Wikipedia:WikiProject Measurement

(Redirected from Wikipedia:MEASURE)

Welcome to the Measurement WikiProject!

Goals
  • Improve Wikipedia's coverage of systems and units of measurement.
  • Create guidelines for articles about systems and units of measurement.
Scope
  • The project covers all articles about systems and units of measurement, both SI and non-SI systems. These articles should be included in the Category:Measurement or one of its subcategories.
  • It is also suggested that the project take on articles about fundamental physical constants, which are vital for many systems of measurement. All of these articles should be in the Category:Physical constants, which is a subcategory of Category:Measurement.

Open tasks

edit

Two worklists have been brought over from the Gold Book workgroup at WikiProject Chemistry: they will need reformatting, but they should give editors some idea of the number and type of articles which fall into their scope.

  • /SI worklist, with all SI units and prefixes
  • /SI conversion: conversion of all the measures in Wikipedia articles to SI.
  • /CODATA worklist, with a list of physical constants for which CODATA recommends values (the 2006 recommended values have recently become available)

Requests for review

edit
  • 5 December 2012 - Introduction to the metric system - Currently classed as a "C" grade article by a Wikiproject Physics editor. Would somebody from Wikiproject measurements like to review the grading to see whether or not it can be classed as a "B" from the point of view of measurement? In particular, coverage and accuracy needs to be checked everything else has a large overlap with physics.
  • 1 June 2014 - Certified reference materials - Currently classed as "Start" with need for inline references. Substantially revised to address lack of inline references and improve coverage. Not quite comprehensive yet (details of RM value assignment strategies still lacking, for example) but would be nice to see if we can get rid of the inline refs tag at the top and upgrade to at least "C".
