"Check date values in: |accessdate="

In Rockefeller University, I recently added a footnote, and got a "Check date values in: |accessdate=" warning. I have no idea what is wrong with the date I gave. @Jmabel: |accessdate=2020-11-16 says you accessed the source 10 days in the future. Unless you're a time traveller, that can't be right. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 04:06, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Problem with kelvin calculation

I was recently reading the [Ic page] and I notice when it referred to the temperature at which the substance forms it said 'kelvins'. As kelvin is an absolute value it is singular. However, when I went to change it, I realised it was a function of the code used to write it.
In this instance the code,
'{{convert|130|and|220|K|C|}}'
appeared as;
'130 and 220 kelvins (−143 and −53 degrees Celsius)'
I was wondering if this is simply a problem with the sites code or is a bug of the language it's written in?

Vandalism help request from Sdkb

I have noticed some vandalism at Backdoor (computing). Namely, what appears to be an advertisement for a "digital marketing" company has been inserted at the very beginning of the article. The {{Information security}} template was overwritten by an advert, but has been restored. If you are still seeing the damage in a particular article, a "purge" should fix it - see Wikipedia:Purge for how to do this. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:40, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Copy and paste

I have asked about how to create a template for a WikiProject, and was told to go to [[[WP: BannerMeta]]. I have tried what is says on there on the sandbox of my userpage, but was not able to produce the template. Is there any way in which it is possible to copy and paste information on Wikipedia? The information about templates at WP: BannerMeta is very long-winded and complicated, and I might find it easier to follow if I could copy it and paste it to my sandbox. I don't know what you mean, Vorbee. There is no page called WP:BannerMeta. If you want to copy markup, edit the page (or "View source" if it is protected) and copy from the edit window. --ColinFine (talk) 14:20, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

@ColinFine: I think Vorbee is referring to this section of the help desk from a few days ago. @Vorbee: the template {{WikiProject Mysticism}} has already been created by El cid, el campeador. Uploading

@41.184.252.200: I am afraid that you have a common misunderstanding of WIkipedia. Wikipedia does not contain profiles, Wikipedia has articles about subjects that meet Wikipedia's definition of notability, in this case of a noteable person. Further, Wikipedia articles dont belong to their subjects. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:36, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

You may create a Wikipedia Article about the principal, but only if the principal is notable by our definition: see WP:N. If you find several sources that establish notability, then come back here for help on the next step. -Arch dude (talk) 17:18, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

@Otunbatope: You are not WP:AUTOCONFIRMED so you cant upload Files to the english Wikipedia. If the file is under a siutable license, you can upload it to our sister project Wikimedia Commons using their Upload wizard. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:34, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Downloaded PDF files are corrupt.

How to create and insert an Infobox on an existing biography/person

How do you insert a photo into the Infobox? I clicked on edit but when I click on the "image" box it doesn't give me the option to insert a picture.

Hi and thanks so much for the reply! I'll use the template but I am confused about inserting the infobox into the biography. Also, I think if the infobox goes to the right area of the page it will be good to place the other pictures in the left but I can not see how to do this. By the way, the Cesar Marolla page is here:

For basics, please see Template:Infobox academic. You can use the template there to create an infobox; simply fill in biographical information in that template to create an infobox. Hello, Dan.ferratti. You simply add the code at the top. An easy way to do it is to choose a similar article with an infobox, "Edit" it and copy the whole of the infobox code (including the double curly brackets at the start and end), then paste it into Draft:Cesar Marolla. --ColinFine (talk) 18:07, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

@Dan.ferratti: Before you put a lot of work into an article, please carefully read Wikipedia:Notability (academics). Unfortunately, it is a lot harder to show notability for an academic than for say an athlete or a Pokemon character, simply because academics do not attract the attention of reporters. Once you are sure of notability, then take a look at several articles about other academics and pick one whose format appeals to you. My friend Euan MacKie died on Monday. I put that information in the Wikipedia entry. I have just had a message from someone called 'Fuzzhead' to say that my amendment wasn't 'constructive'. U.S. Embassy image

I assume that this image is suitable for uploading because it is the work of a U.S. Embassy, although the license tag does not appear to meet Commons criteria. Can this be uploaded as a free work? And if so, can you upload it for me? I'm not able to copy it into the Commons template because it is a webpage, not a jpeg file. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 21:43, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm afraid not, Yoninah. The page says "Some rights reserved", and if you drill down, it is licence CC-BY-ND, which is not compatible with Commons' requirements. --ColinFine (talk) 21:57, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

@Yoninah:If that picture was taken by a US government photographer during the course of his work, then the photographer made a mistake then uploading it to Flickr with that copyright, but we cannot make that assumption. Mount Baga

I note that the category for volcanic plugs in Australia, specifically Queensland, Australia doesn't have a link to the Mount Baga page - which is a volcanic plug in Queensland. Dianna Cohen ( born May 13- Artist and Activist , American Based in Los Angeles, CA.

In 2007, Dianna first learned about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and spent a year developing a proposal to travel to the middle of the Pacific Ocean to harvest the “plastic island” and make art out of it, raising awareness about the plastic pollution crisis in our oceans. The project was the perfect opportunity to meld her love for the ocean with the primary medium of her artwork — plastic bags — and to raise awareness and inspire change.

As she learned more about the issue of plastic pollution, she realized that we could not simply “clean it up” but instead, needed to “turn off the tap” and stop the flow of plastic into our oceans and our lives.

As a natural extension of this idea, in 2009, Dianna with other thought-leaders, scientists, and activists, founded Plastic Pollution Coalition in order to raise awareness and promote solutions to the global plastic pollution crisis.
