Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles/Red links
Notes
edit- If a redlink is outside our project scope, or you consider it marginal please strike it out.
- If a redlink is dubious enough that you be bold and remove it from the article, remove it from this list too
- Add the most pressing red links (very notable figures or concepts and/or many incoming links) embolden it and add it to the emboldened links list
The Beatles (2)
editHistory - Alan Livingstone (Capitol)- Capitol president, arguably outside scope (willing to listen to counter views on this one! --kingboyk 04:13, 16 March 2006 (UTC))- Studio style evolution - Ken Townsend - EMI staff engineer, has several incoming Beatles links

Apple Corps (1)
Apple Corps#Apple Studio - Lou Reizner- Outside project scope (not a "Beatle person"), but the question remains about whether to delink him or not (and indeed whether to leave him in the Apple article or not). Has an incoming link from Tommy (album) and seems to be a music biz entrepreneur/producer. Ntability unknown to me. Google search.

Beatles, Ltd. (1) (tax shelter started early and that later developed for a large part into Apple Corps, probably might be added to the Apple article as a proto-Apple or its predecessor as long as it'll be described a bit in detail)
Beatles and Co. (1) (tax shelter formed in April 1967 and just like Beatles, Ltd. instrumental in the formation of Apple)
Influence - The Brown Album (Martin/Molloy album)- sigh, am I (User:kingboyk) alone in disliking these crufty additions to Beatles articles? I mean, who cares?! Anywayz, out of scope.

Intro - Wigmore Street (delink)- Outside project scopeIntro - Montagu Square (delink)- Outside project scope
Only Wigmore Street has other incoming links, but I think it does no harm to leave the others redlinked. Probably outside project scope, unless somebody feels they deserve articles just because they have Beatles connections (e.g. Cavendish Avenue, where Paul resided for several years...)

- Compilations and other releases in the US - Lingasong Records - Lingasong Records was the new label set up to release the Star Club tapes and who were famously the defendants in an unsuccessful 1977 lawsuit by Apple. No doubt notable, but I'm wondering if a paragraph or 2 on Lingasong could go into Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962 and a redirect put into place.

George Harrison (21)
- Intro - Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)
- Early years - Dovedale Junior School (school) - suggest the schools wiki project might want to look at this. A school with Lennon and Harrison as alumni which has no article?!
Role in The Beatles- Letchmore Heath - a village (see List of places in Hertfordshire), with incoming links but no article just yet. Outside project scope.- 1970s - He's So Fine
- 1970s - Sue Me Sue You Blues
- 1970s - This Guitar (Can't Keep from Crying)
- 1970s - Crackerbox Palace
- 1970s - Blow Away
- 1970s - Love Comes To Everyone
- 1970s - Terry Doran - Seems to be bitpart player in the Apple era. Possibly needs an article, possibly not. 3 incoming links.
- 1980s - I Don't Want To Do It
- 1980s - Cheer Down
- 1980s - Cockamamie Business
- 1990s - Wilbury Twist
- 1990s - If Not for You
- 1990s - Chants of India - a Ravi Shankar album, also linked to from Anoushka Shankar. Should say linked I imagine, but I'm not sure of the level of George's involvement and therefore whether it's in our project scope or not.
- 1990s - Michael Abram - George's armed assailant. Notable story, but notable guy? Don't know. No other incoming links.
- 1990s - Horse to the Water
1990s - Small World, Big Band- A quite famous album by Jools Holland, featuring the (no need for NPOV here I think :)) fantastic track Horse To The Water. Surprisingly is not linked in the Jools Holland article, and has no other incoming links. The album is outside scope anyway, maybe we should just delink it and create an article for Horse to the Water? (Or vice versa).- Death - Material World Charitable Foundation - George's charity (3 links, but Living in the Material World could be added to that, as I distinctively remember it being mentioned on that album's sleeve - IIRC, it received the publishing royalties?)
Help! (album) (1)
- American release - Ken Thorne (Help! film music composer) - 6 incoming links, Academy Award winner. Not sure if he's within project scope or not, and I'd never heard of him. I won't add him to our to-do list yet but it would seem he probably requires an article.
Hey Jude (album) (0)
- The psychedelic years - Ken Townsend
The psychedelic years - Maureen Cleave- British journalist, 4 incoming links- The psychedelic years - Datebook - American magazine [1] Not sure if a general teenybop mag (which would be
outside project scope) or a Beatles fanzine (within scope). No other incoming links, but as the publication which broke the "bigger than Jesus" story it must have a claim to notability Brian Epstein's death - Carbitol- I'm not sure if this is even correct. The Google results are mighty thin [2]. Can someone with printed matter to hand look up what drug killed Mr Epstein? No other incoming links for Carbitol, nor does a wiki search help much. Strike because a pharmaceutical product is of course outside project scope, but the matter nonetheless needs investigation (and if it's correct should probably remain a link)- Personnel - Tony Barrow - Beatles Press Officer 1963-1968. Is this the chap that wrote the wonderful sleeve notes on the Beatles EPs? (and on Please Please Me, if I remember rightly). I suspect he's deserving of an article but he has no other incoming links at the moment -> Now has a stub

Paul McCartney (9)
- Role in The Beatles - James McCartney (Paul's son - linked below also) -- I suspect this one should be delinked. Unlike most of the Beatles' offspring, I'm not aware of any claim for notability on the part of this chap besides being Paul's son. Probably the reason why he's the only one redlinked, too! --kingboyk 04:54, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
2000s - Good Rockin' Tonight: The Legacy Of Sun Records- also linked (with possibly undue Beatle prominence) from Sun Records, but outside project scope I think?2000s - Ralph WhitworthA banker, outside project scope. Article creation instructions
editYou're starting a new article? Great! Please follow these instructions:
- Articles about the Beatles are generally considered to be articles with a "strong tie" to the dialect of the United Kingdom and should be written in British English.
- Add the new article to the appropriate subcategory of Category:The Beatles, or to the parent category if most appropriate
- Add any appropriate template to the article, such as an album or single infobox
- Place a {{WPBeatles}} template on the new article's Talk page
- If the article is listed as a redlink on the to-do list please remove it from that list
- If the article needs a photo and you don't have one, place a {{Photo requested}} template on the talk page and add the article to "Wanted Pics/Graphics" on the the to-do list
- List the article in the appropriate category on the Article Classification list. Don't classify it yourself, it's best if we classify each other's articles not our own
- Any new articles that have an interesting or unusual fact in them should be suggested for the Did you know? box on the Main Wikipedia page. DYK has a 120-hour time limit (from the creation of the article, not the nomination).
- Finally (hooray!) record your wonderful achievement on the Project Log
