When the 1st of the month rolls around, it's time to update our Genetics collaboration!

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do so:

1. Identify nomination with greatest support (in case of a tie, choose the nominated article that has been listed longer).
2. Remove the winning nomination from Wikipedia:WikiProject Genetics/Collaboration of the Month and add it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Genetics/Collaboration of the Month/History, inserting the relevant information (article rating & OldID hyperlink of the last edit before promotion).
3. Add an "after" hyperlink to the previous CotM & update the article rating if it has changed.
4. Edit the talk page of the previous CotM from {{Geneticscur}} to {{Geneticsprev}} (inserting the month of the collaboration as such: {{Geneticsprev|month=month year}}.
5. Edit the current CotM talk page from {{Geneticsnom}} to {{Geneticscur}}.
6. Edit Template:Current Genetics COTM to reflect newest CotM & place most recent in the "last month" slot.
7. Finally, edit Template:Wikiproject Genetics, replacing the link to the previous article with the current CotM. ← Template:Wikiproject Genetics is now fully protected, so this step must be performed by an admin.

Maybe you could work to update Wikipedia:WikiProject Genetics/Collaboration of the Month/History by checking for article re-grades for those that haven't been updated. Perhaps you might send an article to Wikipedia:Peer review or apply for FA status at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates...
