Requesting resubmission of Draft: SideChef

Hello, the draft page for the topic SideChef was recently deleted due to unambiguous advertising. I have since contacted the admin who deleted the draft in hopes of providing a new draft which neutral tones and fixing our previous mistakes. However, they have not yet responded and I'd like to know if I have permission to resubmit a draft for consideration now. If not, is there any way this page can still be created?

Hi Am.ayz. At any time, you can create a new draft, be it in draft space itself, or as a user subpage (for example, at User:Am.ayz/SideChef). Since the page has already been WP:CSDed once, it is recommended the new content is very different from what it was before, otherwise it will end up being CSDed again, and persisting might result in sanctioning. Japanese flag

Surely a risen sun is still a rising sun. I have never heard anybody refer to "a risen sun" in English.--Shantavira|^{feed me} 08:37, 10 August 2021 (UTC).

Am.ayz, the Sun from noon until sunset is still risen, but it's no longer rising. If in Japanese, it is referred to as a "risen" Sun, distinct from a "rising" Sun, then in general, an English language reference should, for accuracy, make the same distinction. Let me give you an example from my own, Polish heritage. The Polish flag is white on the top half and red on the bottom half. In English, when we speak generally of those two colors together, 99.99...% of the time, we'd say red and white. But the Polish expression for the two colors of the flag is "biały i czerwony," which translates to white and red. Polish people, including people of Polish heritage (i.e., not necessarily native speakers), when speaking English will commonly refer to the colors of the Polish flag as "white and red." Based on a cursory reading of the linked article and Names of Japan, the Japanese name does not make such any such distinction. 日本 (translated fancifully as "Land of the Rising Sun" by westerners) can also be translated more literally as "origin of the sun" or "where the sun rises". The name of the flag itself (日章旗) can be translated simply as "sun flag".

The Rising Sun badge worn by the Australian Army is a more literal depiction of the sun cresting over the horizon, but the name seems perfectly appropriate for describing the design of the Japanese flag as well. RoxySaunders (talk · contribs) 02:47, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Page on American actor, RANDY QUAID

Reading about Randy Quaid ([[1]]), I noticed one of his movies was missing from the Filmography section: "Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones" (1980 TV movie). Randy played a major role in that movie as Clayton Ritchie ([[2]]). On your page cited here on Ritchie, you do show Randy's role in portraying the character in the Jim Jones Story. To answer your question: you're editing your user page, which is outside of the main article namespace. By default, you won't see user pages (or anything that isn't an article, like templates or draft) in search results. You can't remove the User: part, unless your article gets moved into the main article namespace.

You should have a look at this page about Your first article, which explains almost everything about the article creation process.

MS Mega Regina article in need of updating

The article MS Mega Regina is in need of updating. Except for one picture of the ship on the Mediterranean Sea and updated information about the ship's name and owner, pretty much everything else is still about the ship's previous life as MS Mariella. And if nobody seems to notice, or care, then mention that attempt of yours at a discussion on the talk page of any WikiProject that's advertised on that talk page. Edit notices don't work on subpages? (Resolved)

Hello,

I tried to make an edit notice for a tasks subpage of my user page. However, it doesn't display when I edit the tasks subpage. The edit notice page itself has an edit notice warning me that the page title format is not correct. Is there any way I can make an edit notice for the subpage, or is it impossible? Citation for interview

We want to update the Wikipedia entry for ‘Glitter’ based on an interview with Henry Ruschmann Jr., who is son of the inventor of glitter Henry Ruschmann Sr. as cited in Wikipedia. Ruschmann Jr. succeeded his father as president of Meadowbrook Inventions Inc. and ran the company for decades – and is perhaps the leading authority today on glitter. Can you advise on how to cite the interview in the References section?

1. Is this a published interview? If it's not published, then it's not usable under any circumstances.

2. Interviews in general are likely to be treated as self-published sources, since an interview is simply re-stating the assertions and claims of the person interviewed. Thus, information only supported by interviews is deprecated for our purposes. --Orange Mike | Talk 12:51, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

Sidebar formatting problem (done)

In current Firefox, the text "See the project's archives for work editors have accomplished." in Wikipedia:Cleanup/Information_sidebar (below the filing icon) appears "twice boldfaced". I tried to fix it but failed. Can anybody help out here?--Hildeoc (talk) 14:58, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

Access to the British Daily National Newspaper The Times

Does someone here subscribe to the British daily national newspaper The Times official website? I want to look at an article behind its paywall at https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/actors-make-their-voices-heard-for-audiobooks-75vgqvj0d. While I can access it via at least three different means, say Factiva, university library and national library of Scotland, there is some out there who demand to see a pdf printed from its official website. Essentially, we want to verify if the following sentences, "In the past, Stephen Hogan read novels such as Sebastian Barry's The Secret Scripture, John Boyne's The Heart's Invisible Furies, and Colm Toibin's The Heather Blazing. @Supermann:. The Times website allows casual users from the UK (and perhaps elsewhere) to create a free account which gives access to two articles a week. I have such an account and can confirm the wording is exactly as you indicated above (actually The Sunday Times of 10 January 2021). Wikipedia citations can be behind paywalls because they can still be verified in a number of ways. Clearly, The Times is a frequently-used source on the list at WP:RSPS. Robert Wise article correction

Your article on film director Robert Wise contains an inaccuracy. The character played by Valentina Cortese in 'The House on Telegraph Hill' (1951) is a concentration camp survivor (Belsen), but she is not Jewish. She happens to be Polish. Had the character been a Polish Jew, she would have been killed in Belsen.
