Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

edit- Tomás de Iriarte y Oropesa → Tomás de Iriarte (currently a redirect back to Tomás de Iriarte y Oropesa) (move · discuss) – The author's commonest name in English, Spanish, and French (and in his works as originally published). Compare the Spanish Wikipedia article's title. Quuxplusone (talk) 19:08, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

edit- (character) → (punctuation) (currently a redirect back to (character)) (move · discuss) – This would make it more consistent with the pages that it disambiguates between, of which two end with (punctuation), zero end with (character), and one ends with neither. I figure that the See also section can include both links to character-related pages and links to punctuation-related pages. Care to differ or discuss with me? The Nth User 07:58, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- @The Nth User I don't think underscores are considered a type of punctuation. C F A 💬 15:15, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ashley Cain-Gribble → Ashley Cain (figure skater) (currently a redirect back to Ashley Cain-Gribble) (move · discuss) – Cain no longer goes by her double-barrelled married name, having divorced her husband in 2022 APM (talk) 13:06, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Are there any reliable sources that confirm this? I don't see any cited in the article. A quick Google search turned up this Reddit thread from 2022, Is Ashley Cain-Gribble getting divorced?, but no confirmation. Most news sources that I found from 2022 still referred to her as Ashley Cain-Gribble, but the news coverage seems to drop off after she and her skating partner retired from competition. She's referred to as Ashley Cain-Gribble in this People Magazine piece from 2023, but she goes by Ashley Cain on social media. Her official website has her as Ashley Cain at the top of the page, though the bottom of the page still reads, "Ashley Cain-Gribble & Timothy LeDuc’s official website is written and produced by Ashley & Timothy...". - Frustratingly, it doesn't appear so. They must've finalized the divorce sometime last year as Dalton Gribble will be marrying again, but I couldn't find any confirmation of this from reliable sources. It doesn't help that she shares her name with a semi-pro footballer and reality television personality who also split with his partner around the same time. APM (talk) 15:43, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
