- @MeisterYak: User:MeisterYak/sandbox was moved to Draft:Stuart Sandler. Click the redirect, click "Redirected from User:MeisterYak/sandbox" and remove the redirect code if you want to use your main sandbox for other purposes. You can create additional userspace pages, for example User:MeisterYak/sandbox2, User:MeisterYak/sandbox3, User:MeisterYak/sandbox4. If you do then I suggest placing {{User sandbox}} on them. See more at Wikipedia:User pages#Terminology and page locations. You can also start article drafts at Wikipedia:Articles for creation. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:30, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Wikipages for companies
editHello,
Is a company not able to create a wiki page on the company and/or CEO? If not, how do pages get created? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AltruistaHealth (talk • contribs) 14:59, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, no. Once your company becomes notable (see WP:notable) someone else will write about it, using information from multiple independent reliable sources (see WP:RS). You are strongly discouraged from writing directly about this subject (see WP:COI) and if you are being compensated by the subject, you must disclose this to comply with our terms of service. There is no valid method to force an article onto Wikipedia, so please don't be suckered into paying someone who claims to be able to do this as the article will almost certainly be deleted. In addition, your user name is not permissible, because its not a name for you as an individual: shared names like corporate names are not allowed. Sorry to sound so negative. Lots of folks don't realize that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory (see WP:NOT). If our rules seem too restrictive, think of it this way: as a user rather than the subject of an article, what rules do you think we should use? -Arch dude (talk) 16:08, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Help: Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014
editPlease can somebody rescue me from my technical ineptness?
I am completing a major expansion on the article Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, but unsure of the best way of dealing with some technical issues.
(1) I have proposed the merger of two articles into Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. I have added a template to Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the two potentially affected pages, and provided a courtesy message to the previous authors. Please can somebody check I've done this right as I have never attempted this task?
(2) I want to inform readers of the discussion about moving other articles into two sections of Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Please can somebody advice the best way of achieving this aim?
(3) I have added three sources to Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 that are showing some type of error. I have read the help section about the potential problem but still cannot resolve it. Please can somebody help me?
Sorry for the long list and work that I am causing. I thabk you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Regards,
Wayne

- This is a page for questions about editing Wikipedia; nothing else. Have you a question about editing Wikipedia? --ColinFine (talk) 17:10, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- This is the place for discussions for editing Wikipedia; if you have other questions, you may want to ask the reference desk. You may also be looking for various articles relating to wetness, or if you would like a definition, you could look at the definition of wet on Wiktionary. Birdseye view of Hengelo, The Netherlands
editGreetings,
What I would like to see is an overhead view of downtown Hengelo, The Netherlands. I've seen it before but that was a few months ago. It wasn't difficult then..... sincerely Kenneth B. Scalf wikipedia user name: <redacted> password: <redacted> — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hoppergrass (talk • contribs) 17:04, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, Hoppergrass. I have removed your password from the page, and an admin has hidden all the revisions that contained it: I wonder what you were thinking of, posting your password on a very very public page?
- There are several aerial photographs at commons:Category:Aerial photographs of Hengelo, Overijssel. (I found them by going to the article Hengelo, and picking the link " Media related to Hengelo, Overijssel at Wikimedia Commons" at the bottom.) --ColinFine (talk) 17:20, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hoppergrass - I would strongly recommend you change your password after posting it here. You can't be sure that someone with ill intent didn't see it. Richard0612 08:07, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
Adding two separate links to the same footnote
editSome years ago a kind editor told me how to link to the same explanatory {{refn| blah blah |group=n}} footnote from two separate points in the text. But I have forgotten how, and now I want to do it again. (I have a note about the various forms of somebody's name that he used during his career, and I think it would be helpful to link to it from the lead and from the relevant point in the main text.) Can any colleague point me in the right direction, please? Tim riley talk 17:42, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Talkpage participants
editIs it improper to solicit impartial participants for a talkpage discussion? A one-vs-one discussion tends to go nowhere (especially when one argument is essentially "because I say so"). —2606:A000:1126:4CA:0:98F2:CFF6:1782 (talk) 21:15, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- No, it is OK as long as the notice is worded neutrally, and you select the editors in a neutral fashion. One possibility would be to inform every editor who has contributed to the article in the past 90 days. A formal Request for comment will draw in uninvolved editors. Avoid any behavior described as canvassing. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:30, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for the link -- it lead me to WP:3, which I'll try. —2606:A000:1126:4CA:0:98F2:CFF6:1782 (talk) 06:07, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
2018 Bay of Quinte missing candidate
editThe list of candidates for the up coming Ontario provincial election did not include my name. I'm a registered Independent Candidate that you can confirm on the elections Ontario website. Please include my name in the Bay of Quinte riding. Thank you. Paul Bordonaro. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.43.113.231 (talk) 21:57, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- In the article Bay of Quinte (provincial electoral district), the name of the OP above is entered in the table of 2018 candidates, but in the article Ontario general election, 2018's table for Eastern Ontario, the entries in the Bay of Quinte row omit both his name and also that of the NOTA candidate Kandace Parks, and give a different name for the Green candidate, Mark Daye instead of the BoQ article's Tracey Barker. I also notice that James Engelsman is listed as the 'Trillium' candidate in BoQ and as 'Other' in Oge, 2018.
- Perhaps someone (Canadian) with more background knowledge of the scenario that I (an UKlander, who have essentially none) could harmonise the two articles? {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.221.82.140 (talk) 13:28, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
