Translating a passage from a source

I would like to quote a passage from Les Annales de la Sociéte Entomologique de la Belgique. The Annales is in French, and I am reasonably confident of my ability to translate it (see my tentative translation below), but I would like to know the procedure for including this in an article. I am quoting directly from the text, but am translating it into English. Do I have to put it in square brakcets? Is there a template I should use to mark the quote? Or can I not even do that without some kind of special permission?

@Edward-Woodrow: just fyi, you said your translation is "below", but I don't see it. However, it's not necessary to see it to answer this question. Generally speaking you cannot include copies of copyrighted content in articles in Wikipedia, whether in the original language or translated. Exceptions apply under "fair use", but please read Wikipedia:Plagiarism first, especially section § Avoiding plagiarism. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:48, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

Oops. Here is my proposed translation:

@Edward-Woodrow: The original is so old that its copyright has expired, so copyright does not apply. You are free to translate it. The only requirement to avoid plagiarism is to cite the source, which you need to do anyway. I recommend that you go ahead and put it in quotes, and prefix the citations with "translated from", like this.

And to expand on that, there are two possible reasons why there is no article: firstly, since this is a volunteer effort, someone would have to have considered writing one. And secondly, if an article is to be accepted, the subject needs to meet our notability criteria. Which depends on there being significant independent coverage of the subject in reliable sources. If you are referring to Wajahat Ali the journalist, I suspect there may just not be enough out there. A quick Google search doesn't bring up anything much. Which isn't that unusual - even well-established journalists tend not to have a great deal written about them unless they come to wider attention though some specific story or the like. Cookridge

You forgot to add the "px" parametre, which sets the width of the image in pixels. I can't get the image to actually display right, with caption and everything, so I have removed it for now. But for future reference, you should never put an image in a page without adding a px parametre to prevent situations like this. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v ^{a little blue Bori} 06:59, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

update in Background color as gray or black

Dear Wikipedia, Ps per lot's of website are change the background color as black . the you also well know black color is not effect to the eyes , when we regularly read the contain the my eyes are not felling well they are problem to me because white screen very much effect on the eyes ,

How to bookmark a Category in Android app?

Hi there,

I am a newbie. Lets say, I wanna bookmark the whole category (to save it to my list of other bookmarks), such as the following one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Python_(programming_language)_libraries

How do I do this in Android app?

Hi Jbionic2010. As far as I know, you would do it in the same way as you bookmark anything else as explained here, if you mean when using Chrome as a browser for Wikipedia. If you mean within the WP android app, you need to read this set of FAQ from Wikimedia. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:17, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

It doesn't look to me as if you can - displaying a category is completely different from displaying an article in the app, and they may have chosen not to implement that. It is unlikely that anybody viewing this page knows anything about the innards of the app, but you can contact the development team as mw:Wikimedia Apps/Team/Android. Thanks for using the app, @Jbionic2010! Unfortunately Category pages are handled in a fundamentally different way in the Android app, and currently cannot be bookmarked in the same way that regular articles can. Unfortunately, none of the links you shared answer my question. I was very specific about Android app, Chrome browser has nothing to do with my question.

@Jbionic2010: I think you are referring to the app's button with the "ribbon" icon which is labeled (in English interface) with "Save". The deal seems to be this: that button is not a "bookmark" button like those available in a browser. Apparently the app has no bookmark button (just history-like items and multiple tabs). That Save button actually downloads the article from Wikipedia to your device so that it is available for reading when your device is offline. The button is apparently grayed-out because using a downloaded copy of a category would be next to useless when offline since a category is essentially a list of links to articles (which would not be available offline unless also saved). Also, the downloaded category would become out-of-date since articles are added and deleted from categories dynamically. I would suggest for bookmark-like function you could open another tab with the Category:Python_(programming_language)_libraries page loaded on it, and then switch between tabs. --R. S. Thanks. Frankly, I'd appreacite if the Android app offered the option of saving such category items to the bookmark lists. Even if categories are subject to frequent dynamic changes, it does make sense to have all the articles bundled together within a category and so to have them saved by one click rather than each article opened and saved separately. Organizing categories with RegEx / JWB

Hello, I'm currently working on a mid-sized wiki on Fandom and their categories are not in a consistent order. With regex I am planning to organize in a custom manner working with sub/super categories on the wiki. I am thinking with using patterns and groups but I can't seem to work it out.
