editHelp merging cells
editHow do I merge the bottom three "Won" cells here? Thanks. Javiero Fernandez (talk) 06:36, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Javiero Fernandez: Use
rowspan="3"
before the first {{won}} and remove the two other cells.[1] There is normally a pipe afterrowspan
but {{won}} adds this pipe so the wikitext is not allowed to do it. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:37, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
How can i upload documents to prove i am the owner of the page and its contents
editHi . I represent CITRA Kuwait and we want to make a WIKI page for our organization. Kindly advise us on how we can present our official documents so we can create the page without any legal issues and also upload necessary content. Our user is CITRAKUWAITI

- If you want to create such a page, you need to do it in a Wiki other than Wikipedia. In Wikipedia we have guidelines regarding conflict of interest and page ownership. --David Biddulph (talk) 08:57, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

references
editAgain at Birdy (singer), someone put a ref tag on the section about her music in films. I always understood that references were only necessary when something is likely to be controversial or challenged. Can't see that this applies in this case. Sardaka (talk) 10:12, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Sardaka, this is a biography of a living person, everything must be referenced. Given the fan-page nature of this article, I thing that's particularly important Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:50, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- I've gone through an cleaned up a bit, added a couple more cite tags, removed most of the last section (interviews with her are not a reliable source, and it's just fan page type dross, her opinions aren't encyclopaedic fact). I've removed the gallery per Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Image_galleries (galleries go on commons, and the images here add nothing to the article) She's clearly notable, and slightly less promotional now Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:03, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Sardaka, having looked at your user page, you seem to think that anyone should be able to make any edit (in secret too, no watchlists), without interference. While you are entitled to your view, you are experienced enough to know that articles, particularly BLPs, must meet our guidelines, particularly regarding high quality sources. Duration of a FOIA request
editDon't know if here is the right place for such a question, do not edit here usually. Almost a year ago, I submitted three I guess rather simple FOIARs to the CIA. Up no know I did not get any reply besides an early confirmation. Is that the normal case? The requests are rather uncontroversial "archival" ones, the papers were written between 1951 and 1978, so I do not believe that it was refused. Or could it be a problem that I am foreign (german) national? Has anyone experience with that?--Antemister (talk) 10:52, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- As it says at the head of this page: "This page is only for questions about how to use or edit Wikipedia." You may want to try the reference desk. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:03, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

- Hello, this is the help desk for the English Wikipedia. Please see here. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 11:39, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- eagleash Would you know how can I turn off notifications for the Arab Wikipedia? I followed the link you provided and now I'm getting notifications from there. I think that when one visits another Wikipedia one should not be automatically enrolled. Thinker78 (talk) 01:30, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Thinker78: Go to preferences and then click notifications. When you create an account on en.Wiki., you automatically create one at other projects. It would have ebeen activated by visiting. Eagleash (talk) 05:31, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- eagleash I went to my preferences in the English Wikipedia and it is already set in not receiving email notifications but I did receive email notifications of the Arab Wikipedia, where I went to "settings" but there was no notifications option. Thinker78 (talk) 08:35, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Thinker78: Was the box under 'cross-wiki notifications' UNchecked? And are you asking about eMails or Wiki notifications (the little red Nos. by the bell icon)? Eagleash (talk) 10:27, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- eagleash Thanks for your reply. I don't want to turn off cross wiki notifications because there are other wikis that I like to receive notifications from. I just didn't want to receive notifications from the Arab Wikipedia. Although I don't think it's going to be an issue because I will hardly go back there and why then would I receive notifications. But for future reference it would be good to know. Thinker78 (talk) 16:59, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Thinker78: So it's eMails were concerned with? If that's the case you probably need to go that link in Arabic Wiki again, > right click and translate, > scroll down and select 'desktop', > select preferences, > notifications, > scroll down to eMail options. If that doesn't work, you'll have to ask someone else I'm afraid. Eagleash (talk) 17:11, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Eagleash, thanks for the help, I think I managed to do it. Thinker78 (talk) 18:47, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Sneaky template vandalism?
editIt looks like Template:IPAc-it is malfunctioning or has been vandalized (see this version of Rome), except it hasn't been edited since January, meaning I presume that one of the templates it depends on has been broken. But I've stared at this for 10 minutes now and I can't figure out how to fix it. Tech people halp. GMGtalk 12:46, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oh yeah. And it affects a few hundred articles and templates. So...halp. GMGtalk 12:47, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- There have been a number of recent moves of Template:Hover title, so that is apparently where the problem lies. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:54, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Each move will have created a redirect from the previous name. For the initial move, this is not a problem: but a second move will have created a second redirect, forming a two-link chain, which the MediaWiki software refuses to follow. The solution is to fix such double redirects, and this has been done in these edits: Template:Hover text; Template:H:title. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 16:10, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

Probably not the best forum to ask for it, but could someone experienced with article disambiguation have a look at WaveMaker and MEC (media agency) please? Apparently the latter has been renamed to Wavemaker and would need to be disambiguated. This probably needs some moving or hatnoting, but I am not completely sure about the best DAB solution in this case. GermanJoe (talk) 16:20, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
Houdini/Why were my corrections deleted and incorrect info substituted?
editJust fixed the article on Harry Houdini yesterday, correcting factual errors. Today, the old copy was back and my edits had disappeared! Did I forget to do something? Or did someone else do something?

Davidsaltman (talk) 18:02, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- To find out what happened, click on the "view history" tab at the top of the Harry Houdini article. You will see a terse description of the edit that changed the article back : "RV self-promotion". RV stands for "revert. You added a link to a book written by someone with your username as the author: don't do that. Your other edits to the article are not referenceced but are in sentences or paragraphs that have references: did you verify that those references state the facts that you added? Since you are clearly an interested party and are probably an expert, we would like to have your input. However, since you may have a conflict of interest (see WP:COI), you should suggest modifications on the article's talk page instead of within the article itself. And good luck! Our policies may seem strange, but I assure you that there is a good reason for each of them. -Arch dude (talk) 18:18, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
