 25 November 2017 21:40 (UTC)
- @Actinoide: I have removed the dead link and refilled in 1 bare reference at Clearwell Caves for you. SA 13 Bro (talk) 21:57, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

External links
editHi,
Just a quick question: are we allowed to have social media in the external links of a biographical article?and a blog?
--Railfan01 (talk) 22:39, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Railfan01: Read WP:LINKSTOAVOID and WP:ELBLP, Facebook social networking sites normally are avoided, except for an official page of the article's subject. SA 13 Bro (talk) 23:16, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
